genshin has honestly been quite experimental with combining modern and traditional instruments. i think sumeru has had several such instances, as well as inazuma, and probably other regions too
@@hiddendrifts all nations were experimenting with a ton of traditional instruments. mondstandt and fontaine are kind of the only outliers with mainly the standard european instruments but with a few unique ones (typing machine, glass harmonica and wine glasses...)
The cost being by far the least representative of the region it was supposed to be. Feels more US native and Polynesian than Latin America. But I agree, the characters are really good so far.

I've decided if I want faithful representation I'll give my money to indie creators or companies that are respectful and truthful to all facets of the culture they pick from. It's why gacha games will most prob never get a cent from me
@@had-sd4hs Sumeru is very representative of a lot of things, architecture, music, lore..... i know people wanted dark skin but at least a lot of inspiration was there. Natlan has a bit of fauna and that's it, they went full fantasy on almost everything else. Still, cool region

I can't speak for the architecture however Both Sumeru and natlan have the exact same main problem, skin/colour representation. Also don't forget we did have a low-key white ppl Vs darker skinned ppl plot (essentially, and it was handled very poorly) and a whole world quest in which a lamp praises traveller (white, blonde) and says racist ass bullshit to darker skinned ppl (why don't you dance for me, be my slave girl, pour wine for my master etc etc) and traveller does nothing to stop it Natlan characters don't have a lot of dark skin, but at least there isn't blatant racism in the game towards each other lmao Sumeru is very good, but let's not brush over how it also had alot of issues

The music of Sumeru has clear inspiration on both SE Asia and the ME, the architecture, food, clothes, locations names etc as well. So did Fontaine. Natlan has nothing of that. The music is Crash Bandicoot, the architecture is full rpg and the locations as well. I'm not asking for a straight out copy of real world, the more fantasy they mix in the better. Key word mix, would be nice to see more irl inspiration. Too late for that, the entire region art direction has long been decided. Hopefully Snezhnaya gets the same treatment, as the world is justifiably not interested in Russia at the moment.
