How nice that you noticed this positivity of hers as personal trait, not only as a part of childhood! Ellie has kept this positive and spontaneity in herself, even though events of part II. Just remember how wonderful she spent time with JJ… “Potato, Potato my little baby Potato” ☺️
She’s such a beacon of light for everyone they meet and fight alongside, but especially Joel. makes it especially hard after the winter chapter. she becomes so much more quiet and withdrawn
Ellie is my fav video game character. She so layered and unique. Watching your videos on her and Joel is also helping me understand and appreciate LOU2 (my fav game) for where it decided to take it's narrative more than I already did. It's a natural progression based on the consequences of love and choices
I also love Ellie. I played LOU1 in a dark time in my life, and I related to Joel and he's become my personal favorite game character. Ellie taught me that I need to stay positive in dark times and to not lose hope even when hope is rare to come by
I absolutely ADORE Ellie! Such a great juxtaposition of traits and emotion between her and Joel. If she had been a bitter post apocalyptic type it just wouldn't have been as engrossing. I'm definitely a Joel type guy, but I wish I could be more like Ellie.
Kids are a treasure. Their lack of cynicism is a balm to adults who are so life weary - they forget to pause and drink in the good (or sometimes, even the great). Ellie’s infectious positivity is a huge counterpoint to the virus. Figuratively and literally, she’s the cure.
I first played this game when I was Ellie's age and it positively changed my life. It's my favorite game for many reasons, and Ellie's character being one of them. I loved this video, thank you for sharing 😁 Question: are you gonna talk about the second game? I think it has really interesting themes you could talk about, especially after reviewing this first game. In any case, have a nice day!
I hope she does, it’s incredible but also divisive. I personally believe it’s divisive because a lot of people can’t accept what happened or refuse to consider the hard things, and I’m looking forward to her taking a mature and professional stab at it
shoot and i played it relating to Joel as an older dude, this game was one of the only story driven games that i had to play to know what happened next lol... sadly i bought the 2nd one and only played it for a little bit before my PS account got messed up
the Last of Us taught me lessons that literally changed my mindset and became a core value.... "Endure and Survive" has become my montra. And I also wanted to say "thank you." Because of you and this channels encouragement, I finally went out and am seeking professional help. and my goodness, it's working. Thank you SO much Miss Georgia.
Agreed! As I respect everybody’s opinions, I have to say I swear it’s like seeing the same opinion just a different account. And it always say the same thing…..EVERYBODY wants REVENGE whereas some ppl in this world…are not on that tip.🤷🏽
i'm absolutely loving these videos and they really encourage me to appreciate the deeper side to the last of us. you really perfectly captured ellie's optimistic nature and how it comes into play in her relationship with joel. great video, would love to see you do some on the last of us part 2 eventually!
I'm not a very positive person, but I want to learn. I really, really do. I am positive for others, but not myself. But what I've learned from this channel is that like with any skill, positivity is a habit and skill that can be built. I will keep doing my best, as you do. Thank you
Looking back now I appreciate how much Ellie and Joel's attitudes embody a lot of common Gen Z vs Millennial/Gen X dispositions toward our multiple concurrent crises and apocalypses, particularly with regard to how easily Gen Z cultivates a sense of humour/aloof distance from tragedy and hopelessness. Much of Gen Z never experienced or was realistically promised a stable life and world to look forward to, so the traumatic chaos and instability is all they have ever known. I think the DLC with Riley in part does a really good job of demonstrating that
Fantastic breakdown of Ellie as a character and her personality. I really enjoyed your Last of Us videos. You got yourself another subscriber! I’m definitely going to check out your other content. 😄
First? Booya! Ellie's positivity was definitely a focal point narratively too! The gradual loss of that was super apparent and terrible to witness to (e.g. when she had to kill David and that aftermath)💔.
Its nice seeing the contrast between brash Joel and sweet positive ellie. How both sides aren't inherently wrong like you said rose colored glasses can be a problem and so can toxic positivity. Joel's hard outlook is also what allowed him to make the choice that he did for Ellie, which while morally grey shows his full devotion and loyalty to her. you need positivity but you also need realism and sometimes that means taking hard to swallow pills.
I just love what you do! Not only emotional and sensible, but still professional at the same time. Just awesome! Got yourself a new subscriber, and a fan! 😊
Ellie's best quality is that she reminds me (in her good traits) of a certain redheaded cosplaying psychotherapist = ) My Dad taught me about the importance of humor and positivity by both precept and example. Visiting my uncle in B.C. on a family trip, my uncle's car got VERY stuck on a logging road. The ladies walked down a hill to pick berries, I ran back and forth between berries and the car. I was 11 or 12. One time, I came up the hill and a giant bear was there. Dad stepped between me and the bear. "Don't worry about him!" Dad assured me. "Maybe he just wants to help push! How about it, bear? You want to help push?" The bear looked at the car, then dropped back down on all fours and sauntered off. Dad smiled at me. "See? Nothing to worry about!"
Ellies positivity in part 1 is one of the things that makes playing part 2 so hard for me. I always loved her positivity and her curiosity for the world. I hope they can somehow bring it back at least a little bit in part 3.
Hello Georgia I have two requests. I’d love to hear your thoughts on “A plague Tale: Innocence” specifically looking at the relationship between 15 year old Amicia and her 5 year old brother Hugo. I’d also love to hear your thoughts on “Tomb Raider 2013” focusing on Lara and the emotions she goes through. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on “The Last Of Us” it’s very informative and shows just how amazing the story and characters really are.
You should check out the TV show Revolution at some point. I think it'd make for amazing videos. It's really similar to The Last of Us-especially with the main character dynamics in season 1. The way the show portrays trauma and war and survival and finding hope in a bad situation is really great. Charlie and Miles in particular remind me so much of Ellie and Joel. Also, fantastic video as always! I love hearing your take on this game! It's my absolute favorite!
You also missed, when Ellie was asked away after the comment about the view, Joel looked at his broken watch. Frozen in time, when he lost his daughter. This scene explains his devotion towards Ellie at the hospital. He will do anything to save and protect her. When Joel looks at his watch, he sees his daughter dying.
I try to exercise what I call honest positivity, to the point that it's positivity through nihilism. Like, sure, life doesn't make sense and on the global scale of things we're merely grains in the sand of the uncaring universe. But who the hell cares, if there so much to experience? And sure, it might not have a global larger than life meaning, but it certainly will have a personal meaning, and that's exactly what matters at the end of the day. And on a smaller scale of things I never say things like "it will be okay", or "just think good thoughts and everything will work out", because I don't have any moral right to, since I don't know will everything be okay or not. Instead I prefer to say smth like "I get that you're going through a very rough time, but I can promise you that nothing lasts forever. You'll make it one way or another, and to make it the best way possible, it's better to focus on the things you personally can change".
I would love to see some videos on The Walking Dead Game: Season 1. It has some of the most psychologically complex and emotionally realistic characters I’ve ever seen in a game.
might have to go back and play the games missed out the first time lol wish I had a bit more of Ellie's positively or atleast less doom and gloom laughter helps the deep from within kind.
Always liked that about ellie, but couldn't pinpoint it to a award like "positivity", i think the logic of this trait should be: "i need to go out there, there is alot to be depressed about, but depression will only hold me down so i need to be positive as much as it possitivity could be healthy"
I more looks at it like this, she finally closed her singled mind for revenge because all she had lost for following that path and are now ready to rebuild her life, but I'm an optimistic mind.
I think part of Ellie's positivity comes from her not being afraid of the infected (since she's immune), I'm not saying she doesn't care, but I think it greatly helps that even though you're surrounded by various and potential dangers , the one that worries everyone does not affect you... It gives you moments to appreciate things not having to be on your toes all the time (like most people), however, and although I think it is a factor important to take into account with Ellie, I think it is simply her personality and the perspective in which she sees things, since she can still lose people she loves and we know that it is her fear (being alone) and she still has that good energy... God, it would have been great to see Sara and Ellie together, they would have driven Joel crazy😂

Hey Georgia, have you played Part 2 yet? I think you would like to examine a lot of the characters in the game.

One of the reasons I love this character of Ellie so much. Her positivity and also her sense of humor ❤
My favourite trait of Ellie's is her not tolerating bs - and now that you've pointed it out; negativity is bs to her too
