My dad went to high school with Jack Burns. In fact, in one class he sat next to him and said Jack was always cracking him up. So he watched the show regularly.

Avery Schreiber was my hero. He walked on stage one night when I was performing and I got to do a scene with him. I was scared out of my mind, but breathed and as your dad would say, "Just go for the agreement," so I followed his lead. I think we were funny, but I also think I blacked from nerves. ;-) He was a brilliant man in many ways. Thanks for posting these.

I’m glad Jack flourished after being on The Andy Griffith Show for such a short time.

This could’ve been a prime opportunity to have Ted Knight on screen with Jack Burns…just so people could hear the lack of difference.

      It went like this:
Burns: [Asks Avery any question requiring yes or no reply]
[The next sequence were spoken in rapid succession]
      Avery: Yeah [Normal Voice]
      Burns: Huh?
      Avery: Yeah [LOUDER]
      Burns: Huh?
      Avery: Yeah [LOUDER]
      Burns: Huh?
      Avery: YEAH!!! [LOUDEST]
[Ending with an Avery slightly perturbed Yeah reply which was loudly spoken]

I came here for the "Doobie Doobie" bit. Still stuck in my memory 48 years later.

+Da Flyboys I saw it first in another show where he did it to a kid. The joke definitely comes from a time where computers were still these giant gadgets that scientists used. Of course, in 1977, the Apple II changed everything.

Hmm....so this show aired during the '70s? Lucky or me, this is a first time viewing, because unluckily in Utah I don't remember seeing this show, then again the LDS Church probably had some decision making as to letting the show air or not.

These great comedians repeated the computer skits at a Japanese gardens Dear park (Buena park or Canoga Park) TV show in 1972. As well.

I remember Avery fondly from my youth, I however, had forgot about Mr Burns...he hasn't aged well; and he never gets along with that Simpson fellow!

1:20-1:23 - The trademark of their comic dialogue was the bouncy, rapid "HuhYeahHuhYeahHuhYeahHuh" between the two.

Hello! I am currently teaching teenagers how to do mime. One of our workshops is on faces. I remembered loving Avery and his computer shtick when I was a kid. So, I have been looking all over for examples of it in order to show my teens. The computer bit in this is so short, do you have anything with a full computer routine? Thank you! (and potentially thank you from a new generation wanting to learn from your Dad)
