The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, sinfonia for two oboes and strings by George Frideric Handel was created in 1749 at London’s Covent Garden Theatre as part of his new Biblical oratorio into the first scene of Act III in the oratorio Solomon. This one is rarely performed in its entirety, but Handel’s bright and lively interlude The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba (in A major) is a widely appreciated processional set piece. In the Book of Kings, the Queen of Sheba travels from afar to visit the splendid court of King Solomon, arriving, as the bible mentions with a very great retinue, then camels bearing spices, and very much gold, and precious stones. Handel’s music admirably captures the excitement of a lavish state visit of an exotic foreign Queen, and first-night London audiences would have had no problem reading of Handel’s depiction and the coming of a compliment by their reigning monarch, King George II. Be like a good Prince in love with glory, and make a story of you. This King must have been a lover of art. *Lucien*
I am here from Jennifer L. Scott's channel ...The Daily Connoisseur. Indeed, this is an incredible piece of music. Thank you for playing it so beautifully , with skill and passion.
Amazing music, but what amazes me the most is violinist with glasses. (No offence) all of the band plays exactly what they have to (and they do it excellent!), but she enjoys it! Take a look at her face at 1:52... She LIVES that music! Dear (put Yuor name here) that performance was GREAT!
This has got to be one of the best musical and visual performances of this piece, the violinist and flute player are stand out performers, to be fair all the musicians are top notch.
Dear friends of baroque music, please like this video and honor the ladies who managed to summon the Queen of Sheba as if she were standing at the edge of the stage and about to take the baton.
I do not know how many musicians form this ensemble but as far as the cameraman is concerned it seems there is only about ten, show everyone will you!!!!
She just can't expect to have Solomon's wisdom to be shared with her. An honest anticipation, which is wonderfully portrayed in this beautiful interpretation.
Beautiful performance of one of my all-time favourites. Thank you very much.
We enjoyed watching you at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles this weekend. Thank you for an incredible performance! ~ Jennifer
Una perla che non mi stancherò mai di ascoltare
Brilliant!!!
Beautiful 🎉
This is the recording for the intro to the Netflix Series "Merlí, Sapere Aude"

First violinist must have as strong cheek muscles as the oboists as she is smiling all the time. I love it.
The piece of cake: the pair of baroque oboes.
please educate me, what is the correct name for the wooden instruments they are playing ?
They are baroque oboes. The predecessor of the modern oboe (fewer keys and lower sounding pitch)

I seem to be wandering in the musical aesthetics of Handel to spread infinity
Really Beautiful, congrats and thanks for sharing it
Beautifully played piece of energetic and uplifting music
Great music, well played.

Mensch seid ihr hervorragend

The Queen of Sheba must have run the four minute mile before Roger Bannister. The Sixteen have the best version in my opinion.
I love this at any tenopo!
Is the Queen running? Or just walking in a regal mode?

You can tell from the oboe lines sounding muddy that this is too fast. Should be melodies clear as a bell.
Do you play Baroque Oboe at this level?
If so, please demonstrate clarity on your instrument, playing this work.
Thank you.
To fast
No. This is true. Arrival Saba is full energy.
