Looks nice. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that they put the discs on top of each other instead of putting each disc in a separate tray like they did with the first blu-ray release. Still, if you want to get all 3 seasons in one box set it's a good deal.
@@hunterhilton4156 every blu ray box set I’ve bought is cheaply made and the disks are always always dislodged, scratched and some had dick rot for some reason.
Does it include deferent Special Features than of the Original BD Release? Being the 50th anniversary release and all? Because all ready own all of the TOS original BD release.
Sorry mate you kept saying 'DVD' even though its clearly not. Just pointing it out. buying the perfect collection isn't easy, even though in my option this Blu Ray all in one collection is it.
Does this set finally include the original version of Where No man Has Gone Before (ACT 1/ACT II etc) and the Original NON CGI effect versions of the episodes?
I don't have the box or discs handy and don't know about that particular episode, but you do get to choose between original and remastered versions of each episode.
@@GamebitsThere’s a world of difference in getting a BluRay edition or DVD edition. The quality difference in audio and sound is massive between the two formats. I wouldn’t downplay that fact when creating videos to inform customers.
I want to rebuy the series with the original effects intact you said the one in this video has both, where can I get this exact set because all the ones I see look so similar I am afraid of buying a set with only the remastered version.
Hi, I found this video which is 8 years old, because I have a problem with this box. In the main menu it is indicated that when a certain symbol appears on the screen, you can press a button on remote control to change the view between the classic version and the new version with digital special effects. I have seen all the discs but this symbol never appeared. Do you also have this problem? thanks
Gamebits, at 1:15 the text says the original unedited episodes are also included in this remastered pack. Does this actually have *both the remastered AND the original unedited versions* of the episodes in this set?* I can't seem to find those details on any review of the particular remastered box set.
@@Gamebits Since the first Blu-Ray release sets had both versions, I would assume your set does too. I have the first Blu-Ray sets and from your review it sounds to me like they are the same as I have, but just in a different packaging is all. When Star Trek TOS came out in Blu-Ray, I embraced it because I'm one of the few that like both unedited & remastered episodes. I look at the set as the best of both worlds. :)
Having seen them myself the enhancements stay true to the original effects. Far from shoody, It's not over the top CGI and it nicely complements the feel of the old series.
hey liked star trek review but wondered if you ever thought of doing a let's play of lego star wars the force awakens or the halo' s. love the channel and what do you think about the new xbox one slim and Scorpio coming holiday 2017
Not a huge LEGO or Halo fan. The new consoles are great for those who don't already have one, or for those who have a 4K TV - both of which are pretty niche ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm confused on what is the official order or proper order for the Star Trek Original Series episodes if anyone has a really good answer please let me know.
The Blu-rays contains *both* versions---the original effects and CGI effects. I vastly prefer the original 1960's effects and you do get that with the Blu-ray edition, so no reason to go with the DVD's.
UGH I can't take this fake news CNN nonsense. Listen, the blurays include BOTH original and "modern" special effects, both in HD. No reason whatsoever to buy crappy SD dvd's, the blurays are a massive improvement, while not perfect (not encoded in the best way -- VC-1 instead of AVC). Still, toss your dvds in the garbage and upgrade.
Ha! You're the second person to notice. Here's what I told Brian: "I looked for it forever in time for this video but couldn't find it. About five minutes after I was done shooting, it turned back up. :) It'll return in the next video!"
ST:TAS is coming to Blu-Ray on September 6, 2016 - the 50th anniversary of ST:TOS. This will be TAS's first Blu-Ray release. I'm not aware of any other Blu-Ray releases of this series.
Ha - you noticed! I looked for it forever in time for this video but couldn't find it. About five minutes after I was done shooting, it turned back up. :) It'll return in the next video!
It's also extremely time consuming. All the special effects have to be redone in high definition from scratch. They could simply upscale them but the difference going from HD to SD would be jarring. Personally I rather see Deep Space Nine remastered on Blu-ray first, though not holding my breath it'll happen anytime soon.
@@Apple2gs I would be happy if they just put it on blu ray just to cut down on the size of the box sets. Don't worry about redoing the special effects. Just keep it on SD and reduce a 20+ disc set to 4 or 5 discs. HUGE spacesaver
The price changes on the retailer, currency, tax rate, and demand. Any price I'd given when I uploaded this video five years ago would be inaccurate now.
Between 2016 and 2021 I've seen it range (in Canadian dollars) from around $45 to $100. Knock off about 20% to convert to US dollars. It's currently going for CDN$59 on Amazon so I just took the plunge and finally bought it tonight! Now I'll have TOS, TNG and all the films on Blu-ray, just missing TAS. Wish DS9 was on Blu-ray, but I guess I'll have to settle for DVD's at this point.
I’m a Star Trek virgin, figured I’d finally dip my toes in st.

Used copies of this set are being sold at high prices on Amazon. I bought mine 2 years ago. I’m gonna keep it as a long-term investment! LOL
I never watched the original Star Trek, I’m looking forward to seeing it once in my lifetime.
It's never too late!
Well, looks like that I am looking forward to buying the "Star Trek: TOS" on Blu-Ray package for sometime. I am sure that it will be interesting.

Random question, probably won’t get seen or answered, but how tall is the blu ray case, is it the same as regular blu ray cases?

Yes. See 1:11 in the video.
Ken, I know this is unrelated to Star Trek, but will you do a lets play of Undertale by Toby Fox? I feel this game is right up your alley.
Thanks! It probably is right up my alley, and I do have that game in my Steam library, but I don't have any Let's Plays planned right now. Stay tuned!

For me it’s production order and that’s how they used to run it in syndication. Then for some dumb reason they changed to “first aired” order.
Thank you for the picture showing the original vs update. Because of that I made my decision to buy the DVD 👍🏼
Enjoy! That picture is from these videos: th-cam.com/play/PL0C8YMQolMwj1kAggu2cNCVOgSBmNU4xj.html

Disappointing that the box is so flimsy (Apu)

Why isn't Voyager on blu ray?
It was expensive to upgrade TNG to HD, and the sales didn't offset the cost. They're unlikely to make that mistake again for DS9 or Voyager. :(
