    OH BOY!!!! Every once in awhile I come back and watch a video that I have seen before but maybe didn't recognize in the thumbnail...... And when I recognize the video, I still watch it again because it's that good. I wish you guys were living a few hundred miles south of where you're at...... It would be cool to have friends as smart and nice as you guys.

    Imagine that with carbon fiber spars for added rigidity and solar panels on top... That would be one hell of a long duration flyer.

    Great fun. I especially like the technical discussion on what was being seen. So...when do you start 3D with this thing?!

    that was interesting. I'll pass on the design, but the principles involved are fun to think about. Thanks for another great project.

    Wonderful, thank you.Would be good if you could put up some data. Like airfoil section, CoG, Wing area and loading? Where’s the rudder? How much power does it use? Have you thought of covering it with solar cells? I’d think it would be good for 700W - 1000W worth though you’d increase the weight by 3kg or more.

    This seems sort of epic, worthy of greater attention and duplication. Perhaps the limit to its popularity is its need for still air.

    Beautiful aircraft and great flying. Camera man made common mistake of keeping the video zoomed in close all the time. Might as well had the aircraft just hanging on a string. Staying zoomed out more give some perspective in relation to the ground and the speed of the aircraft. Happy Flying

    Like one of the comments below, you keep saying RUDDER ? I guess you could control yaw with differential thrust... I bet on a thermally day it would be scary to watch it fly.. interesting video, thanks for showing...

    no sweep in the wings but its still so stable. how?

    • @Lanzbik
      @Lanzbik 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      tdstudd1996 drag and lots of it lol, also differential thrust probably

    • @jdplus3
      @jdplus3 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      tdstudd1996 planks can be very stable and aerobatic even. BUT the CG is very unforgiving- it has to be spot on.

    • @dabraze
      @dabraze 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the previous reply-ers missed the actual meaning of the question. "How can it be so stable with no wing sweep?" The answer is a reflexed airfoil. The entire trailing edge curves up slightly from the datum line. Just do an image search for "reflex airfoil". The center of gravity will be much further forward than on an airfoil with a conventional tail. The nose weight provides a fixed force, trying to nose the aircraft down, and the reflex airfoil provides an opposing force that varies with airspeed. Just like any stable aircraft; fly too fast, the downforce on the tail increases, lifting the nose, and slowing it. Too slow, the opposite happens. The downforce decreases, the nose goes down, and it speeds up to its stable cruise speed.
      Even if the actual airfoil is a flat plate, as in this case, the elevons (control surfaces) will have a slight upward bias, which is, in fact, a reflex.
