    I tried the aluminum pan hack in my OK Joe highland. Used two large pans for a large cook. 20 burgers at once. Worked great. Thanks for the idea. It made the cook chamber much easier to clean out the charcoal ashes than using the charcoal grate at the bottom of the chamber. Thanks for the tips. For a small cook, the fire box is sufficient and a little easier.

    First new to your channel, watched a few different times. Had my smoker few years now. Brinkman trailmaster limited.
    No longer made which is a bummer.
    On this one it's really to do burgers.
    One method I seen was to cold smoke your ground beef or preformed parties.
    The idea is the meat takes the smoke easier and then grill your burger

    • @ComparisonCooking

      Vortex is for a very specific type of cook. I think if you are doing something low key you are better off saving your money and just using a tinfoil pan 👍

    I agree that the firebox should be big enough to do burgers and dogs. My family's not that big, 2 parents, 2 kids, 2 grandparents. I don't see a need to use the cook chamber for the grilling.

      One hundred percent agree. I use about 10% of my main chamber cooking space.

  • @Dr.Unsteady
    @Dr.Unsteady 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Idk how your smoker works, but generally the top rack has the highest temps in the main chamber and probably would’ve worked slightly better. Probably no real difference but for a test like this might have been helpful for comparison as well

  • @stevemiller5626
    @stevemiller5626 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ill line my main cooker with foil and the next day just push all the ash through the drip into my ask can. I actually like how deep the chamber is because it's a little more forgiving when you got 20 burgers and 20 dogs going. Versus my weber kettle, sometimes i can't even flip it all fast enough ( if i can even fit it all ). The only time im in that pickle is with a huge summer party and i know everyone is going to do more partying than eating. 1 quick cook, get that smoke in the air for that nostalgic 4th of july feel.

    • @ComparisonCooking
      @ComparisonCooking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man, you just got me so pumped for my next smoke with that nostalgic 4th of July reference! I always struggled with my weber for the reason you just stated. Lining the whole chamber is a good idea! Thanks for watching Steve.

      @@ComparisonCooking haaa i hoped that translated well into text lol. Its like a more calm fire in that chamber, i guess because its not vented well enough underneath. You have time to think. 1/4 pound burgers, regular dogs, have some chicken n ribs smoked the day before and you can have a cooler zone to warm em up and set a sauce on them
