    That commander is just like a Sherman. Any small defects in the surface has the potential to really throw you out. I'm so keen for a 150km range suspension wheel.

    Wow, very gorgeous views . You definitely inspired me to get one so I got the high speed commander since I'm a Sherman rider.

      Nice. I hope the high-speed version is just as nice as my high-torque copy. Still love this wheel.

    Hey Marty, Ten of us just raced up Glendora Mountain Road to the Mount Baldy Lodge early on Super Bowl Sunday. There were no cars or motorcycles on the road and our start and finish lines were the gates that closed the road at the bottom and the top. I was the only guy on the Monster Pro - everyone elase was on a Sherman. Roger and Mike Martens stayed several hundred yards ahead of me most of the way up. They slowed down together so that Roger could flip his GoPro to facing behind him "because that's where everyone was", and I went speeding past them. I had already fought off the death wobbles in a couple of turns and was questioning my sanity at this point. Mike and the Roger then passed me back. I was trying to stick with Roger when he wobbled and then did a super slow wobbly crash coming out of a turn. I slowed to make sure that he was okay. I later passed Mike when he determined that he was home free and had time to take a leak. Mike then passed me back with a half mile to go. I was within a hundred feet of him coming down the last quarter mile. He saw me in his mirror got the wobs while braking and I tried an insane late-brake that actually worked. Mike's wheel cut out with 100 feet to go and I stopped while still going about 1mph when my belly hit the gate. It takes 40 minutes for the whole road non-stop. My top speed was 50mph and yes Darknessbot needs to be adjusted downward. It's strange being at the lodge for breakfast. We went to the ski lift afterward and I only had 7% battery when it was over because racing uphill zaps your pack.

    What I would love to see is you taking some of the routs on the east side of the Serra Nevada's. There are so many roads leading into the Kern valley from the South, and so many roads leading to the the 14'ner of SoCal. Maybe a trip to the foot of Whitney, or up the road to the North/South Palisades, one of my favorite adventures. If you go up the North fork of the Palisades to Lon Chaney's Cabin or beyond to Temple Crag, that would make my day.

    wow nice ride, empty road, the dream :) , simple question; there is a big differrence between the Commander and EX-N speed ?

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the high-torque version of the Commander and the high-speed version of the EXN. Obviously one is faster than the other and one has a lot more torque than the other. They are very different wheels.

    Hi cowboy !

  • @marksac5080
    @marksac5080 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What kinda beeps were you getting, speed or heat beeps? I can't believe I already want to ditch my EXN for a Commander. It's not easy keeping up with Marty. I need more range. After 35-40 miles of riding I'm just starting to enjoy the ride. Thank you for the video.

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No overheating that day. Speed beeps.
      When a wheel overheats the beeps are continuous, not intermittent. Plus the wheel will tilt-back aggressively to kick you off.
      The Commander is a really fun long distance wheel.

  • @thefoss721
    @thefoss721 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey it’s me again lol, sounds like the wheel did a great job and didn’t overheat… did you already test this wheel or did you check the temp at all this ride? I thought I missed it in the video somehow! Lol

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I've done a lot of testing of the wheel. See my Commander Playlist

    Where would you position the OG Commander in the present day, compared to the competition?

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They never fixed the "runs hot" issue and of course there's no suspension. It's an old wheel by todays standards

    • @A-Viking
      @A-Viking 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ElectricUnicycles Good points, I watched most of the content on the commander available and Im hoping the "runs hot" will solve itself due to being situated a bit further North from California ;-) still good to know what to keep an eye out for.
      My S22 seems not to like the cold in winter so I try and not shut it off while outside, maybe the commander running hotter will actually be a benefit in those scenarios like on long winter rides.
      and yeah for sure its 2 years old, probably the reason I got 2 for the old price of 1 from speedyfeet albeit with a bit of a paperwork hassle from customs over private sale etc, I been asked where to get EUC's over here in Iceland from riders visiting so I figured id jump on these "light" 36kg 3600Wh wheels at less than 2000$ a pop delivered to the door

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@A-Viking Ian at Speedyfeet is a great guy. I've actually bought a few wheels from him (~7 years ago) and talk with him periodically. Certainly an advantage of the Commander is that it can be had at a great price. See my "cooling mod" video if yours does happen to run hot. And of course it really depends on your riding conditions. Good luck, and it's cool to know that we have EUC riders in Iceland 🤜

    • @A-Viking
      @A-Viking 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ElectricUnicycles 🤛Yeah he is, Got my KS16 in 2019 from him aswell, Ian was moving shop and had 4 unused wheels left from a older shipment, told me he was taking 1000GBP loss on each wheel and I believe that. I'll keep that cool-headed mod in mind if things get heated up tnx ;)
      and it is cool indeed, it feels like EUC early days coz of how few have got used to them over here, so dominating the attention as it were :D

    Most of us in the rest of the world cannot understand this concept of "road closed to traffic". What are these California roads for?

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are various mountain roads like this in California that are periodically closed to cars because of: fire danger, high winds, road repair from storm damage. But bicyclists can still ride on them. In the case of this video, there is a section of road further on that only has one lane open because of storm related damage. So the entire interconnected road system (about 40-miles) is closed to traffic.
      Perfect conditions for me and my fellow EUC riders :-)
