  • Diesel prices are out of control so can a small snow blower save my back and money at the same time. A free snowblower needs a quick service and we will find out.

    I grew up in the 70's with a 1939 Allis Chalmers model B. My dad gave $200 for it in 1969. Non electric. A couple of hand cranks and she fired every time. Started better in the winter. We did everything with it from gardening to snowplowing. What an amazingly capable machine. About 18hp I believe. Wheel weights and tire chains, couldn't get it stuck. It pushed a ton of snow, no problem. Back when winters in upstate NY were winters, long and heavy. My brother still uses it to this day. Plenty of parts available new or used, and easy to work on. If you someday add a small gasser to your fleet you will have no regrets. You will probably wonder why you waited so long to get one.

    Howdy Simon- I have been somewhat surprised that you haven’t gotten snow before now. Believe it or not we had snow here in Arkansas last night and some predicted for the first of next week. Was 83 degrees Fahrenheit day before yesterday. Crazy weather. Hope you have a great weekend. God bless

      Hi Paul,
      yes I know I have been watching the polar vortex, as I said it has been pushed over the top by the jet stream that means to you. Last year it was -33C or -1F now and today it will be 35F. I should be thankful but just seems werid still walking on dirt. Take care Paul and God bless.

    Thanks for the video and your time putting it together. Weather is strange everywhere. We received 6 inches of snow this morning. Not normal for St. Louis, MO. Oh well, all I can do is sit back and look at from the window. LOL. Going to be cold

    Greetings Simon! I have an idea... you know how some folk allow youngsters to come and live to learn life skills.
    Now... get a few young ones to come and share the load - you give some sorry souls refuge and a warm bed and they do the snow blowing and/ or shovelling! If I was 40 years younger I would volunteer - just so I can be the butt of your wicked sense of humour and a plaything for Kasper!

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a great idea, I have thought about this many times. Then I remember how stressful I find other humans and stop thinking. You would have to be a special person to want to learn from a tyrant. ( a ruler who has no legal limits on his or her power by law or constitution). Although I am more tolerant than I used to be. Now having said that I would have jumped at the chance to do this when I was leaving school. To be honest I like to publicly humiliate you in any case. Much love AJ.

      @@arctic-rebel Haha... and I would love to be publicly humiliated... well, maybe just once.. anyway, I'd love to think I could be of value... even just if I keep Kasper entertained... and maybe feed the chickens... and the worms. I could only wish the carburetor could get cleaned and fixed and back on in that short period of time in real life LOL. Thing I don't like about those little snow blowers as I own the Craftsman one is the bar is down way too low it's almost like you need to put a set of handlebars that are uprised on it to make it so that you can actually be comfortable using it. Are they wasting time kind of are they handy at some spots kind of do they have a purpose sort of good luck I'm sure you'll continue using it .
    Ps , they don't like heavy wet snow .😠😄👍 . I have to clean the carb on my self propelled I own .

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is one of those jobs that is way to easy to put off, no one really likes doing them, it s not like the old days when a carb came off and reeds went, then the front wheel came up just when you weren't expecting it!
      Fortunately we don't really get wet snow so I am sure it will come it useful. Thanks Heith and I am please to see you made time for some gold hunting.

    Hey Simon.
    Fuel is overpriced everywhere. I feel for. You
    Here in Canada, fuel averages 2.50/litre, or 11.25 /gallon
    I can put 50.00 in a 20l can now, where not long ago I would be hard pressed to squeeze 25.00
    Cost 30.00 to fill my little Ford 1210 compact tractor now! Crazy!

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dave, I was thinking about the cost of harvesting the tree's and therefore lumber prices but that is extend to all prices. Can you imagine what it cost to fill a semi! I don't know where it will end but it cant be good. Take care out there and have a great weekend.

    • @celticrider06
      @celticrider06 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arctic-rebel a friend of mine hauls grain with 3 semi’s , 2000.00 Apr to fill each!, guess who ends up paying for all the extra cost? All of us consumers! It is crazy to think we allow a bunch of oil producers to dictate how much they will produce in order to fix the prices, then hold us hostage for a product that our world revolves around

  • @matthewnasci2646

    You're in a bit of a conundrum simon. The small fortune spent on a winter of diesel could buy a small gas tractor. Hmmm...what to do? I feel your pain. Maybe just stay inside and feed the fire til april.

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Your so near the truth Matthew, the 1050's tractors were all gas and you can still get good working ones here and they are cheap. I am sure there will be a day when staying inside for the winter is an option but for now the fight must go on. Have a great weekend.

    Those little snow blowers in my opinion ain't worth squat. I've never used one but my son was given one by his in laws & says he can shovel quicker than push that around. I have a self propelled husqvarna that throws about 15'. Also a plow for the lesser accumulations.👍👍❄❄🌬🌬

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  ปีที่แล้ว

      You heard my opinion Robert, I am sure they have a place I just don't think it is for me. I have a large snow thrower but it needs parts but when you see how quickly the tractor does the job I think I will stick to that and just be mindful of the run time. Thanks and have a great weekend.
