Before I really got in to magic/mentalism this is how I thought tricks were done that had people write something down and the magician guessed it. Lol. So it’s surprising that this technology is just now available. Also surprising is that price tag 🏷️. Even though this is exactly something I have been looking for my whole life, I still can’t justify paying that much. (And I’ve wasted money on things in my time lol). I hope someone figures out how to make this a lot cheaper. Nice review!

you could probably make one yourself but for the time and effort it takes I bet $500 bucks is a deal. And it probably would not look as nice
If you do make one though I would like to see it . I recently spent all my free time on a weekend to build a gimmick that cost $100. In retrospect the time I would have spent with my family would have been worth the $100

The pad is also compatible with Peeksmith3 and, by extension, David Penn’s PI Revelations. Spectator can write down a 4-digit number on the pad and the Peeksmith will return the page, line, and number across in the PI Revelations book for the spectator’s 4-digit number.

Pencil reading and billet switching look so quaint now. This is actually a decent price compared to other electronic impression devices I've seen.

Truly amazing!! The price point disqualifies me from owning it lol. However, if you are a performing magician, this is an absolute must!! It'll pay for itself in a couple shows.

There is now a Sharpie for $56 you can use instead of the pen..... you have to apply ink to the sharpie tip though... but better option in my opinion. They should ship it with the sharpie included.
Omg, i think i want this, I'm thinking of promoting myself for practice this summer and if it goes well I'll invest in this, i performed for my daughters 2nd bday and an adult cried with a kaye effect, and everyone was in shock and emotion with the closerz so i think I'm on a decent track...
This sounds amazing…I even think you can have an assistant bring up a sealed prediction literally just a couple secs after they write down their word or number and turn it to a prediction style effect

Hi David, great review. I got on board with the kickstarter many months ago. Have had mine for a month. Broke my arm so havent had time to play with it yet. Will let you know. I obtained the whole package. I have been fortunate enough to have and use Hugo Shelley's Mind Pad for years as well as Fabrice DeLaure's clip board for years. I have used both for pre-show. I am excited for this as I really like the yellow paper pad. Will keep you posted. Have so been waiting for your review. Thanks so much for all you do! Just thought of something. This device can make any book test on the market totally obsolete. Anyone can pick any word from any book, write it down. Then finish up any way you want.

I, too, missed this on Kickstarter but I have it now and all I can say is wow! Great review David, as always. You are spot on regarding the ease of set-up, clarity of the video instructions, and the functionality of the device. I don’t typically rely on superlatives but this product has no comparison!

First , I can’t believe you never saw this before now. Lol
Second, I picked this up from their kick starter campaign. I have only had it for a month but I think it is amazing. I did not get the watch and now kicking myself for not. I did get all the goodies such as the palm peeker, and the notebook, and all the refills , but they also had a hotel room key fob prediction wher you can predict a hotel room number while the key fob is in their hand. I love that and already have a routine using “it’s a match”
I have not had any issues with connectivity of any of the items and the writing is clear. My only negative so far is I wish they would have made all the devices use the same chargers. If you have all the items you will need a power strip to fit all the chargers. The palm peeker is kinda small of course and that means the writing is gonna be small. These old eyes may have a hard time without starring too long, but the phone peek is great.
3, it hasn’t been mentioned but by playing around with it you need to tell the spectator to write clearly since another person may be looking at it. But that can happen with any perk device that has someone write . I have had people write numbers that were not legible.
The price is up there but I feel it is worth the extra money if you are performing.

I have all the devices. Super fun to play with. When they work, they are truly magical. Unfortunately a lot of people are having issue. The main issue is that the range is incredibly small. The palm peeker in particular has had a lot of complaints. Also, the watch is not rechargeable and has a short battery life. They recommend changing it every month.

Yea I have the white board version and sometimes the pen isn't pushed down all the way giving me half the picture and refilling the marker every performance is annoying so I only use it with large crowds and keep a one ahead for back up

Finally～ David you got it～ I’ve been using this for couple months and it is insane～～ And you know what, try to peel its skin you’re gonna have a thinner one, which you can place in the deck case very easily😂 And, you know what you’re gonna do~~ LoL~

@rocksun1245, can you refill it with any pad of paper as long as it's the correct size? Or do you need to buy a specific kind of notepad for a refill?
Works very well with their smart watch. I have S1 set the watch to a time of emotional import. Then have S2 chew "psychic gum"...then write a time of emotional import on the memo pad. Then I ask S2 to try to change the time on the watch using their mind. I then ask S1 to look at the watch and to say if it's their chosen time. (It isn't, of course. Reveal S1's time. Ask S1 to show S2 the watch and ask S2 to say if that's their time, which I then reveal. This is prob just a basic routine with these props but it totally melts brains.

How far can the memo pad and pin be from your phone to still receive the signal? In other words can you pass it out into the audience or do you need to be within a few feet?

This is peoples number one guess at how i do mentalism on stage even though I use traditional methods. Not to say that this tech shouldn't exist, but as it becomes more commonplace in our lives I fear mentalism as a whole will be less impressive
if they never see your phone - or peek device and you never take the pad back - there should be no possible explanation. Derren Brown says "check my ears for listening devices"

The Palm Peeker is utter trash. It doesn’t connect to the Memo Pad at all. So many people including myself have had endless issues with the Palm Peeker because it is that badly designed. Save your money on that part. The Memo Pad itself is great if you connect it to your phone though. So buy the Memo Pad, but not the Palm Peeker. Invest in an Apple Watch if you want to peek it on a small device
I have the palm peeker and it works perfectly fine, it works just as well as the phone. I got this on kick starter. Perhaps I was lucky. 🤷🏾♂️
Mine works flawlessly and is even faster and clearer than the app. There could be issues with some that are faulty.

There are definitely a faulty lot I think in that case. The replacement one they sent me is just as bad. Disconnects a couple of steps away facing the memo pad. Guess I’m just unlucky twice in a row 😭 Although so many people on the Pitata Facebook group have had the same faulty issues so it’s concerning to read the differences in certain devices compared to others 🤔
@@TomCockerOfficial Do you still have the shrink wrap insulation on the device? This can cause range issues especially when the device is in the memo pad
I'm still playing around with mine but I'm really disappointed. To me, it's just the same old tech advertising hype without the consistent miracle. For starters, Pitata didn't add an actual on-off switch. Instead you have to rely on sticking a small magnet (which you can easily lose which is why they provide several…they KNOW they’ll get lost!) on a specific area of the device and when taken off, it turns the unit on. Why? This is a poor design. Good luck at getting this just right. If the magnet moves around it may not be right over the needed area to turn the unit off and now your unit is losing power when you may need it later. Yes, you have an on-indicator light but Pitata tells you to put tape over that "because it's too bright" and will be noticeable. Really? Why not just fix your cheap design for this price-point?? If they had a manual on-off switch it wouldn’t adversely affect things. You’d turn it on inside the playing card tuck case or memo pad and then perform. Then manually turn it off. Done. Oh...and also, all the ad-copy about it fitting in a playing card tuck case? Wrong. Pitata ships the unit to you with a vinyl protective cover. This makes it too big to fit in a tuck case as advertised. If you remove it your warranty goes bye-bye. And what's more is Pitata TELLS you to remove it in the tutorial if you want to fit it into a tuck case !! So again, it's advertised to fit in places like this but you have to ruin your warranty on a $550 piece of kit to make it work? What’s that about?? Just…fix…your design Pitata!! Then we come to the pen. The charging port is in full view in the butt of the pen. What is Pitata’s poor design-answer to this? To provide a black sticker to fit over this. Again, cheap, cheap, cheap. Logic would tell you that when people take off the cap of a pen to write, the natural inclination is to stick it over the end of the pen (which a mentalist would naturally do to cover the port before handing to the spectator). BUT guess what? The pen cap is too small to fit over the end of the pen so no-can-do. Really??? So their cheap and poor solution is a silly black sticker over the port (oh, no, THAT’s not noticeable! How many pens do you write with that have a black sticker on the butt-end????). Of course, by the way, the sticker will have to be removed each time you re-charge. Again, horrible design long-term. Save your money. What a waste.

These devices have been around for way over a decade, the difference is they were reserved for pros who could keep a secret, instead of fools who will ruin it for everyone.
