I just had a conversation at work with a woman who was looking for “I hate you, don’t leave me” because her son was recently diagnosed with BPD. I love that they updated and revised it!
Emma! As someone who has been diagnosed with Borderline, thank you for speaking up for it and giving it a little bit of a prep that it never gets. When I tell people I have a personality disorder they often treat me different, which upsets me, but with people like you educating yourself on my illness I hope the stigma will be broken. My therapist actually just gave me “I Hate You Dont Leave Me” So that I can learn more about my illness. I hope you enjoy!

Thank you for talking about I Hate You; Don't Leave Me! I've been recently diagnosed with BPD and learning about it has been an uphill battle so finding new resources is always exciting.
So proud of you for sharing your own background as a child of a parent with addiction. I feel like it is so hard for people to be open with that. It is like saying my parents were addicted so what does that say about me. I am also a person that grew up with drug and alcohol addicted parents. I think being a relative especially a child of addicted parents means you have had to see the real world at a young age, you have likely had to take on adult responsibility and you are a capable of dealing with difficult things because your experience has made you face challenges. It also means that you are vulnerable as you have likely had to deal with pain and disappointment. I hope that you personally have found healing and strength and that your father is doing better.

This is such an amazing haul! CBB was everything and surpassed the hype. The Astonishing Color of After, Twelve Steps to Normal, and Royals are all super high up on my TBR. I'm so happy you found a book that relates and connects to you the way Twelve Steps to Normal does
If you come softly is a great book. I read it in 7th grade and still have my copy! With was about 20 years ago for me so totally cool people are still reading it!

I really want to read Royals as well, since it kinda reminds me of The Royal We, just from a different perspective (because in that one it's told from the perspective of the girl getting married but she does have a sister who gets tangled up with her prince's brother)

I read "Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine" this month, and it was fantastic. It has such a raw main character and deals with friendships and mental health. It was so great!

I am really really interested in the book "Life Inside My Mind" book you mentioned. It is outside of my typical reading genres however I am extremely intrigued by the book! I love watching your videos cause they always introduce me to books I probably would not pick up on my own (since my TBR is forever expanding instead of shrinking haha). :)

I recently took a trip to New York city, and got to go to Books of Wonder for the first time. It was absolutely amazing...
Pumped! I watched the entire first video- and despite the population I loved it- so this one is top notch 💕

confessions of a sociopath is really interesting! i listened to it as an audiobook, which i think was a good choice for me. the voice narrator of the book did a really good job of not putting inflection on certain parts that i think i would have tried to if i had been reading it in my own voice. the dispassionate tone really helped me to understand the author better without trying to push my own understanding of the way the world works onto her.
i think i'll have to pick up the audiobook!

Just a note though, as someone who has BPD, as much as I Hate You Don’t Leave me is informative, I think a lot of the info, especially around treatments is outdated compared to where we’re at now with understanding the disorder. ‘The Borderline Survival Guide’ by Chapman and Gratz has proven to be super useful though as it’s more up to date and doesn’t pass judgement or the like! It has a lot of information and advice for coping strategies too. It’s a really useful book and definitely worth checking out when you can!
It would be cool if you did a list of best self help book for anxiety and depression.

Bipolar, not so much is a super interesting and informative book on a unique and new view on bipolar! I am bipolar and I found it very relatable, more so than any other book I’ve read
I have BPD and I’ve been meaning to pick up I Hate You, Don’t Leave Me. As someone with BPD, that title could not be more accurate. I’m sure my mom would agree 😂

Confessions of a Sociopath and I Hate You, Don't Leave Me are two I would love to pick up. I have been wanting to get into Psychology books but had no idea where to start. So thank you for adding these to your haul. It means a lot, as someone diagnosed with depression (who also thinks she may have BPD) having you talk so openly about your willingness to learn more about mental illnesses is a breath of fresh air.

Thank you, so much, Emma. Since going on my meds I am doing significantly better. I still have low days, however, they are further apart and nowhere near as bad as thy used to be. I used to be terrified of taking meds but they've helped me so much, as well as giving me the motivation to get things done and get out of the house.

So many of these books are right up my alley and I’m loving it! Currently reading Heartless and Marissa Meyer is most definitely cementing herself as one of my all-time favorite authors.
I really should be reading, but I'm here procrastinating. Children of blood and bone sounds very appealing to me, however my TBR's have become exceedingly excessive. Perhaps I'll re think this idea in a few months time. Another great video Emma!👍🏻

If you’re interested in BPD you should look up “Get me out of here”. It’s a great own-voices book about borderline personality disorder.

If you like I hate you don’t leave me, you should definitely read ‘sometimes I act crazy’ it’s the book I give people to understand me more as I suffer from BPD and it’s a very misunderstood illness.

If you like furyborn please read Claire Legrands other book ‘some kind of happiness’, it explores escapism into fantasy to cope with depression and anxiety and it’s absolutely phenomenal. From the perspective of an 11 year old! Ahh it’s so good

Twelve Step to Normal is like SO GOOD. I didn't experience anything of the sort but I feel like the author tried to show the best part of it and not the worst. And I really did enjoy it.
