Tip for others and/or next time, use a step drill bit for those 8mm holes. They're much better for drilling sheet metal and will leave a clean hole whereas the standard twist drill will tend to grab and tear when it punches through as seen here. Snorkel installs are a good DIY project but it's nerve wracking making holes in your car.
