Thanks so much for this, I've been meaning to get round to creating a better starter audio effects preset than I had cobbled together and this was super helpful. I've definitely been exporting too quiet!
Thanks! Very helpful! (I start with EQ and take away anything I don't want so those sounds aren't triggering the compressor, but if it sounds good, it's good!)
You're welcome my friend. And thanks for subscribing I really appreciate it. Keep driving your channel and join Sean Cannall at Think Media's VRA training. It's very helpful. God bless you.
Tim, thanks for your quick response! Yes, for sure, I saved your preset and it will be used for all my next videos on youtube channel: Wanna Walk. I was wondering if you can make a tutorial about the FCPX included plugin 'stereo spread' and one about the FCPX Balance > Mode > Ambience -- I use a GoPro to record, it's sound is week and I want to improve it as much as possible without using a big microphone. Thanks a lot 🤩 @@SlipstreamCreativeAgency
The best way is to open the Compressor and raise the input dial on the left until it is between -12 and -6 dB. My final projects are around -6. Other Folk export louder but its not necessary and you can get distortion.
Hey Tim. Yes, I made the compressor work between -12 and 6 db and works great. What I mean is that you maybe can also create a video about the FCPX included plugin 'stereo spread' and one about the FCPX Balance > Mode > Ambience - I know it's a totally different setting but i'm sure many will find it useful @@SlipstreamCreativeAgency
Awesome detail video bro, keep up the excellent work, nice well explained for this video. Very helpful tips & tricks, I sure was using Compressor wrong on FCPX & sure didn’t understand each of those figures concepts. Which is why my audio was prolly terrible at time. But awesome video great tips. God Bless
I don't really think it's necessary, I just make sure my audio is hitting between -12 and -6 the majority of the time and every time I check LUFS they're right where they need to be. If your audio is too loud websites like TH-cam will automatically limit it.
YO, genius video. improved my audio so much!!! I was previously CRUSHING my voice with the compressor!! Bruuh 🤣
Love it. Cheers buddy.

Brilliant. I'm pleased I could help.
Tim, excellent teaching delivery. Thank you.
I appreciate that buddy. Thanks for the encouragement.
Thanks a lot for the detailed tips to handle the audio in fcpx! Very helpful for my project!😊
Glad it was helpful!
Really helpful video Tim - I appreciate the clarity of explanation :)
Thanks for the comment Andy. I'm glad it helped. It's worth saving as a preset and then just tweaking it for different environments, voices or mics.

Thanks Brent, that's a good tip.
Great tutorial! Thanks for all your tips!

Thank you. Pretty useful. Works great 🤩
Ah, brilliant. I save it as a pre-set. Then any recordings you can use it as a base to then tweak.

Hi thanks buddy, thanks for letting me know I really appreciate it.
some suggest use a MultiMeter to get -16.5 LUFS. Necessary?!
You'd have to try it and see if there's a difference.

Shouldn't EQ come before compressor and limiter?
Experiment. My view is level out the audio first then do a minimal adjustment with EQ.
