      The pickups are identical, the strings on the EVH were old and never changed and the strings on the pariahs were brand new! Old = warmer, new = brighter.

    The pariahs have a smoother tone, but the DiMarzios sound so much closer to eddies tone, which is exactly what I like.

      Kinda agree... there is little more bite in the Dimazios... but the smooth sounds awful nice in the Phariah... guess it depends on your rig and what your ears prefer...

    The Poundcakes are pretty well spot on, I've been wanting a set for a while now and have been debating between these and an Air Zone or AT-1 and Air Norton combo, these are probably the winner for me...I agree that I'm sick of people whinging about clean tones though, this is rock and we like distortion!!

  • @sonnyboo

    That "Axis" seems more like an EVH because of where the pickup switch is at. The EB Axis models have the switch closer to the volume knob. And it doesn't say Axis.
    Both guitars sound incredible. That d-tune is exactly period accurate for 1991 Eddie.

  • @cheesewesil18

    I’ve watched this few times, I’d say the dimarzio has that sizzle which is typical but the pariahs are smoother like a Duncan would do, both would do the job 🤙

    Dude! Awesome playing and thanks so much for doing this comparison. I think you just helped sell some Pariah Poundcakes. So they are definitely in the same ballpark, but I have to agree with those saying the DiMarzio's just sound a little warmer the Pariah's a little hotter. Honestly the Pariah bridge sounds almost identical to the DiMarzio ToneZone pickup to me in these clips, but that's ok because The ToneZone is a great pickup. EVH could have made any of these sound great and probably thought it funny how for so long now we've been splitting hairs on this stuff.

    Jeremy first off, solid playing and your tone & effects is spot on. I think the Dimarzio's sound alot like the record but the Pariah's sound crisper and hotter. I you were going to play live I think I would go with the Pariah. it catches your ear more. Keep up these videos

    • @JeremyWhiteShow
      @JeremyWhiteShow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, I agree! And with lower gain, the Pariah’s are hot enough to get all the goodies out of the guitar. The DiMarzio obviously sounds amazing, but idk there’s something about the pariahs I just really dig. ⚡️

  • @andrewmaher8409
    @andrewmaher8409 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for doing this. They both sound so good. We need to take into consideration any differences between actual guitars, and also allow for how we would tweak amp settings etc, if it wasn't a back-to-back comparison. Also, the different sounds your hands make on the strings compared to my hands would be greater than any difference between the sounds coming from these guitars... I guess what I'm saying is those Pariahs are really on the money.
    Thanks again.

    I love the Pariahs I've had.. but this audio I have to give the ever so slight nod to EB.. definition was just a tad less hazy. HOWEVER.. This is the type of video I was looking for before I got a set of Poundcakes, ironic it shows up after I've already bought and installed them. I too am a fan of the Pariah set over my Dimarzios (which I loved and have in multiple guitars) and even though I put them in arguably the worst guitar I have, it sounds the best hands down.

      yeah this is a cool demo to hear the differences between 2 similar guitars, but you can't a/b pickups without using them in the same guitar. There's too many variables to say it's the pickups that are brighter/fuller/warmer/etc.

      I am glad that someone else thinks the same way. I am certain that a pickup from 1994 EBMMEVH sounds different than one from a 2010 Axis. I had both of these and they sounded very different. I did not swap the pickups, so the wood could be a factor (two different guitars). And you also need to have the right amp to compare. Some amps add too much color and you will not hear the subtle differences.

      Don’t forget, I’m playing on the red channel an it’s pretty cranked... Obviously it’s gonna be a little noisy, blue channel they are very quiet! 🤘🏻

    Why do the crappiest guitarists have the nicest gear??? Probably because they don't have a girlfriend spending their cash!

    Find your own sound dude, hahahaha. My Wolfgang actually sounds like ME,
    The Dimarzio ( green guitar) sounds more like him.

      I had new strings with the pariahs, old af strings on the DiMarzio and only realized after.

      @@JeremyWhiteShow Nah- there's something about the originals that's different. They're a bit looser but fatter at the same time.
      If you listen to your video without watching you can pick the originals easily.
