Here's my take from my experience in the military and aviation. F-14: if you want a longer range fighter for intercepts with a powerful radar and able to carry longer range missile. F-15: If you want payload, power, range, and an all-around highly capable fighter. F-16: If you want a maneuverable, light-weight fighter (but range limited). F-18: If you wanted a durable, jack-of-all-trades fighter (but not excelling in any one area). F-35: If you want sensor fusion and low RCS but payload limited). Typhoon: Not as familiar with, but does have good payload and weapons complement. F-22: If you want the most maneuverable fighter with powerful radar, high speed, and low RCS (but payload limited).
The most remarkable thing about the EF-2000 is Power to weight ratio, it can accelerate vertical with every Standard loadout. The 60kN dry and 90kN wet rating for the engines is a very conservative estimate. Also it has the newest Radar. But comparison with the F22 is of Course very classified.... if you want to know how powerful the EF 2000 is, it was the first supercruise capable Fighter and its the fastest supercruiser. It can reach at least 1,5 with standard loads.
F-35 payload limited？Well, if you are willing to sacrifice stealth, you can carry 10 AMRAAMs and 2 GBU-31s and 2 sidewinders while still being able to go 2000 nautical miles+. Just no supercruise.
F35 also can help you get more life out of your legacy fighters which is why I think it is so popular. Iran uses the F14 as an awacs the radar is that good as they dont want to risk them otherwise.

The F-35 should have been cancelled in 2015 when it was clear the program was significantly over budgets and behind schedule. Great Video. Not knowing what models are currently in game some choices worth a follow-up: Panavia Tornado ADV, Mikoyan MiG-25, Mikoyan MiG-31 and Shenyang J-8. A few wildcards could also be the Saab 35 Draken, McDonnell Douglas F4 Phantom II, Sukhoi Su-15 and Convair F106 Delta Dart.
It looked like the F-15C's AIM-120-C5s hit the bombers 40-ish seconds before the F-14B's AIM-54As, and the 15s got the "GO!" order 5 seconds before. Not sure what I'm missing. Maybe something in editing. More importantly, I'm glad your voice is coming back, Cap!!

Strategical suggestion if you ever redo this vid; lose the ext fuel tanks and put some KC-135 in each area/vector. Since time to intercept is the issue here, adding all of this fuel weight should be considered since it's a "short distance". I'd rather add a couple of more missiles but no fuel tanks. And what Kelly said, the F-35's radar should actually make much more of a difference, otherwise, it's always fun to watch. Adding 135s will not help, you lose so much time gasing up compared to tossing tanks it doesn't matter. And they have to keep the fuel, remember they are flying at full burner to get to these speeds all the time, and the drink rate of that is... Insane!
Realistic, the f16 is loaded with a centerline tank for air to air, and wing tanks for air to ground. That is my experience as a crewchief at a training base. Luke afb.
This game is so great because many of us wanted to be pilots but never made it because of poor eyesight, heart problems, poor grades, unwillingness to join the military etc. I personally don't want to surrender my freedom in exchange for the chance to pilot an eagle for few years. You can't fly jets to 30 years in the air force. If you could, every 30 years the whole crop of pilots would retire and it would cripple the air force's fighting power. Instead they keep sending older pilots to a desk and bringing in young ones. The correct balance is 50% veterans and 50% new recruits. Thus at no time will the air force experience a mass retirement of pilots a year before a war. Instead the air force experiences a balanced, staggered retirement rate. For an aircraft that came out in 2003 and is meant to be able to supercruise at Mach 1.5, I don't think it's super realistic for the EF to overtake everything. I think officially it can reach mach 1.6 at FL360 in 150 seconds, where the F-15c takes 280, so she packs a punch.
got the sound working and tried again, 10:21 from brakes off to splash with f14b or 10:13 if youre doing it from takeoff, its entirely down to what mood the radar is in!! got them locked at 110 nm and fired instantly
Typhoon's supersonic capability with Delta wing and it's AMRAAM Meteor combination make it the best fast jet interceptor for this match. However , if there is a chance we should see Foxbat in action too as it could go more than Mach 2 in high altitude.
I always believed they should have kept the F-14 and maybe even modernized it undergoing a full refresh of tech, stealth paints, etc. I've had a love affair with that jet ever since I was a small child. We moved to Stuttgart Germany before I was one year old and our only English movies we Top Gun(fuckin amazing classic) and the Rocky series(also amazing classics). I wanted to be Maverick so bad.
The specs are wildly incorrect. It's a common issue with mods. The mod makers really like their aircraft so they boost the stats to make it more powerful. The F22 and SU57 have the same issue. Not to mention the Eurofighter's Meteor missile does about mach 10 in game while in real life it should do less than half of that.
@mandellorian Weights less than a legacy F18 and has engines that are considerably more powerful than even the newest Super Hornet ones. It's almost like an F16 with two engines. Of course its overpowered. I don't think there is anything that accelerates or climbs like it.

To be fair, radar coating in this instance would not matter. Not that fat amy could go 2.5, but pretty sure they would sacrifice the paint coating to intercept before the nukes were launched. Biggest shock was how fast the F-18 got to mach. It was only a few ticks behind the F-15 and F-16 in a climbing accel.
According to the all knowing wiki...... in air superiority config, The Eurofighter can do "brakes off to Mach 1.6 @ 36,000 feet" in less than 150 seconds
don't forget, the typhon is designed to carry out this in real life, cap don't forget in QRA typhon has a 62500 ft per min climb rate, so the results are not far off

Cap & Co, I’ve got a scenario for a future video I’m hoping you’ll give some thought: Russian attack over the pole on North America (SU-57, SU-35, AWACS + TU-160, TU-95, and the TU-22M3 since their probes are starting to be refitted). Vs NORAD (Alaska based F-22, F-35, F-16, AWACS + RCAF CF-18’s from AB & QC). Obviously scale and the map would be an issue, but you guys are some of the best improvisers around. @@92HazelMocha the E model with -229's might outrun the C model depending on which engines and fuel load. The C model vs the E model with similar fuel over the entire mission, three bags vs CFT's would likely also favor the E model even if both were running -229 engines. Now, if limited to C model internal fuel only, I am pretty sure that the C model is likely faster without CFT's than the E model is with CFT's... Regardless of the engines. Of course, you can put CFT's on a C model (iirc) and the C model is lighter than the 2 seat E model for a number of reasons. Also there are other factors that may influence the outcome, like the targeting and nav pods, which don't make the mud-hen any faster.
Have seen two f-15's having a "dogfight" somewhere over south Northamptonshire (maybe further south depending on how high they were) and oh my gosh, what a sight. They were like 2 kites dancing in the sky. I sat memorised for what felt like hours. Absolutely my favourite American plane.

An F-15C used an AIM-120 to score the "longest known air to air missile shot" in April 2021 and considering the Iranian air force has done a 132 mile test shot with the AIM-54, there's no way that missile was not a D. So at least one F-15 can shoot them. I'd be surprised if they're not integrated on most of them considering their mission set

The 16's got hosed with those 120's on pylons instead of wingtips and two bags.....way too much drag and gas for that close of an intercept. Fun vid though:)
So what happens if you get in formation with the missile and flip it with your wing? I was reminded of the Tempests and Spitfires crashing V-1s that way over the Channel (or sparsely-populated areas) in WW2. Noting that game-developer or modder access to the actual missile's flight control programming may be a bit limited. According to that ever-unimpeachable source, Wikipedia, the Kh-65 was the export version with limited range and without nuclear capability. The Kh-55 was the real-deal nuclear-capable missile. For this test I imagine they were functionally identical.
Only problem showing mach # is that it's relative given the speed of sound changes with temperature, pressure, and density. supersonic at high altitude is subsonic at low altitude. It'd be more worthwhile to show it in knots.
Typhoon guys the Typhoon! My all time favourite aircraft is a such a beast! Even if this is a simulation, I pick the Typhoon, especially what UK have the FGR4! No chance for Russian SUs or MIGs versus this aircraft! And I forget to mention the pilot experiece. The countries who fly the Eurofighters have more hours than the Russian counterpart have. Crazy stuff. Typhoons are the protectors of the EU! Lets gooo!
Usually the fastest time to altitude is, after takeoff lower the nose to build airspeed then climb to altitude at a sustained IAS to give best rate. There is a distinct difference between the best angle of climb and the best rate of climb. The best angle and the best rate have different IAS. For example best rate for a given aircraft might be 450KIAS, while best angle might be 250KIAS depending on load out/weight etc. Every aircraft is different. Some jets best rate changes with altitude. In a sense you can't conduct a true race until each aircraft's rate profile is predetermined, but then you don't need to conduct a video race because the spec is on paper negating the purpose of this vid, which is no fun at all - so carry on.

The real radar on the 35 is miles ahead of the 14, 16, 15, and even the 22. It's been described to me as follows: If an F35 was 50 miles behind a flight of 16's, the 35 will still see, lock, process, and assign target beyond what the 16 can even see. In this scenario, an accurate 35 mod would be best suited to taking off last, still seeing many of the bombers and being basically a small AWACS and quarter backing the whole intercept.
the f14 has the longest range radar ever produced on an American fighter. besides at mach 1.6 its the slowest of the fighters as well. in addition in real life situations the aim 54 has more range than the aim 120 c and probably the d as well ( the record from the aim 120 was a slingshot hit not a level flight or realistic attack)

Which is honestly one of the most hilarious, and sad things. Because the 14 and 15 were made for intercepting and air superiority, which they were great at, and then found they could also be used for ground attack missions - effectively making them 'Multi-Role' aircraft that were in some ways better. Ig they lost to any of the MR without errors like the 14B I'd have to raise an eyebrow - though I'm surprised the 15C lost out to the Raptor.
F-14 more suited for interception (against bombers, especially Backfires, above the sea, in not contested area - a fairly narrow operation scenario); F-15 far more for air superiority in contested airspace (namely the Central Europe). Different beasts for different roles.

The modern arg air force has been short on funding for a while id rather see a hypothetical scenario where there are 4 interceptors up against mirage iiis/5s and skyhawks as back in the day. Theres no awacs but a good radar on the falklands.
New mission idea CAP use the M-2000c as a Tornado with the new terrain mapping radar with very low level way points and a runway strike using the new anti runway bombs. If anyone makes a mod as a Tornado with these features it would be amazing 👏
As an Australian this just confirmed what I have heard we only have the capability to attack supply lines if China attacked plus the mh170 mystery means we are basically a sitting duck, god what happened to this country we got the best ally and still go looking elsewhere for military equipment.
24:21 you can fix this problem by running the planes one at at time instead of sqaudron scambles like you are doing. I know it takes longer but it would give more accurate numbers

Biggest shock was how fast the F-18 got to mach. It was only a few ticks behind the F-15 and F-16 in a climbing accel.
climb profile matters a lot. I think the F-18's did a proper zoom climb while the F-14's and F-15's shallow climbed.

Russian attack over the pole on North America (SU-57, SU-35, AWACS + TU-160, TU-95, and the TU-22M3 since their probes are starting to be refitted).
Vs
NORAD (Alaska based F-22, F-35, F-16, AWACS + RCAF CF-18’s from AB & QC).
Obviously scale and the map would be an issue, but you guys are some of the best improvisers around. Hopefully this one can find it’s way into a future video.

F15E won't be able to remove its CFT's and will probably lose to an F15C.
@@92HazelMocha the E model with -229's might outrun the C model depending on which engines and fuel load. The C model vs the E model with similar fuel over the entire mission, three bags vs CFT's would likely also favor the E model even if both were running -229 engines. Now, if limited to C model internal fuel only, I am pretty sure that the C model is likely faster without CFT's than the E model is with CFT's... Regardless of the engines. Of course, you can put CFT's on a C model (iirc) and the C model is lighter than the 2 seat E model for a number of reasons. Also there are other factors that may influence the outcome, like the targeting and nav pods, which don't make the mud-hen any faster.
Have seen two f-15's having a "dogfight" somewhere over south Northamptonshire (maybe further south depending on how high they were) and oh my gosh, what a sight.
They were like 2 kites dancing in the sky. I sat memorised for what felt like hours. Absolutely my favourite American plane.

i think the only 2 fighters that can currently carry the aim 120 d are the f22 and the super-hornet as well as some f16 test drones
An F-15C used an AIM-120 to score the "longest known air to air missile shot" in April 2021 and considering the Iranian air force has done a 132 mile test shot with the AIM-54, there's no way that missile was not a D. So at least one F-15 can shoot them. I'd be surprised if they're not integrated on most of them considering their mission set

So what happens if you get in formation with the missile and flip it with your wing? I was reminded of the Tempests and Spitfires crashing V-1s that way over the Channel (or sparsely-populated areas) in WW2. Noting that game-developer or modder access to the actual missile's flight control programming may be a bit limited.
According to that ever-unimpeachable source, Wikipedia, the Kh-65 was the export version with limited range and without nuclear capability. The Kh-55 was the real-deal nuclear-capable missile. For this test I imagine they were functionally identical.
Only problem showing mach # is that it's relative given the speed of sound changes with temperature, pressure, and density. supersonic at high altitude is subsonic at low altitude. It'd be more worthwhile to show it in knots.

Typhoon guys the Typhoon! My all time favourite aircraft is a such a beast! Even if this is a simulation, I pick the Typhoon, especially what UK have the FGR4! No chance for Russian SUs or MIGs versus this aircraft! And I forget to mention the pilot experiece. The countries who fly the Eurofighters have more hours than the Russian counterpart have. Crazy stuff. Typhoons are the protectors of the EU! Lets gooo!
Usually the fastest time to altitude is, after takeoff lower the nose to build airspeed then climb to altitude at a sustained IAS to give best rate.
There is a distinct difference between the best angle of climb and the best rate of climb. The best angle and the best rate have different IAS. For example best rate for a given aircraft might be 450KIAS, while best angle might be 250KIAS depending on load out/weight etc. Every aircraft is different. Some jets best rate changes with altitude.
In a sense you can't conduct a true race until each aircraft's rate profile is predetermined, but then you don't need to conduct a video race because the spec is on paper negating the purpose of this vid, which is no fun at all - so carry on.

The real radar on the 35 is miles ahead of the 14, 16, 15, and even the 22.
It's been described to me as follows:
If an F35 was 50 miles behind a flight of 16's, the 35 will still see, lock, process, and assign target beyond what the 16 can even see.
In this scenario, an accurate 35 mod would be best suited to taking off last, still seeing many of the bombers and being basically a small AWACS and quarter backing the whole intercept.
the f14 has the longest range radar ever produced on an American fighter. besides at mach 1.6 its the slowest of the fighters as well. in addition in real life situations the aim 54 has more range than the aim 120 c and probably the d as well ( the record from the aim 120 was a slingshot hit not a level flight or realistic attack)

Which is honestly one of the most hilarious, and sad things. Because the 14 and 15 were made for intercepting and air superiority, which they were great at, and then found they could also be used for ground attack missions - effectively making them 'Multi-Role' aircraft that were in some ways better. Ig they lost to any of the MR without errors like the 14B I'd have to raise an eyebrow - though I'm surprised the 15C lost out to the Raptor.
F-14 more suited for interception (against bombers, especially Backfires, above the sea, in not contested area - a fairly narrow operation scenario); F-15 far more for air superiority in contested airspace (namely the Central Europe). Different beasts for different roles.

Honestly in a strictly interceptor role I think the F4 Phantom could be a contender. It is faster than an F-18. I reserve the right to be completely wrong and have no clue what I'm talking about.
Not entirely sure, but I think a F4U Corsair might have been faster than a F-18C.

The modern arg air force has been short on funding for a while id rather see a hypothetical scenario where there are 4 interceptors up against mirage iiis/5s and skyhawks as back in the day. Theres no awacs but a good radar on the falklands.
New mission idea CAP use the M-2000c as a Tornado with the new terrain mapping radar with very low level way points and a runway strike using the new anti runway bombs. If anyone makes a mod as a Tornado with these features it would be amazing 👏

As an Australian this just confirmed what I have heard we only have the capability to attack supply lines if China attacked plus the mh170 mystery means we are basically a sitting duck, god what happened to this country we got the best ally and still go looking elsewhere for military equipment.
24:21 you can fix this problem by running the planes one at at time instead of sqaudron scambles like you are doing. I know it takes longer but it would give more accurate numbers
