    They can’t trade Herb, even if they tank. I believe Herb could accomplish somewhere near what Mikel Bridges did offensively with the Nets if they give him free rein to shoot and pass as one of the lead ball handlers. A smart franchise would trade CJ and Ingram, sit Zion for this year, and allow Herb to run some of the show offensively. He should drastically improve his trade value under those circumstances. Even if Herb accomplished 70% of what Mikal did on offense he likely fetch a similar haul as the one Bridges pulled. Herb is so much better defensively, even though Mikal is a good defender, and he is on a better contract. At that point the team could potentially trade him if they were doing a franchise reset.
    With that said Griffin is an idiot. He has shown he has no respect for players who hustle, play good defense, and do the little things that win games. Every year he has traded one of our best intangible players without fail. Here is the list below:
    Jrue Holiday- Jrue has gone on to play integral roles in two NBA championships, while Griffin has squandered the assets he got from the trade.
    Lonzo Ball- I don’t want to hear that it was smart not to sign him because of his career threatening injury. An injury in Chicago does not guarantee one in New Orleans. Lonzo was a highly underrated defender by just about everyone involved with the Pelicans including the media and fanbase. He did all the little things that contributed to winning. He had flaws, but was a great fit with his cast. When he went to Chicago they looked like a deep playoff team until Lonzo got injured. Then they suddenly dropped off a cliff the second he was no longer available. Griffin had no assets to squander from the Lonzo trade because he actually took back negative assets. He didn’t even try to include Lauri Markenson in the deal even though the Bulls were trying to give him away. Even worse Griffin was forced to trade a first round pick (#13) for Devonte Graham because of the hole left by the absence of Lonzo. That pick turned into Jalen Duren. Mark Williams went two picks later. Tari Eason went 17. Walker Kessler and Christian Baun were still on the board. Maybe Griffin takes Jalen Williams at #8 instead of Dyson. Why draft Lonzo’s replica. Maybe even Griffin could have packaged #8 and #13 to move up to select Keegan Murray. Even worse than all of the above the Devonte trade was such a disaster that Griffin had to trade 4 more second round picks just to get rid of him. This was all thanks to the Lonzo trade.
    Josh Hart- Another highly underrated player by the same people as Lonzo. Many claimed this was the best trade in Pelicans history. Those same people doubted Josh would become who he turned into his last season with the Pelicans. You never doubt a player who has proved he will put significant effort to improve himself, much like Herb Jones has. Josh Hart has gotten even better since he left, and even had two games last year where he was one assist away from a 20 point, 20 rebound, and 10 assist game. Immediately after Josh was traded to Portland every podcaster who covers them said the energy of the team completely changed and they were much more exciting to watch. Portland actually went on a winning streak after the trade before ownership pivoted and shut down all their players so they could tank. I view this as the trade that sealed who the New Orleans Pelicans have become. The Pelicans to this day have not looked better at any point since the Josh Hart trade than the team they were 15 games prior to it. That team gave it everything they had every night and were exciting to watch. A team that fought back from the league’s basement. They had a true team identity based around that commitment to hustle and camaraderie. The combination of Herb, Hart, and Jose combined into something greater in those 15 games. Jose was the chaos maker. Herb was the capitalizer off of that chaos. Josh Hart was the clean up guy, who was always first to lead the pack after a turnover for an easy transition bucket. All three had many other strengths that lent themselves well to the weaknesses of the other two. That identity doesn’t even include Naji Marshal who was a hustle player himself. The Knicks are a perfect example of a team built around these kind of guys.
    Naji Marshal and Dyson Daniels- Another two players whose offensive output wasn’t good enough for Griffin, so he undervalued them. Now they are flying high with their new teams, making rapid improvements every day contributing to winning games. Dyson is in talk for defensive MVP along with Wemby. He’s on pace to destroy the all time record in deflections. He has over twice the deflections as the second closest guy. Naji has averaged 4 straight games of more than 20 points. The fans love both of these players, and talk about them the same way we do Herb. Much like Jrue was talked about when he went to Milwaukee, Hart was talked about in Portland and New York, and Lonzo was talked about when he started with the Bulls.
    We can even go farther back in the Griffin tenure to a forgotten player if we want, and we will.
    Kenrich Williams- He was known as the hustle guy for the Pelicans. The guy with the intangibles. All the fans loved him. Griffin didn’t though. He gave him away as a salary dump in a trade. Griffin did not respect his offensive output even though he was only two years pro. Griffin didn’t realize that Kenrich worked tirelessly to improve his own game away from mandatory practices. Griffin underestimated him like all of the other former players above. Kenrich in his first year with Oklahoma became a staple in their rotation. He improved his three point percentage to 44% and his effective field goal percentage to 60%. He has continued to shoot near 40% from!3 every year since. He has improved everywhere as a player. He still plays and is loved by the fanbase for his winning intangibles.
    It’s easy to see why Griffin failed miserably leading the Pelicans organization. Why he has built a team in dire need of some accountability. Griffin had no respect for the players he should have. Players who were accountable to themselves. Players who didn’t need anyone to tell them they should do the right things. He has built a family of star players who have no desire to do what it takes to be winning basketball players. He has overvalued players with measurables over their impact on winning games. His early draft selections before Willie Green arrived prove that. Jaxson Hayes, Nikole Alexander Walker, Kira Lewis. All home run swings based on measurables. Griffin has gotten himself in the dire situation he finds himself in. He failed to realize you never underestimate the importance of work ethic. He still doesn’t understand the importance of it, which is why he will be fired soon.
    To sum things up do I think the Pelicans should trade Herb? Heck no. Do I think Griffin will trade Herb? Maybe! He and Jose are the last of the Mohicans. I’ll let everyone else decide what Griffin will
    do though. I’ll just say Griffin certainly doesn’t value Herb as much as he should. Herb does have the measurables though. So there is some hope.

    Like Ross said…Herb is the only valuable player on the team.
    Dude would be a superstar on a large market team. One of the greatest to ever suit up in New Orleans.

    No no no ... i wont let yall forget.. Lets not forget yall.. Remember last season when we was winning games but we was loosing to every good team.. Yall was saying trade Herb cause he was the weak link... Cause he wasnt stopping the Bookers and the Lukas and the other good players and he would only avg 5points wen we play good teams... I remember this... The only reason yall saying DONT trade Herb is cause we loosing and ZION not playing... If ZION was here and we was winning games yall wouldnt mind... HERB came back after injury this year an helped win one game and yall act like he the savior... He is not...He is a great Defensive player against avg nba players and a below avg defensive player against real good nba players.. and he is a little below avg on offense... So fans stop with the " Please Dont trade Herb"" cries... we gonna be ok if Herb is gone... once we get our top players back on the court at the same time

      @ 2019 as the number 1 option he was an all star as a number 2 he avg 24 6 and 5 add cj to that he avg 23 6 and 6 you talking about a team accomplishment when the team is always hurt lmao that doesn’t take away with how nice b.i. As a player put b.i. With Steph or Greek and he healthy they would be going to the finals

    • @JCream561
      @JCream561 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@ShotByBrick that was 5 seasons ago and if you want to talk about individual accomplishments, all you’ve got to show for is one all star appearance. So if the team is always hurt why would we keep running back this same failed experiment? He’s not a #1 option carrying some hurt team. Slim sideline is part of why they’re always hurt. Carmelo Anthony was nice too, had way more individual accomplishments, and had to be a 6th man. Why hasn’t the warriors or bucks made that trade if you think they would automatically be in the finals with Ingram?

      Do you think Brandon is as good as Luka or something or Giannis, Lebron, Shai like bro they get to the playoffs by themselves Bi can’t do that we seen him for 4 plus years as a 1st and 2nd option we always in the playin dude is a 20 million dollar player he’s a scorer nothing else

    • @ShotByBrick
      @ShotByBrick 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ stop bro none of them players ever did nothing by themselves closest thing to doing it himself is A.I. in 2000 nobody can win by themselves if Zion and B.i. Stayed healthy they would win but one or the other always hurt

    This is my issue with yall, I enjoy the podcast and I understand that we have to have tuff conversations about players, coaches and front office but some of these BS sources that throws these trade rumors in the air are ridiculous. Yall have better information about the team than those people. Shams is not always right and neither are others if you haven’t peeped game they watch local podcast and steal talking points so they can have so called “ insider “ information. Pelicans would have to be having a absolute fire sale to trade away significant players without a guaranteed superstar landing in New Orleans. Ingram is done in New Orleans so finding a number 2 is important but the elephant in the room (no pun intended) is when will this franchise move on from Zion. Nobody is coming here to play along side him, no star or superstar. The franchise just showed you they don’t give AF about a player coming back from injury to help the team or trying to keep the team in playoff contention they will turn around and lowball you come contract time while overpaying the hyped guy. The only hope this small market has right now that makes sense salary cap wise is trade or let walk the two stars, continue to tank and don’t make any dumb signings with the money you save from getting rid of both. We don’t need no other teams castoff players in return. Acquire two lottery picks. Shams and bleacher report are BS artist they stealing yall information im telling you

      Not only are no players the equivalent of Ingram lining up for the "Zion experience", no player on the Pelicans current roster is bringing back anyone of Ingram's caliber in a trade. 😂 Once Ingram's gone, the Pelicans as a dark horse contender in the west are finished.

    You all got big recency bias. When Brandon went off in that Phoenix series, yall were ready to give him anything he wanted. You're thinking about the OKC series, and now BI is a bump. Check yourself.😂
