Thats a quartz pocket in rhyolite, not diamond in kimberlite. Mislabeling minerals especially calling a non-precious piece of quartz a diamond is just bad geology or a really really poor attempt at tricking buyers into thinking its actually worth something. Church it up however you want its still just quartz

Herkimer diamond is not a diamond Payson diamond is not a diamond. Douglas diamond is not a diamond but they all have diamond in there name. I did not give it that name. Yes, you are right It is a type of quartz Crystal.

@@zen11minerals yes all those quartz minerals have been mislabeled as diamonds and that's so they can be sold for a higher price to people who believe that rocks have metaphysical or some other non-science property's. There's a massive issue in the rock and gem trade with people attempting to sell fakes/mislabeled items.

@BigfootProtectionAgency pure quartz that hasn't been exposed to weathering action will be a lot more stable but once its exposed to water in the presence of natural iron sands will cause the iron to rust and expand fracturing pretty much anything its in contact with very similar to how water freezing can break any type of rock/mineral. Also important to consider when the quartz was formed and the conditions where the crystals grew, ie amethyst (quartz with solvated Fe3+ ions) from thunderbay ontario formed deep underground and stayed there until glaciers tore overburden deep enough to expose the crystal deposit but in this videos case the crystals were formed very shallow in a rhyolite volcanic field allowing the crystals to cool off rapidly exposing their inner structures to stress which weakens the crystal. You can also see the drusy on the crystals which suggests that the mineral is more of a quartzite (smaller crystals that filled a vug) rather than a pure quartz (one crystal growing in a stable constant environment)

Ain’t really a diamond if you can break it with your fingers
