I hope that your are using O2 compatible grease to lubricate the o'rings NOT regular silicone grease even if you aren't going to be using the equipment with >21% O2. The regulator most likely is already lubricated with O2 compatible grease. Mixing silicone grease with O2 compatible grease is a very bad idea. Always use O2 compatible grease on regulators and respective attachments/accessories.

Curious as to why your DMT is teaching sidemount configuration setup? There are also some mistakes in this. The piece that goes into the SPG is called a spool, not a pin. Proper terminology matters.
He also doesn't seem to understand why the longhose is on the right or why he dives it that way. When teaching sidemount, it is important to understand all the different configurations and to be able to explain why you chose the configuration that you did.
I applaud you on making the move to sidemount and look forward to your seeing your journey. I hope you take a proper sidemount course from someone who dives sidemount almost exclusively.

Make sure you install the necklace bungee on the short hose 2nd stage, in a way that's adjustable so in case of an oxygen toxicity scenario when the victim convulsing it can be pulled tight and holds itself in the mouth. Also, a breakaway botsnap to the long hose (at the very base of the second stage / hose connection)

I did get the necklance on, had to take it off my regular reg longhouse last minute because I forgot lol. My IT also told me to change the Bolt snap to a breakaway

I was always told to use 2 spanner’s when tightening up the 2nd stage. Just makes sure you don’t damage the 2nd stage body.
