I can't believe I found your video because it's exactly what I was looking for. I'm thinking about a move to this neighborhood and since I live in Penang, Malaysia this is perfect. Thank you so much for your attention to detail...great job!

Wow! When I lived in Thailand almost 25 years ago, none of this was here. Soi 71 was a real working-class dump without a farang in sight. Now it looks like a swanky foreigner hipster ghetto.

It seems like 25 years ago, it was around the time Myanmar immigrants started coming to this area.
The first time I learned about this area was when I came to look for a Myanmar restaurant.
Since then, it has become an area that has undergone tremendous changes over time.

@@MaeilBangkok Soi 71 was definitely a very poor and seedy area back then. Clearly not anymore! I do have fond memories of eating Isaan food in a very small, dark restaurant a little ways up the soi. There was this dark, savory stew made from organ meats, intestines, etc., as well as varioua salads (prik). I wish I could remember what that stew was called. I have never had anything like it since. I am sure that restaurant is long-gone by now.

Thank you for watching my video.
In fact, Japanese bars and restaurants have been around for a long time.
However, about half a year ago, the number of Western-style pubs, restaurants, and live bars began to increase here, and now various industries are trying to coexist.
More than you might think, this street is a place where people of various nationalities gather.
