I have a theory that Yamato has no mother and was created by Vega Punk as a prototype SSG weapon like the artificial devil fruit. 1- kaido is 59, Yamato is 28, 59-28=31, which was around the age kaido was captured/experimented on at Punk Hazard. It is also the time Yamato would've been born. 2- While possible we have never seen Kaido show any deep romantic/sentimental feelings like love. He has stated Oni/ogres don't get along with humans and shouldn't. We have seen no other oni, kaido has shown little concern and mostly violence to humans even the ones he's closest to like BigMom, whom he left without a word, owing a debt to. The only thing Kaido seems to focus on is fighting and becoming stronger military wise to take on the WG. 3- Vega Punk was apart of MADS with other scientist like Judge Vinsmoke, whose science expertise seems to be lineage factors or DNA, specifically extracting it, cloning it, and recombining/modifying new lifeforms with it. 4-Vega Punk is the head of the SSG, the science dept. tasked with creating a new weapon/s equal to the power of the ex-warlords. He has been shown experimenting mostly in one piece with copying/creating devil fruit powers, cyborgs/pacifistas, and trying to recreate old races especially the ancient giants. 5- Ancient Giants/giants are the main military focus by all groups in one piece. Big mom wants to create a bond with the Elbaf giants, Moria coveted Oars body and sought Oars jr., Ceasar Clown tried to make giants, giants were shown frozen/prisoners/guina pigs, Oars Jr. was last seen unconscious at marineford alive, possibly taken to have DNA examined and replicated to make an army. Kaido might not want the wg to know about Yamato so he kept her hidden and not known about, just like king because knowing that they were alive might prompt the wg to attack wano before kaidos army plans were ready. I think Yamato might be a prototype to the new SSG weapon minus the ancient giant DNA from Oars jr. I think Yamato might also have lunarian DNA spliced with her oni DNA, like the dragons to help her adapt to any enviroment along with her oni strength and durability, she also has white hair, which isnt a concrete sign, but it is interesting if she was and a clue by Oda. Yamato does have a mythical df which increases her physical abilities and gives her ice powers. However, if this guess is right her df could've combined with lunarian DNA to make an ice blue glowing godly scarf around her back/shoulders, instead of fire like king. Yamato has also withstood bolobreath attacks and shot her own ice like version to cancel kaidos out. This is my crazy theory and maybe wrong but I wanted to throw it out there just for fun, haha hope u enjoy.

The conversation between him and Yamato I wish got explained a bit more because it never occured to me that Kaido would even had a bias outside of strength to begin with. Logistically speaking im not sure and I dont wanna know how that would work for Kaido, because outside of Big Momu or he can change sizes another Oni/Giant is the only realistic option, but then why is Yamato "regular" size... well regular size by One Piece standards? That doesn't make any sense, though? They are meant to replace the Warlords, why in the world would they be linked to them in that way, like Moria's zombies and the original owners of their shadows? These things are meant to outlast them, for the long term. Besides, that doesn't really make sense in terms of the science we've seen in the series. Clones just require the lineage factor of an individual, as we saw with Judge and his army, and after that they can just be mass produced. Maybe the Seraphim will be insanely costly to produce (even the early Pacifista's were supposed to cost as much as a battleship for just one), so their numbers will be limited, but that's really the only hard nerf I could see Oda putting on them.

It’s true that he plans at least 3 chapters ahead like every mangaka. However that doesn’t change the fact that concerning Yamato he knew that what he was doing in 1057 wouldn’t sit right so in prevision he gave more context to her decision in 1059.
Now does it redeem Yamato as a character ? Certainly not.
I still consider Wano being the best and my favorite arc but this arc isn’t perfect and Yamato is the prime example on Oda’s missteps on Wano.

I have a theory that Yamato has no mother and was created by Vega Punk as a prototype SSG weapon like the artificial devil fruit.
1- kaido is 59, Yamato is 28, 59-28=31, which was around the age kaido was captured/experimented on at Punk Hazard. It is also the time Yamato would've been born.
2- While possible we have never seen Kaido show any deep romantic/sentimental feelings like love. He has stated Oni/ogres don't get along with humans and shouldn't. We have seen no other oni, kaido has shown little concern and mostly violence to humans even the ones he's closest to like BigMom, whom he left without a word, owing a debt to. The only thing Kaido seems to focus on is fighting and becoming stronger military wise to take on the WG.
3- Vega Punk was apart of MADS with other scientist like Judge Vinsmoke, whose science expertise seems to be lineage factors or DNA, specifically extracting it, cloning it, and recombining/modifying new lifeforms with it.
4-Vega Punk is the head of the SSG, the science dept. tasked with creating a new weapon/s equal to the power of the ex-warlords. He has been shown experimenting mostly in one piece with copying/creating devil fruit powers, cyborgs/pacifistas, and trying to recreate old races especially the ancient giants.
5- Ancient Giants/giants are the main military focus by all groups in one piece. Big mom wants to create a bond with the Elbaf giants, Moria coveted Oars body and sought Oars jr., Ceasar Clown tried to make giants, giants were shown frozen/prisoners/guina pigs, Oars Jr. was last seen unconscious at marineford alive, possibly taken to have DNA examined and replicated to make an army. This was just before WG canceled warlords saying SSG weapon was ready and no longer needed them.
Theory- while Kaido was 30s at unknown amount of time at Punk Hazard lab he had his lineage factor or DNA extracted and cloned by Vega Punk to help recreate old powerful races like oni/ancient giants. Oni seem to be diluted bloodline of ancient giants, which Vega Punk could be using to remake ancient giants for wg army.
After taking and experimenting with kaidos DNA Vega Punk created an artifical devil fruit that momo ate. He also used the DNA to clone a living being Yamato. Kaido when escaping with King, who also had DNA pulled for experiments to clone/modify new lifeforms made by Vega Punk. Example is the dragons made by Vega Punk they were said to have the ability to adapt to any enviroment and lived in a burning wasteland, breathed fire, and flew fast, all abilities of the lunarian race, which seem to have been used to make the dragons.
What if while kaido was escaping with king they were looking through the lab and other cells for other useful weapons/people to take with him to build an army to oppose the wg and they find Yamato. A cloned oni with the promise of being a great weapon/warrior for kaido. They would have left with her and taken her to wano. Kaido might not want the wg to know about Yamato so he kept her hidden and not known about, just like king because knowing that they were alive might prompt the wg to attack wano before kaidos army plans were ready.
I think Yamato might be a prototype to the new SSG weapon minus the ancient giant DNA from Oars jr. I think Yamato might also have lunarian DNA spliced with her oni DNA, like the dragons to help her adapt to any enviroment along with her oni strength and durability, she also has white hair, which isnt a concrete sign, but it is interesting if she was and a clue by Oda. Yamato does have a mythical df which increases her physical abilities and gives her ice powers. However, if this guess is right her df could've combined with lunarian DNA to make an ice blue glowing godly scarf around her back/shoulders, instead of fire like king. Yamato has also withstood bolobreath attacks and shot her own ice like version to cancel kaidos out.
This is my crazy theory and maybe wrong but I wanted to throw it out there just for fun, haha hope u enjoy.
Although I dont think thats what happened you bring up some good ideas and this would make sense to me especially about One Clap Kaidos bias towards humans. The conversation between him and Yamato I wish got explained a bit more because it never occured to me that Kaido would even had a bias outside of strength to begin with. Logistically speaking im not sure and I dont wanna know how that would work for Kaido, because outside of Big Momu or he can change sizes another Oni/Giant is the only realistic option, but then why is Yamato "regular" size... well regular size by One Piece standards? Then again this is the same series where an elephant and boar could give birth to a condor somehow so whose to say 😂?
As far as Kaido and his emotions go, remember the Shuron Hakke chapter and drunk Kaido is a thing so there are some natural conditions that could be met where Kaido might to Wororororo some walls. When he was first introduced I thought he was supposed to have some Ghengis Khan vibes so im actually surprised he only had one child in the story given how the pirate life can be. If Yamato is/was a clone shed have something else in common with Shogunoske because then they both would be creations of Dr. Vegapunk in some way.

That doesn't make any sense, though? They are meant to replace the Warlords, why in the world would they be linked to them in that way, like Moria's zombies and the original owners of their shadows? These things are meant to outlast them, for the long term.
Besides, that doesn't really make sense in terms of the science we've seen in the series. Clones just require the lineage factor of an individual, as we saw with Judge and his army, and after that they can just be mass produced.
Maybe the Seraphim will be insanely costly to produce (even the early Pacifista's were supposed to cost as much as a battleship for just one), so their numbers will be limited, but that's really the only hard nerf I could see Oda putting on them.
