It would have been nice to mention the Queen's Highway that runs between Discovery Bay and Bengal Bridge.. as well as other notable towns you passed through

This toll road is not properly maintained at all. When it comes upkeep and and cleanliness those two words does not exist in Jamaican vocabulary, you can see it all in every parish you go😲😲

Totally agree with your statement. 👍 l was there 3 yrs ago and I noticed how poorly maintained and how bad the roads are. The only good roads in Jamaica are the toll roads. Once you exit the toll highways, all other roads are pot hole filled. I doubt Jamaica has a Dept of road maintenance with any type of commercial bush cutting equipment. They have zero idea of maintaining anything.

I think that the toll roads are properly maintained. It is the local roads that are in terrible shape. It takes money to maintain roads, that money comes from taxes so, if people don't pay taxes, there'll be no money to maintain roads.

That's because Jamaica does not have a proper local government system. They run local government through their central government bureaucracy. Jamaica (a relatively large/mountainous island) has never learned how to use their counties fiscally/administratively to maintain their local community infrastructure....that's the issue in a nutshell...

As you drove along it would have been interesting to note the important towns you passed through...also noting The Queen's Highway which was Jamaica's first highway opened in 1953 runs from Discovery Bay to Bengal Bridge.
