    Everyone who has ever worked with Metahumans and ever tried to retarget animations to metahumans, would know how much of a pain the entire process is. And this feature, really is a blessing from God. Thanks for making the video. I will down 5.4 right now and will give it a go.

      I can't tell you how many hours of banging my head against the wall this new feature will keep me from. This is one of the most painful processes in UE. I'm so glad they finally made this feature.

    Thank you for showing how simple this is... for so many months I had issues trying to animate models from Synty Studios in UE5, and it just kept breaking or acting weird. I HATE working with animations. This? I got a Synty Studios character dancing on the first try. It just works. My headache is gone. This is game changing for me. I was almost in tears with how happy I was that this worked so easily lol
    The only setting I had to change was the anim tick option for it to work (setting to always tick pose and refresh bones).

    Once again, epic overstated the function of one of their new features. Yes, you can retarget very easily.However, if you're doing ik retargeting, you still have to do a lot of manual tweaks per animation set. Eg crouching, jumping, pistol, rifle, sword, etc. Annoying but not too bad

    I would not sleep on that "Use source path" option, which can be seen at 7:09... one of the pain in the axe I had with previous versions was the fact we were forced to select the original path manually. That new option there is already an underrated feature. What I hope now is that that option allows to retarget animations sets where the animations are organized in different folders per type {walk, run, jump, crouch and so on} and when importing them, as ready assets or as .fbx files, I was always forced to reorganize them myself, which was insane specially when the animation sets include hundreds of different animations. If that feature helps doing that it's truly a huge news for me, a massive improvement to my workflow.
    I saw another few features including the overwrite the source animations option you didn't mention in the video and that's another huge step in retargeting.
    I have only one complain about UE5.4... feet IK are still not set up to adapt to slopes and other irregular surfaces by default and that's a real nightmare I really hoped they finally fixed. I'd love to see a tutorial about how to set it up on our own, hoping it isn't something I still have to struggle with, because I really need that sorted out so I can fix the issue and forget about it once and for all.
    that been said... I just can't wait for those 500+ animations you mentioned in the previous videos about UE5.4 new features!

      1) So does it work like this? If I have paid anims > shorted by folders (Run, Attack) > will the Exported anims export to those specific folders and/or a new copy of those folders (with the new anims) - meaning if I select multiple anims to retarget at a time (a run and attack), will it put each one in the Run and Attack folder?
      2) "UE5.4... feet IK are still not set up"
      What do you mean? It's not working with this Anim retargeter (video subject)? Or do you mean in the Anim BP (different subject), the IK nodes are not setup?

    What i dont understand is why UE5 doesn't have an auto rigging system? the technology has been around for many many years.. if mixamo can just take a standard mesh and rig it based on a few dots placed.. then why cant UE5 do this?

    It would be perfect if it were that easy, everything works perfectly in the menus, but when you send it to the code it gives errors, I'm having errors in the arms for example.

    Nice description. I have a question. How would you do clean up on the retargeted animation? Would you make a sequence of it right in UE or would you export out the fbx of the retargeted animation to Maya and clean it there. Then reimport it back to UE?

    This is really awesome...The only question I have now is if this will cause any issues with root bone. Mixamo anims doesn't have root bone but UE Skeletons do... so... I'm wondering if that's gonna be an issue.

      And what about SKs that dont have IK hands/feet, but we go from Mixamo (FK) to UE5 (IK). Does this [easy mode] add in the IK bones at correct locations?
      If not, someone tell them to give us this option, otherwise it defeats the point of using [easy mode], I will still have to use Blender > Auto Rig Pro to get compliant SKs.

      @@kenalpha3 Exactly. We can see that this tool would be perfect for the SK Mannequins and Getting Market Place Animation unto the UE Skeletons, but everything outside of that is pretty much gonna be the same workflow.

      I ask because Im not using 5.3 yet.. my workflow is UE > Export every paid anim asset as FBX (too many files to repeat) >> Blender > Auto Rig Pro > import each anim (too many files) > process to apply to my skel > save a FBX (and it's causing my problems/slowdowns).
      So I was hoping UE5.4 could replace my workflow.
      (Or if setting up IK chains works, then I guess that's ok If I can merely Import my UE4 compliant SK character from Blender > to UE5.4 then apply all anims there?)

    If anyone has crash issues importing fbx skeletal meshes. Go import then choose fbx skeleton explicitly as a file import type. This reduces crashes for some reason. Choose fbx animations the same way.

    I dont know how to ask this question so ill explain a little: I am working on a scene where i have a band;
    I have one Metahuman with a guitar animation working.... Now when i add in a new metahuman and apply a Saxophone animation it somehow uses the same skeleton as the Guitar metahuman, they are seperate characters I'm not sure how to fix this or how to look up this problem.

    There are a million tutorials on retargeting an animation whether it is 300 steps or the simple 100 steps...However, I would love a tutorial on importing several animations to a character and then assigning either keyboard button triggers to each of the animations o reassigning Xbox controller buttons to separate buttons. Would pay for a tutorial, from scratch importing a metahuman into a level, importing Mixamo animations ( or others), assigning them to the character and then controlling them individually as explained above. Adding live face link for live face lip syncing would also be good.

    I imported a posed character FBX from Marvelous Designer (its actually a rigged gen9 dazstudio character) into UE5.4, then added some random keyframes in sequencer to generate an animation sequence and use it as a retargeting for my metahuman. The metahuman pose is totally messed up, any tip? i'm just trying to put a static pose to my goddamn metahuman T-T

    Is there any documentation which rig type will be natively supported by AutoRetargeting? Mixamo and Reallusion iClone are supported but I saw Blender Rifigy MetaRig is not supported. Why? Probably Blender Auto Rig Pro type is supported . Let me check it out. Then it will be clear that only game engine rig type is supported.

    We would have created epic so that the engine supports all Das 3d models. So that they can also be easily thrown in and the animations can be reassigned.

      So how do we add our own [asset] to get our SK supported? Is it only possible with the IK rig asset he talked about in the other vid?
      Because whatever easy mode is using, it is an Asset something, and thats what I want to copy/edit for my SK to get it to work in easy mode.

    you didn't show how to actually use those animations in the sequencer. When I click on body (+) to add animation, and press play in the sequencer it doesn't work.

      Should be the same process, I'm learning as well, but I'm pretty sure Paragon characters import the same, just retarget from the UE4 Skeleton since that's what they use

      @@SmartPoly no, it did not appear, I downloaded 5.3.2 to my 5.1.1 and then 5.2.1 appeared. Version 5.4 is not on this list...maybe there are restrictions by country or region

      I just tried this, and while it seemed like all of the animations and animation blueprint migrated successfully, they won't show up in my 5.3 project. The folders were made, and going into file explorer they are there, but according to in-engine the folder is empty and they are not found via search.

    3:08 the reason it brought in the animation is because you clicked 'import all' instead of 'import'

    Looks cool but its all not worked. Too many errors:
    1. not see my character in Retarget window - its invisible if i select my character
    2. i anyway export anim, but its export not worked animation

      Oh, i understand. If i enabled AutoGeneratedRetargeter my character missed. If i disable auto - i can see my character. Maybe UE set my character in wrong position - but i not see my character if i activate auto.
