Another great episode & as always so interesting, full of great tips & especially both your thoughts on the competition photographs. As you both say its so subjective! I like the critiques on your podcast entries, all the info helps us amateurs 👌🏻
Great podcast guys, I’m a fan 👍🏻 I was totally surprised at the end when you showed two of my images…I’m the_feral_photographer. Thank u so much for your constructive criticism, it’s a first for me and a great way to learn…I think it’s a great feature to have at the end of your shows, helping us amateurs to improve. I will keep using the # . Look forward to the next show…
Enjoyed this conversation, guys! Gonna have to listen to more episodes. Thanks for the mention - and by the way, you missed my 2nd WPY awarded image which was the book cover in 2015 (elephant B&W), but I concede that my 1000D wildebeest image deserves a mention because it was taken with proper entry level camera gear haha. Keep well gents!
Great episode! I always wanted to get into photography, I love the medium so much, but have never had the money to do so. But it is wonderful to watch you guys talk about the details, I really learn a lot!
Just finished watching this episode and really enjoyed it! Having entered a few competitions before, you have encouraged me to keep on trying. Love the crits on the hashtag pics - very useful tips.
Good chat guys! Big fan of Pangolin and SAPOTY competitions. Have entered both in the past and each time get so inspired looking at the winners! Talented people out there!
Hi guys this has been brilliant to watch. I share ALL of your sentiments about the winning images of the various competitions. And I know that sentiment is shared by so many photographers that have seen these photos. It’s frustrating because I find that everyone I speak to about this feels the same, and find it hard to believe that the judges were the minority that felt differently for so many of the winning images. But as you say, it’s all subjective. There are big, and welcome exceptions though- I LOVE this years Africa Geographic POTY winning image, the SAPOTY winning image, and the following two WPY winners: (1) the red fox and arctic fox and (2), the groupers spawning. However while watching your video, I noticed for the first time that you can see another diver and his/her equipment in the top right for the photo, which detracts slightly from my perception of it. Thanks for a great video- keep it going!
Thanks so much for the awesome comment, Matt! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the podcast - it’s for people like you that we make it 😁 And here’s hoping that the three of us sit at the same table at the Natural History Museum in London one day 💪🏻 If anyone can do it, it’s you! 📸
Great episode and podcast. Looking forward for the next episode. Greetings from germany
Thanks Dennis!
