Just remember one thing price is high but you get what you pay for I switched from ridgid to Milwaukee huge difference in performance Milwaukee blows ridgid out of the water also price is a lot different but when a m12 impact gun puts screws in faster an deeper the an 18v brushless ridgid impact I was sold thanks Milwaukee I’m gonna keep doing everything in my power to buy all the tools I can that you guys make

Suggested improvements: more power, larger hose to pick up wood chips in the shop, motorized beater head attachment for carpets, dry wet option, more pick up tools the included two is not enough, battery gauge up front where you could see it, a corded option once you run out of juice, remote control for stationary units for table saw, planer, or band saw. Don't think it would add more than $100 retail when they manufacture those options in quantity.

It is the strongest 18v vacuum cleaner I have had so far, only thing I have to notice is that in position 2 with a lot of fine dust the filter clogs as a result that the vacuum cleaner switches itself off.Position 1 is not a problem.Thats why i ordered extra filters.Greetings from the Netherlands👍

    Really excellent review, thanks !
Too expensive for a dry-only vacuum, the relatively low vacuuming performance it offers, the lack of a brush adapter as you've mentioned, and the somewhat expensive exclusive filters to replace. Milwaukee is known for offering some of the most powerful cordless tools on the market, their vacuum should also be up to the task by picking up very small pieces of drywall or wood chips, which it doesn't as seen in this video. It's a great design this idea of a back pack vacuum, but I'm afraid it's back to the drawing board for Milwaukee as far as performance is concerned.
Also, why would you let the motor run all the time on this ? Why not have a power switch smartly located to turn on the succion only when needed ? It would dramatically increase run time on batteries. We don't let cordless drills and impact drivers run all the time in between drilled holes and screws ? Why do it for a cordless vacuum ? You probably can turn off and on this unit manually, but the location of the power switch would make it awkward and impractical, especially when you wear it as a back pack unit.

Don’t waste your money, this is not a well-designed tool and it needs significant improvements before it’s worthy of the price. To be fair, I love two features about it; it’s super quiet and the mechanism for the wand was really nice. That’s where it ends.
My first real test was to clean up the wood shop; there's a lot of saw dust in a wood shop, but that's expected. After about 20 minutes of vacuuming, with 4 inches of saw dust collected in the canister, the power dropped significantly and the motor's flow was significantly reduced. I dumped the canister, but there was still no flow. I pulled out the circular, pleated filter and it was completely jam packed with dust. In other words, this vacuum won't work for trades. It might work for light duty house cleaning, but not serious construction site work.
    Here are my gripes:
1- The cyclonic dust separation unit is rudimentary in design and needs to be significantly reworked. On the first 20 minutes of use, saw dust was clogging half the holes in the first size exclusion cylinder and what didn't get stopped there ended up in the pleated paper filter. The pleated white filter was solidly clogged with dust. Take notes from Dyson, their filters see very little dust through really good design in being able to separate the dust from air.
2- The 4' telescopic wand is made of steel. It’s heavy and because the unit didn’t come with a small brush (really?), you’ll want to use the bare end of the pipe which will dent trim and be prone to being dented making it unable to slide on the tip attachments. The black plastic cuffs are too big a diameter for comfortable vacuuming. Why not anodized aluminum which would be lighter and less prone to denting (swinging mass)?
3- The body of the unit is too heavy. Who ever designed it had zero interest it making a beautiful tool and no finesse in finding an optimised design between durability, sustainability and ergonomics. They just used kilos of plastic to ensure durability meaning the device just screams "I don't give a shit about the end user."
4- Why did it not come with a small round brush attachment? I get the battery, but attachments are key.
I love Milwaukee tools mostly, but this tool makes me wish I had bought into the Makita family instead. I'd love my money back, this tool is a huge disappointment.

Nice job Rob. The review gives a realistic understanding of this vac's performance. It looks like a pretty nice unit, but is a lot of $$. I'm also thinking as a contractor by the time you need to clean up there is usually power on the jobsite. This seems to have a small audience because of its price point.

Every time you need to look for a plug in the wall is a minute or two that you could be working. I bet this tool saves you about 15 to 30 minutes just on that and probably more when you need to bring it into a house and pack it back into the truck.
Yeah it's pricy but if I do a lot of small jobs this would pay for itself in a week or two.

I agree... more power. I'd also like to see a self cleaning mechanism to make it fully table 1 compliant. Speaking of OSHA compliance, I was considering pairing this with the Milwaukee 5317-DE SDS Max Dust Extraction Attachment. Im pretty sure you have one of those lying around, and if you could let us know how it fairs with this unit, we'd greatly appreciate it. Great vids. Thanks again.

If you can do a Cordless vac compared to Dyson cordless would be cool to see how it rates on your test scales for the vacuums, as home handyman misses always runs over with Dyson, I understand Dyson doesn't like excessive dust (Drywall / Concrete), but as a bonus, could you maybe throw in a torture test on Dyson cordless just to see how much dust it will take to kill it. (Even if its a older one).

Bought the vacuum a few weeks ago and just was not impressed with it. Seemed like it lost suction right away.
I feel like I have to be doing something wrong because it seems to work great for everybody else & I usually love my red tools!
I bought it specifically to use while sanding, cutting & drilling. I don't want to drag my big 16 gallon Rigid around for that lol.
I'm gonna try cleaning it, checking all the seals & give it another try before I return it.

I’ve been in the cleaning industry for over 37 years , I know for a fact that anything with a rechargeable battery will not perform well . I’ve tried the Milwaukee 18 v blower “BUST”, tried the back pack “BUST” these machines lack of real power to accomplish anything decent , but if you are a 90 years old senior citizen , and want to pick a few Cheerios off your floor this machine is for you . Real men , need real power , Milwaukee lack on rechargeable power when it comes to blowers , and vacuums period .

In my shop I have a 2hp dust collector with a 4 inch hose and it still doesn't pick up screws or big wood chunks. To me that isn't a big deal.
I am doing a major cleanup in my shop right now and it's a pain to get to some places and something like this could be the answer. That to me would be enough.

Pretty sure it's rated at 55 cfm, not 75 cfm. The Makita backpack model is about the same at 53 cfm. The Metabo cordless and the larger Makita cordless are both 74 cfm.
Apologies for being a health and safety stickler, but emptying the canister into the bin as you've shown kind of works against the principal of containing the dust - maybe better to cover the container with a bag first, then empty.
I can absolutely see the advantage of these backpack models and would definitely get one for the work I do on restoring/repainting exterior windows/stucco when working off scaffolding - but would want - more cfm, longer run time and more control over suction - what do you reckon? Another 2 or 3 years?

This vacuum cleaner has a problem not discussed in sufficient depth here. If you vacuum carpet, especially plush carpet, none of the accessories included works satisfactorily. Yes, he mentions this, but only to emphasize that it is optimized for hard floors. On certain carpets, it won't work AT ALL. He also mentions that it doesn't have a brush attachment, which is restating the same problem. I looked for one at the Milwaukee store and none that they make specifically says it is compatible with this vacuum. Very frustrating.

I agree with everything you said. I go through 2 or 3 wet/drys a year. At this price that just doesn't make sense to me.

The reason it doesn't come with a brush attachment is because it doesn't have enough power to suck with air coming through the bristles.
This machine needs more power. Plain and simple. I love Milwaukee tools. This one is a fail. Sorry fam.....
