Thank you for video! Last year at this time, we had 21k in credit card debt and our interest rate was 22%. I still get sick to my stomach when I think of how much interest we paid over the years! Yuck!! This card has been since paid off. It feels sooooo good.
Way to go!! I know what you mean, but look forward not back! You have learned the lesson and incorporated it into your lifestyle, so won't be going back. 🎉
@@celestebarrentine3922 thank you!!! so true! It’s also marathon not a sprint 👍. I the debt pay period to be over quickly but I know that isn’t reality.
Such good advice. I have come to realize my Super Power is Self Discipline. Everyone has their weakness. For me it was shopping. I grew up in a family that did not manage their money well. I had to learn later in life how to manage money.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos!! You keep me motivated and made me smarter as to better control my finances. From the bigger things (paying back credit cards relentlessly & moving my raise to a separate account) to the smaller things (leftovers, selling stuff I no longer need) ... The extra benefit of you channel is that you are not preachy ❣
For last 4 or 5 yrs I've taken my yearly raise and save it. Was living w/o so keep living w/o, saving the extra. I have no subscriptions. Eating out is not extreme but done but usually it's breakfast and, where I live, can get 2 sausage biscuits w/ small drink at McDonald's for $5. And a happy meal w/ no apples but extra fries for same so not overeating either. Then save change I get back and in 2024 I've saved over $135.00 (that's what I have rolled already)and 1 1/2 months left in year. I don't watch tv.
I find physically moving money to my savings keeps me on track. I have a goal of X each payday and moving it physically has really helped me create a habit of saving. Even while paying off my credit card debt I still saved, I know many will disagree but it did create the habit of saving and paying more on debt…almost there , but I do have an emergency fund…that matters to me
I use a credit card that gives money back for purchases. I’ve started a new habit of paying for purchases made on it with my checking account the day I make the purchase.
As a single mom you read my mind but I will be starting from December to February, I not going crazy for Christmas at all ham slices instead of a whole ham !! Starting my own business. I don't have spare time
Thank you for sharing the interest chart! I think sometimes we need to see it to fully understand the impact of how we are spending our money and the interest we pay when we do not fully pay our credit card monthly.
If there's a book you're interested in reading- check local library for available copy first (it can be done online). But less of, but more frequent- or buy the larger amount but freeze what you won't be using soon.
It is so true… Restaurant food is not nearly as good as I remember it being. We have not physically been in a restaurant for over five years. Seriously. Do I miss it, not a chance! Our meal out is adding a rotisserie chicken and a salad, possibly coleslaw salad to the grocery order. We have not even been doing that lately. 😂
As always, I love this video! If I had watched this a year ago, I would have been discouraged because we didn’t have the additional income to save. But now that our credit cards are paid off AND my husband got a promotion, $$$ is going in savings!!! 🎉 Tips we are following: BUDGET BUDGET BUDGET! Track groceries, gas, bills & entertainment money. Don’t eat fast food, it’s horrible for you. Definitely get a high yield savings account! Set a goal with a physical tracker to color in, and do a happy dance when you get to do so 💃🏼
Rachel, these are great reminders! Also, I am so excited for you and having your credit cards paid off! Tell your husband congratulations on the promotion! 🤗
Great tips, as usual. You mentioned potato chips being processed... unfortunately a bag of potato chips makes me very happy. I'm working on cutting back, but it's hard because I think chips are the best snack food/junk food ever! I loved when you said God's opinion is the only one that matters. Happy Holidays
if you get rewards from your credit card use the gift certificates that you earned to go out to eat or treat yourself instead of eating out or spending your cash. just make sure yo pay off your card
Thank you for all the time you put into this video! I do like making a game out of living frugally. I just have to share things I'm doing with like minded people and not my sister who says I deprive myself. LOL
Good points. I open a high yield savings account 4.5% to deposit my SS check. It's difficult to get cash because no branches are near my house. I don't keep card on me.
this video changed something in my head. i realized most of the things i want to buy are actually very, VERY unnecessary. from now on i'll try to stop myself buying those things as much as i can. thank you so much.
If paying down credit cards is your goal, try to stick to your nose spend for at least 6 weeks. That first set of statements that includes your no spend efforts is very empowering. Love your channel!
We won’t be going out for breakfast ever again if possible. Me, my husband and my 13-year-old daughter went to go have breakfast that would normally have cost us about $25 to sit down and have a breakfast now $70 and that includes tip will not be doing this again plus I cook better anyway.
Yes, 'sneakily' is a word 😂😂 love your videos, Jennifer. In my country you can digitally turn on 'Round-Ups' with some accounts, which does the rounding up for you and ships it all off to a savings account or investments if you prefer. I do that and it's amazing how much it adds up.
I hope you vlog your no spend January, Jennifer. Here in New Zealand, January is summer holidays, February back to school...so I might have a miserly March! 😂
Thank you for this video. Our savings rate this year has been 22% on our gross income. We are increasing to 27% for next year. That makes me feel really good. I'd love for that to boost to 30% + for every year thereafter until retirement. Some of this "savings" is for sinking funds that are meant to be spent. I'm wondering if you feel I should deduct the sinking funds from our savings rate?
These were sensible tips - and good to see some advice in there about indirect ways to save money. Yep, eating cheap but bad food is going to cost you more in the short AND the long term. Yep, smoking is also going to come with a long term cost when it impacts your health. One thing I think Americans should demand is better bank accounts - the kind that come with budgeting tools, low overdraft rates, and built-in optional hi-interest savings accounts (I’m in the UK and I currently have a 4.30% savings pot and. 3.85% pot (I save for different things in each pot) through my current account, accessed from within the same app). It’s wild to me what you guys are expected to put up with, and US banks really ought to up their game.
I’m not sure why I don’t do what I should. I love your passion, and wanting to help! I do put my head I. The sand.. I wanted to move my money to high interest yet now I have everything in automatic it’s daunting task.
I save money, just making good coffee at home....just the way I like it...instead of having coffee outside....@ $2.85 a cup a day...that is $1,040.25 in a year ...not including tips....That's just about a R/T airfare to many places....

Hi there! Those are some of the most impactful tips I have used, so I continue to repeat those in videos with a wide variety of other ideas. I hope you have a wonderful week 🤗
Unlike other niches on TH-cam, finance is pretty straightforward when it comes to what to do. Ive watched nearly all of her videos and although I’m quite good with money and know most of the tips and tricks I think it’s a great way to remind yourself of all the options and one can always improve or get back on track! 😊 doesn’t always have to be some Groundbreaking new thing - sometimes all the power is going back to the basics! 🎉
