The Baseball Network was such a nightmare for baseball fans. 1995 was the year that the networks (ABC and NBC) aired the Division Series and League Championship Series simultaneously and regionally. This meant that the entire nation wasn't guaranteed to watch the any postseason game of their choosing prior to the World Series.
Like where I live, I didn't get to see the NLCS between the Braves and the Reds because it was out of my viewing reach. Also, there was no uniform consistency with the scheduling. ABC did the first two games of the NLCS while NBC with Greg Gumbel and Joe Morgan did the last two. Likewise, ABC also did the first two games of the ALCS between Seattle and Cleveland (with Brent Musburger and Jim Kaat in the call) while NBC did Games 3-6 (with Bob Costas and Bob Uecker).
This was done because the strike from the year prior, wiped out the entire postseason. Originally, NBC was supposed to get the 1995 World Series all by themselves (instead of getting Games 2-3 and the ultimately decisive sixth game) as well as the Division Series while ABC was supposed to just get the LCS as well as the All-Star Game. This format was meant to rotate up through the 1999 season.

This was similar to 1969-75 where every LCS game was not seen nationally(and some LCS games were. Not even on National TV)

The Atlanta Braves proved that great pitching would shut down Cincinnati hitting in the 95 NLCS

Why did the Reds get Game 1 at home if the Braves had a better record that year?

Things have changed for the better now. Back then, the home team was not based on the best record during the regular season, rather, it was a rotating turn between the divisions.

@@ThisIsWhereYouFindBaseball Thanks for the explanation. Yes, much better now with the team with better record getting homefield.

Marge Schott was such a horrible and clueless owner even if you take out the utterly abhorrent things that she said in her personal life. She wanted Davey Johnson fired as the manager of the Reds even though Johnson took her team to the NLCS (for the first time since the World Series championship team in 1990) because she didn't like the idea of him living with his girlfriend prior to them getting married. So being an ignorant and unapologetic racist is okay in Marge Schott's world but shacking up with your future spouse isn't!?

      Understandable

That's how she thought. Her racism was well known, and it was a matter of time before she got banned for life in 1997 and was forced to sell the Reds.
