Yes,he uses the harmonic minor scale...most metal uses that scale as well, its a very powerfull emotional scale, evoking darkness, evil and doom.

Sorry, though there are some classical songs that do really well when converted into a metal format (Night on a bald mountain springs to mind) I think Toccata and Fugue is one of those that just don't work. There's a contrast in the original, between the harshness of the main line, the harps and so many other varients that just putting in metal guitars and drums looses, and the song suffers for it.

@DrSmokeTrees Wow...you. That said, I'll point out that Switched On Bach made music critics and purists cringe, but for many, it was their first contact with Bach. I see this treatment in that light. The piece was written to celebrate the range and power of a church or cathedral pipe organ -- the polyphonic keyboard of its day. Had Bach ever heard a Moog bass pedal, or a well-played Stratocaster, he may well have wished he could work with these instruments. We'll never know, huh?

did you not read what I said? Yes, the majority of rap nowadays cannot even be called bad poetry, because that would still be calling it poetry. My point is that one should not judge an entire genre on the basis of there being examples of shitty artists. Rock, rap, country, classical, metal, techno, etc., they all have some artists that really suck, but they all have artists that are good as well

That is an over-generalization, although u do have a point. Most rap nowadays is complete BS, but that is not to say that all rap is bad. The hallmark of good rap is if the lyrics can be equated to poetry, which is becoming increasingly scarce.

@DrSmokeTrees Ha. am I preaching about Jesus or the new testament here?
It doesn't matter what your religious beliefs are and I'm not going to get into an argument about Biblical interpretations.
What I was referring to when I said taking a piece of out of a Bach piece is like taking a piece out of the Bible is an actual Bible verse that you would know had you read.
which is why I made the comparison to begin with, don't insult me out of ignorance.

i don't understand what you mean. i understand you are a musical bigot because you are prejudiced against the musical genre "hip hop"if you choose to hold this opinion then that is your right. but, to say it's not real because its made with a computer also means that any recording that used protools is not real. which then means any metal track after (circa) 1994 is not real music. any band that uses dsp effects/ amps is not real music. so i guess in the year 2012, there is zero real music.

  • @KesslerWatsonMusic

@guyboy625 Well, it depends on how you look at it, but the reason I compared them is because of a Bible verse talks about how he who takes pieces from the Book will be taken from the book, and he who adds pieces to the Book that weren't there will be also taken from the Book. I am comparing the Bible to the musical realm. Whoever made this piece will never be known as Bach was known, simply because he mis-interpreted Bach's genius, like a jackass.
