I can’t believe this band wasn’t bigger than it was
Absolutely fantastic. Sounds as fresh now as it did at the time it was released. I have seen them in concert many times and they sound as good live as on CD. British music at it's finest.
God this reminds me of being young! Love love love this album!!!
Flashback!
It's been years since I've heard this, it popped up on my suggestions list.
And bam.
Suddenly it's 2002, it's summer in Worcestershire. Wimbledon, Big Brother and chill. I still know all the words.
Just what I needed to hear and think of on a cold November night 20 years later. Happiness is...... 😊
Such a fantastic song, I'd forgotten how good this band is. Seriously underrated
saw them live yesterday at Victorious Festival and rapidly remembered why i fell in love them all those years ago. First time i saw them they were the support act opening for James at the MEN.
Proof that guitar music doesn't always have to be loud to be good.
Turin Brakes are my cherished singer-songwriters nobody else over here in Holland knows about. Favorite biking songs (remember "painkiller")
One of my favorite memories is seeing them in Utrecht at the Tivoli 10+ years back. Great night!
They played an hour session at Cambridge Folk Festival on Saturday night, July 27, and the audience reaction when this came up ... well it was one those moments you just had to be there.
Two black lines streamin' out like a guidance line
Put one foot on the road now where the cyborgs are driving
With the WD40 in their veins
The screeching little brakes complains
With the briefcase empty and the holes in my shoes
I try to stay friendly for the sugary abuse
So tell my secretary now to hold on all my calls
I believe I can hear through these walls
Oh, please save me, save me from myself
I can't be the only one stuck on the shelf
You said you'd always fall for the underdog
Well, I've been dreamin' of jet streams and kickin' up dust
A thirty seven thousand fool wanderlust
And with skyline number 9 ticked off in my mind
Oh, can you hear me screamin' out now through the telephone lines?
Oh, please save me, save me from myself
I can't be the only one stuck on the shelf
You said you'd always fall for the underdog
Save me, save me, save me, save me
A great song. The blues solo around 3:06 is spine tinglingly beautiful. Love the drop bending. I think I'll listen to this again and again and again.
Used to finish playing this, then put it on again, then again. Once was never enough. LOVE this song.
Loved them for years but weirdly I never got to see them . That shameful error will be rectified in October, when I get to see them for the first time. Thank you beautiful wife for my birthday present!❤
Memories ❤
One of my Turin Brakes favourites.
Haven't heard this in years. Memories flooding in like old friends forgotten.
This song sums up Turin Brakes, "Underdogs"....greatest time of my life in my youth on hot summer days, working landscaping and listening to the Optemist and then work day over and after again listening with a cold beer when work day was over..happy days!.... underrated band IMO
A timeless classic.
A beautiful song. Memories and chills.
I never get tired of hearing this song. Great tune! :-)
This band does not only great songs but awesome videos!!
Excellent lyrics, excellent vocals, altogether a fucking cracking wee tune.
Great song for an afternoon running. Makes you enjoy the landscape even more
Brings back memories. Love this Track.
Saw them at Oobleck in Brum last sunday - fell in love with them all over again - this was the last track they played - I first heard this in a supermarket over an extremely poor sound system - it took some considerable hours of googling to eventually find it - glad I did - spent many a drunken moment alone watching this! Love TB Xx
Reminds me of my childhood ❤️ this is my favourite Turin Brakes song.
Best bit of acoustic lead guitar I've ever heard.
Such a great sound and so underrated... Still listening and loving
Under 200 thousand views for this masterpiece? Society sucks.
Comm9nly misconceived as something too well understood 👏 👌 👍 always felt fractious listen 🎶 in 2 this lad done 👍 👌 👏
People, 2022.......almost the end of the year. Still one of the greatest ac guitar songs of all time.......

Can't remember the last time I heard this incredible record. It's so good and special
i bought this cd after listening to it in a cd, record store in the 90s in Adelaide, still love it!!!!!
Unarguably the best acoustic guitar alum of many eras! Such a haunting album, which in my own conspiracy theory, makes it all make sense.
'you said you'd always fall for the underdog' 💖
Watch them live tonight at Sheffield, Leadmill absolutely fantastic band. Criminally underated -
Love this song! Reminds me of when my daughter was a baby in 2001. 😊
this brings back many childhood memories, my father always used to listen to this, he was friends with 1 of them before they hit the big time, its a shame he still doesnt listen to them as much...
Nice homage to the movie MY Own Private Idaho. Great song too.

Fantastic, just discovered these guys. Love this song
2021 and still loving it!!
I don't understand the lyrics but i absolutely love the music, the sounds, the voices, the key changes the guitar work and solo. I heard it once years ago and remembered it from the first hearing but suddenly decided to find in on YT and play it every day as well as checking out their other stuff. Some songs just stay with you a lifetime without any effort.
they always make the best videoclips.
Went to see them last week and a superb show.
As I’ve just discovered this band, this song is just like RHCP is playing a Cocteau Twins song. Marvelous.
wow i love this tune havent heard it in ages.....seen these guys live in Belfast. Pure quality
great song. like many others have already said, this is sooo under-rated it's not true.
2024 still listening to the good stuff.
Not listened to this in years and on a whim slammed this CD in the car last week. Great feel good tunes.
What a tune! Used to listen to them when I was young :)

I've just recently seen you in Cambridge .oh my god. Awesome live.
I bloody love this
The Optimist LP is a fantastic album. Keep hold of that CD.
I heard this on radio6music [Chris Hawkins early show on iPlayer] yesterday, 10.06.13: haven't heard them for over ten years when Tony brought the album into my office. Don't know why I failed to download it into my iTunes library - thought I had. Anyway good to know that they are still around and still making music.
Genious video production, Great tune!!
i cant find any word to describe my feelings, this is AWESOME
A Quiet Riot? Great compilation, and my first introduction to them as well.

I used to have a band. We were 2 and we sang this song amoung our own song. This one, and feeling oblivion
Fantastic song... A little trivia for you all.... =P
It was actually written and fully done, video and all, with River Phoenix in mind. ♥
And this music video, is 100% and fully based on River's movie, "My Own Private Idaho". =)
Love this song, love my River...♥ Fun facts for you all... =P
Brilliant track used to play it all the time in college
Awesome mucic.... LOVE IT! so underated
First time I've heard this brilliant
This should have so much more views!
Just spended hours trying to find this song/band. Amazing why difficult is was. They are not on the wikipedia list of indie bands. Anyway I heard Brooken Bells and thought of them. Only thing I could remmember was "save me from myself" and then Cyborg. :-) Great song.
This is my favorite song in the world.
My favourite band ever, ever , ever
brilliant tune and lyrics
I took Turin Brakes ,The ether song ,album along with me to demo at the 2012 audio show in Surrey this year -WOW- thats all I can say really, Its a great album to use as a sonic reference (imo) Happy Days !

I love the music video, it looks like they managed to show how dreams are.
their vids are always kinda weird!
that's their style!
i love it!!
It was written yesterday...awesome songs ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🎧
I do like this duo, they can join the greats like the Everleys and Simon and Garfunkel.
I could listen to the first 20 seconds of this song over and over again for hours
I just adore the guitar solo in this. Gale is a master, so under-rated.
One of my favourite solos
