*0/10* _Needs more Gaston_
well of course, he was actually a well set up villain who gave the film real stakes, and served as a contrast to the Beast
this movie? closest it had to villains were greedy businessmen who never appeared in the fi;m and Beauty's evil stepsisters whose plan was basically 'hog beauty's time and hope her husband to be died from contrived bullshit' for...ummm....because evil?
and as much as people make the stockholm syndrome jokes, at least the dinsey version gave them an arc to their relationship and actually DEVELOPED it.
Even that one old black and white live action version that Some Jerk With A Camera and Kyle Kallgren reviewed had a Gaston.
mattwo7 lol, too be fair, he's the one to add a Gaston. There wasn't a gaston in ANY version before XD
Seems like this knockoff is following the original story. Kinda, sorta. Beauty did have brothers and sisters (who were kinda terrible people), and her father's ships did get wrecked and leave them poor. The whole reason why Beast gets mad in the original is because he was kind enough to let a complete stranger into his house, let the stranger sleep in his chair and eat his food( I also believe the Beast lets him take some jewels as well, but I'm not positive), and then Beauty's dad repays his kindness by trying to steal a rose from his garden. Granted it was for his daughter but still. Beast in the original is actually pretty civilized. He never asks if Beauty will die in his place or threatens to kill Beauty and her dad. He only wants her to come of her own will. Also he never touches her, the entire time she's in the castle, and the only time they interact is at dinner every night, when he asks her if she loves him. And when she says no, he doesn't punish her. He's like "cool, see ya tomorrow." Beauty does have like weird dream interactions. But its her interacting with Beast in his human form (she doesn't know its him) she actually falls in love with his human form but every night before she wakes up, he's like "Things aren't as they seem." He does give her a magical ring that lets her see her family. Her sisters do convince her to stay but not cause they want to kill the Beast. And she does rescue him from dying of Heartbreak.
Honestly Disney made the right call to change some of the aspects of the story. There is a reason its a classic. Also thanks Chad for braving this Hideous movie. It truly is ugly on the inside. Also sorry this was super long.
There is a version on Netflix by Christophe Gans in French that covers the original story but well and it goes just like you say here. Probably many more I don't know about as well that stick to the original story.
Yeah, I've heard of it, but I forgot it was on Netflix! It's funny cause that movie is a remake of Older Jean Cocteau movie. What a small world!
It's definitely NOT a remake of Cocteau's film. This one has a rather different story line with the Beast angering the forest god and how the roses were representative of the late Princess he had planned to marry long ago. It's not a bad movie; very lush and extravagant.
Glad to know its good! It looks beautiful. I will have to find time to watch it.
I can't unhear Phelous' voice for Old Man, I just can't. Even with the original dialogue, all I hear is Phelous.
Speaking of, this knockoff Beauty and the Beast is kinda a guilty pleasure thanks to him. It's not good, at all, but it's the better of the other Beauty and the Beast knockoffs.
The fact that this version gave us Old Man alone makes this far better than the other knockoffs.
"The only thing that could save him now is.. Yep.. You guessed it."
A kiss.
" *Magical tears* "
Oh.
The fact that I can feel the surprise in this comment is a testament to how stupid their script was
The Beast's human form legit looks like Gaston.
maybe it is xD disney pretty toke him useless world and being into beast..
Maybe that’s why there isn’t a rip-off of him in the movie.....
デグレーットヒロX Na, that would be her brother with grey hair and a ponytail. He looks to be a recolored version of their Eric knock off
*Cue all the old man jokes*
@@JoesAnimationHub Speaking of Phelous, here's what Old Man's real reaction to the treasure he got in exchange for giving up Beauty: 10:37 - 10:51
What’s that song I hear? “Be our guest. Be our guest. Eat all our food. Leave us dead” Well, don’t mind if I do!
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!
"The beast must have a ton of old men breaking into his house and eating his food" XD
Prideful Master That's the greatest shit I ever had I sure don't envy whoever has to clean that up but I said I had to poop and the door opened so I guess I was welcomed to let loose in there!
Is no one going to mention that human Beast looks EXACTLY like Gaston...?
*W H O A H O R S E Y*
So you’re reviewing the Goodtimes Beauty and the Beast?
How...unexpected! Heeeeeeeeee!!!!
Yo! I've been in the long process of moving across the country lately and now that I'm all settled in and set-up, I'm back to making videos full force! Thanks so so very much for stickin' with me, means a lot!
Lewtoons would review the new Star vs the forces of evil season 3 movie
Or the Knockoff of Pixar's Up (there is one)
Boy oh boy, you really think this is the worst version of Beauty and the Beast ever? I don't think you've seen the Bevanfield version yet
And wow, that's actually what Old Man said to the Beast? Man, I keep forgetting that Phelous isn't actually the real voice actor for him
4:50 It's the old man! Phelan Porteous pretty much made the old man the mascot for his channel. XD
Anyway, I love that you're doing another knock off review. These are entertaining to watch. This one especially with how freaking bad this adaptation is. I may not have enjoyed the live action version of the Disney movie, but I'll take that over Goodtime's version any day.
Hey! You're reviewing the knockoff featuring Old Man, Airhead and the Goomba-Warthog! Muh-God! Nice :D
fanofwar40k Now he needs to see the one with snap crackle and pop as the pac-man ghosts.
“Would it surprise you to learn that this is the worst knockoff I’ve seen yet?”
Oh, sweetie, you haven’t even entered Dingo territory yet...
All I can think of is Phelous and Old Man!
Tru Pype I am so happy people here already know who old man is. Thanks Phalous!
Oh no this isn't the worst Beauty and the beast. The Bevanfield one is , at least things happened in this version. The Bevanfield version is about as exciting as watching paint dry.
I owned that one when I was little...and I loved to watch it...today..no. just no. XD
This movie just makes me think of Phelous's review
Old Man is a true icon on his channel
The comments have now made me want a Lewtoons + Phelous crossover review of a ripoff film XD
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The one thing the knock off did better than Disney
Is not make the Prince look worse than the beast
In Disney's version, the prince looks like he is stoned. I always thought when I was little that the prince should've stayed a beast just because of his actual apperance...
Ashlee 123 In most Disney beauty and the beast-merch I've ever seen, he is also portrayed in his beats form instead of his Real form.
TheDukeOfSodor ( comical faints)
I think the disney's beast 's human form in Disney's beauty and the beast is handsome.
Over half of the comments are Old Man quotes from Phelous. I am not disappionted. WHEEEEEEEE!!!!
If you skip at just the right time's you can get Bell-Knockoff to say
*"I've been Gay my entire life"*
Your welcome.
Actually, the Grimm Brothers never recorded a version of Beauty and the Beast (they were recording tales to create a strong German national identity and while they may have muddied the definition of German tales, Beauty and the Beast had clear French roots), Goodtimes literally pulled that credit out of their asses. And this does mirror the French version very closely, except for the thieves part, as the fairy tale never specifies why the family became poor. Tho imo following the source material closely isn't necessarily good in this case bc I find pretty much every character in the original version to be extremely unlikable.
Thank goodness Lewtoon posted this! Without it I would have surely died....

"I am in your gratitude Beast.."
"WELL I AM NOT"
Last time I was this early Disney knock offs were actually good. Oh wait that's because I have never been this early.
Wait till you see the Golden Films versions of Pocahontas, Anastasia, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
I know for a fact that in the hunchback of notre dame has gaston in it
You all need to check out the 3-part Hunchback movie adaptation that was made as part of Mondo World’s “Super Little Fanta Heroes” series. At first, aside from the almost-Dingo level animation and the fact that it completely rips off the character designs from the 1956 French Film, it seems like a relatively decent animated knockoff (that initially even leaves the ending of the book intact). But then once part 3 comes and see the ending... *in voice of Dingo’s Lion and the King* “MAI GAWD!!!”
This is the title of the first part: “QUASIMODO part 1 - Super Little Fanta Heroes - EN”
The insanity of that tacked on ending dwarfs Quasimodo growing wings in “The Secret of the Hunchback”, and I genuinely am not completely sure whether even “The Handsome of Notre Dame” or Dingo’s version is worse than Mondo’s version. At least I can say for sure that it is the craziest, all because of that third part. All we need now is for a Phelous to review it.
"OH, a delicious candle!"
I can't get over how incredibly baked Beauty looks throughout the movie. It's like she smoked so much that she has a permanent high which has given her those classic 420, higher than a kite, hazy, unfocused, vacant, stoner eyes 😂
This version may be more accurate, but of course that doesn't mean it's better. I like the changes Disney made, it streamlined the plot, added some conflict besides "will Beauty marry the beast after the umpteenth time of him asking her over dinner", and generally made the story far more enjoyable to watch.
I thought you were talking about the live action version
2D Reviews Tbh I thought he was talking about that too. You aren’t alone bud
How to get out of the friendzone:
1. Let the person who friendzoned you have a seven-day break of your face
2. Pretend to die
3. Have your magical housekeeper whisk that person back
4. Get them to cry magical tears on you
5. Turn out to be a magical prince
Ah, the movie with Old Man who's all wet and completely useless now, the gasping Beauty and the Beast who will die of loneliness...
Well, on account of the stepsisters, the Grimm Beauty and the Beast tale did include a group of sisters. They were all very vain, contrasting to their sister. They become jealous of the new princess-to-be at the end and try to get revenge, but the Enchantress shows back up and turns them into statues, as I remember it going. "If one can learn to love them as statues" sort of thing.
Her father was also, yes, a merchant, and his trade ship sank and he lost his fortune, I think. But then it turns up again, and he goes after it before accidentally stealing a three-flowered rose from the Beast's garden. Also, since "Belle" means Beauty, some translations do just call her Beauty.
But either way this thing is atrocious.
I really love these knock off reviews, its so weird when at some point a clip from the original is shown and it looks so good you can't believe it, only makes me appreciate those wonderful animations more
How I have missed your knockoff movie reviews
10:27 - This shall be my favorite Old Man Beauty joke in this review.
Phelous’s review of this film is what first introduced me this version of Beauty and the Beast.
Someone other than Phelous reviewing GoodTimes? HOW UNEXPECTED! _DOYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE..._
The comment section is making Old Man jokes?! Well, it would seem that I was expected! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
8:39 Phelous takes the mickey out of him in his review he even has a t-shirt of the old man. HAHA.
There is a French version on Netflix that follows this kind of story. I'm guessing that they were both based on grim stories. French version is much better.
I watched the French version a few weeks ago, it's absolutely gorgeous and had much better production/acting than I expected.
Scribbler Sally yeah your right. But I'm am absolutely with the costumes in movie
Please Review The Nut Job 2, Leap,The LEGO Ninjago Movie And My Little Pony The Movie
Unfortunately so, they should've just stuck to the story of the show.
Heeeeeee
I love your reviews! Your comedy is always on point. Looking forward to more of these in the future! :)
I love your vids so much, and im so happy you are back, you brighten my day.
It warms my heart seeing so many phelous fans in the coments :,)
Someone else is reviewing this knock-off film? HOW UNEXPECTED!
This one seems like a more direct adaptation of the original fairy tale, which is very short. The Disney version did add a lot, which made it a lot more interesting.
Finally I love these! So glad your channel is back
Goodtimes version has the best Beauty's father. Heeeeeee
Anyone else waiting for the _"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"_ or is it just me?
In the first version of beauty and the beast by Gabrielle-Suzanne... did have merchants ships, bankruptcies, fraud, invisible servants, and the stepsisters (plus, the beast's multiple rooms filled with finery, magic vision dreams, and the two fairies). The brothers Grimm version didn't have the merchants/bankruptcy, and fraud. It did have the two step sisters (didn't have the fairies), but they didn't do as much as they did in the original, where they try to sabotage Belle, jealous of all the finery they didn't have. In the grimm version, they were basically there to show how wonderful Belle was for only wanting a rose compared to the dresses and jewels they wanted.
Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Ariel from this studio were avalable in Slovenia on VHS when I was a kid, while the Disney VHSs weren't. so i grew up watching these... my childhood was bad...
CLARA WUT ARE YEEEEW DOING HERE
I, somehow, thought you already did a Beauty and the Beast KnockOff video for a second.
This was the best movie interview you've ever done! 😂😂😂
I WATCHED THIS AS A KID OMG you have brought back many a memory Mr. Lewtoons.
These reviews get better and better every time!
There are no brother Grimm version of Beauty and the Beast
I actually liked Goodtimes' Version of Sleeping Beauty more than the Disney Version as a kid....
"Beauty, have you been smoking again? I'm afraid I have to let the storm in to teach you a lesson."
Am I the only one who hates life action beauty and the beast and jungle book
No, but I'm not one of those people who hates either (I enjoyed Beauty and the Beast but I haven't seen the Jungle Book)
Lalalover 4ever Nope I kind of dislike both, there wasn’t any reason to make any live action remakes for those films.
This was horrible. I mean the knock off, not your video I loved that
Sweet video, I also really like your Lupin the III t-shirt 👌🏻
This review has water in it, it's completely useless now. I had to, good review of it though (but it's nowhere near the worst knock off there is, wait until you get to Dingo).
We miss you in Minnesota! I’m in my senior year, and I play Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast!
I've watched this review like 8 times and JUST noticed the "Kill the Beast" melody being played in the background
When are you going to review My Little Pony The Movie?
Stormshadow Productions already through the fact of it being amazingly animated and one of the very few 2D movies in cinema he should totally review it!!
Lewtoons and Phelous crossover, NOW!
Wow! I feel like it's been so long since we've heard from you! Can't wait for more.
These are my faverout, the best thing to come out of these terrible knock offs is your reviews!
I'm here to read all the Phelous posts
Hey it’s the old man!😂
11:15
She's wondering where all the cute little side characters are right now.
I love these older style videos! The ones with the white background, the beer chugging Chad, and the forgetful skeleton man. What's his name again? I only remember Chad and Gretel.
In all fairness , in the original story , the original original not the disney original, belle actually had two older sisters. I'm not sure If they were step sisters but I know sje didn't have a brother
I love this series
Oh, how I've missed these lmao that ending scene was ridiculous lol
Nice shirt :D
Btw I cringed so hard on this. I frickin love Beauty and the Beast story so much lol
I wish you would research the original FairyTales a bit more. It makes a lot of your criticism look stupid and you miss some other points to poke fun at the Knock-Off.
For example the Brother Grimm never ever wrote a version of Beauty and the Beast, so it's pretty stupid to say that this Movie is based on their Version.
And the Version of the french author you talked about, is actually closer to this Knock-Off then the Disney-Version. The original Tale is very good and one of the best FairyTales I know, and this Knock-Off completely miss-represents it.
Still, for example the evil Sisters are a part of the original Tale (and they aren't Stepsisters this time) and the part about Beauties family getting poor is completely in the original. Even the Friend-zone part of the story is in the original and while many think of Beauty and the Beast as a story of pure love, it can also interpreted that Beauty and Beast are just very close friends who married just because Beast would have died otherwise.
I wish you would take the time to read the originals. It often only takes ten minutes to half an hour and if you truly love the story it shouldn't be that hard to do. It would also at to the things you could say about these Knock-Offs.
Yeah, I was pretty sure it wasn't the Brothers Grimm who originally wrote this story. If we wanna be technical the real source of the story is the myth of Cupid/Eros and Psyche.
Phelous, is that you?
8:41 If he was an honest to God loyal Frenchmen, when he smelled Roast Beef he would have ran off to warn everyone that the Brits were invading France.
Not ganna lie, I grew up on and loved Good Times. I'm older now and pushing near 30, but I still love it. I enjoyed Disney's classic too, but there's something about the way the animation style for these classic rip-offs are done, that bring out childhood whimsy.
If I ever have children, I'll most likely be showing them this version and others like it from now extinct animation studios. It nicely incorporates life lessons and reality with fantasy. It's not too washed down with "happiness". It screams "life is hard. Don't give your love one away from money. Don't rely on looks for beauty." Etc. You know, good life lessons.
I really enjoy your videos. They bring a smile to my face because the commentary is spot on. Bravo.
"I. Am. A. Beast. Rawwwwr."
"I-I have no regrets."
_Shifty Eyes_
Oh, you _don't_ do you?
