  • Here in this video i'm fishing with Scott from Dropshot Fishing NZ & Lance from Fish The Drift NZ, this was my first winter canal trip of the season so i was pretty excited. We started off tying up our rigs together then trying to choose what color egg to tie on. We got all our gear sorted then started fishing, First cast i hooked up to a fish but ended up pulling the hooks quickly. 2nd cast and i landed fish of the day, a lovely 8-9lb brown trout. Ill be uploading more canal videos over the next couple of months so don't forget to drop a like and hit that subscribe button! Tight lines - Dylan.
    I also have started making my own FishingForeverFilms clothing so you'll be able to see them on my Instagram & Facebook pages. If you'd like to buy one you can private message me through either accounts.

      Xsharknz thanks mate, yeah really gets the fish on the bite with the cold weather and cooler water temperatures.

    Man you've got some line on that spool, do you ever get trouble with wind knots?

    • @FishingForeverFilms
      @FishingForeverFilms  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gunsmith 2001 nope, rather a full spool than a shallow spool then get spooled haha...

      Trent it’s definitely one of my favourite places to fish, landed a 30lb been trout up by the water tower few years ago. It’s the one on my wall at home.

      Hey mate, who did the taxidermy work for ya?

    • @FishingForeverFilms
      @FishingForeverFilms  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      C james O’Roukes Taxidermy, wouldn’t recommend going there. Fish looks way worse than what I thought it was going to look like, next fish I’m getting done will be with Peter from Wildmount Taxidermy. His work is unreal, check him out on Instagram.

      Puff that’s for you to figure out bro, that’s how I found this spot.

    Well iam clear on the other side of the world from u and I landed a 15 pound rainbow on 4 pound test this spring in Colorado and i didnt even have my drag set that lose

    • @FishingForeverFilms
      @FishingForeverFilms  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wtf Duck find it hard to believe that you had a tighter drag than mine and you were using 4lb line.

    What sort of rod you using? Braid & leader?
    Weights used?

    • @FishingForeverFilms
      @FishingForeverFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      At the moment I’m using a Daiwa Emeraldas rod with a Daiwa CERTATE and 6lb Berkley X8 white braid

    • @davidraguse2106
      @davidraguse2106 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FishingForeverFilms What are the specs please ...length ,line weight recommend ,and cast weights please?

    • @FishingForeverFilms
      @FishingForeverFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidraguse2106 that all depends on what the water is doing, if it’s fast then use a heavier sinker to just tap along the bottom etc. Same goes with line, faster it is the heavier you’ll get away with

    • @davidraguse2106
      @davidraguse2106 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FishingForeverFilms Can the Emeraldas rod cast 2 to 14 grams on 10 lb braid...that's why I want to know specs...and cast distance rod length....I'm using 1/8 to 1/4 oz most of the time on a Diawa wild weasel 2 to 6 kg 2 to 14 grams 2.08 m rod
      looking for more sensitivity and length...not fishing canals but using much the same technique....how deep are the canals on average?

    • @FishingForeverFilms
      @FishingForeverFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidraguse2106 it’ll cast anything, it’s a 2-4kg rod but it’s long which is perfect for egg rolling. 10lb braid is way too heavy for that type of stuff, if I was you I’d be using 6lb or even 4lb as it doesn’t break till double the weight etc. Plus you’ll get more on too
