Seems like a decently hard and not crazy friable stone but unlike say a shapton pro, it doesn't seen to be cutting that basic mid 50's rc stainless very well. Shapton glass is clearly a superior abrasive and the 500 glass is just a superb very well perfoming medium course stone, and I do love the very hard and minimally friable yet still good cutting shapton pro but the 400 chosera, which honestly finishes like some soaking stones close to 1k, is my choice. It's hard. Less friable than the 1k chosera. It's for sure one of the less friable choseras. leaves a great finish. Great edge. Cuts very well. Easy and nice to use. If it's $35 for this or $60 for a 400 chosera, I'd take the chosera all day every day. 400 chosera would pull a burr on that thing, even totally dulled out, real quick. The 500 glass is even faster, almost too fast if you're not carefull you'll change the profile before you notice if you're used to slower stones. Anyway I blabber enough. I'm always looking for something to challenge that 400 chosera. I looked at this one, but it doesn't seem like it stands a chance in hell.

The king 300 is amazing value for it's money but it's no Chosera 400 from what I've read. Here in Canada, the King is $35 and the Chosera 400 is close to $100. The King 300 handles VG10 very easily. One day I'll get the chosera 400.

@@jeffhicks8428 Yeah 15mm is pretty thin. I've only used the 800 and 2000 which I both really like.

@@quietsharpener Well, it's only 5 mm less than the 20 mm "professional" stones they sell in the US. The JDM version with the base are 25 mm tho. Other than the 10k ofc which comes as a 30 mm stone, which is partially why it costs so much. I have nearly the whole set of em, they're good, I think they're kinda hugely over-hyped by a lot of people. But that 400 stone is just so well executed and hits a sweet spot. A standout in my opinion for sure.
