    So does the rocker always return to a neutral middle position so it can work with remote apps without getting confused about the current on/off state? Similarly, it appears that the mechanical slider will not necessarily be showing the value of the dimming if the dimming value was set via app or other remote. Would have thought that would be worth mentioning in the video. Otherwise, a well-done and informative video, thanks!

      I assumed this was why the old ones had the clunky design with a bunch of buttons.
      Though personally I don’t really care if the physical controls can be overridden / inaccurate, I really wish they had these a month ago when I decked out my house!!

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it will always return to the slider position from the rocker and voice assistants unless you tell it you want a different brightness then it will just override the slider position. The slider won't show the position if over ridden but the lightbar will. Thanks for question, I just hadn't thought about that.

    This looks like to solves my two main Caseta grips. The ability to preset the on brightness, so it doesn't go to full brightness.
    I have a lot of recessed lights, and full brightness is just too much most of the time. So currently I have to turn the lights and then turn down the brightness, or use a pico remote. And as some else mentioned, that's hard to do without looking at the switch.

    I refused to buy into the Caseta system since Lutron would not implement a previous state feature. Changed out all my switches with Meross and Kasa. Had 2 Meross switches die. Sometimes the Kasa switches get stupid and forget if they are on or off.
    I have (2) 3way lights in the house. 1st was a serious PITA to install smart dual dimmers. For the 2nd I put a dumb rotary dimmer at the line end and a smart 3way switch at the load end. Worked flawlessly except I could not dim remotely.
    When the Diva with it's mechanical dimmer remembering previous state was released I finally decided to take the plunge. Wiring is so much simpler with Pico in the 2nd spot.
    Now that amazon and googles routines can trigger off a lightswitch I want to change my kitchen dimmer (kasa) to a Diva so I will actually have a switch with the pico when I walk in to the room. But Diva $70 + Pico $20 + wall plate $10 = $100 per lighting circuit! That's a whole lot more than a $20 Kasa dimmer.
    Question for ya, my Diva and Pico, paired together, have vastly different on/off ramping/dimming speeds. Is this normal? The Pico has a much slower rate for both on and off. Could it be that the picos were programmed to match the speeds of the original Casetas? Is there a way to change the speeds?

    Would you know if the Lutron Caseta Diva dimmer switch is able to directly connect to the Lutron Caseta lamp plugs? I have a room that I want to install the switch and have the switch turn on 4 lamp plugs. If not could I program the Lutron Hub to turn on the lamps and would it be instant or a delay as I currently have with Zwave which is why I am looking to upgrade.

    I’ve got a couple of Caseta switches, Pico controllers, and the smart hub that were purchased at fire sale prices on eBay, and they all work great. But when I saw the new prices of these things, at first I thought it had to be a misprint. Any switch in the Caseta line is $45-50 on eBay, and I’m not disposed to pay that for a jumped-up light switch.

    So, If I understand correctly, the Diva Smart Dimmer will work as a three-way with a regular Claro paddle switch. Given that the Diva Smart Dimmer can be controlled via phone or voice, you don't really need another Diva Smart Dimmer as part of the three-way. The only thing is that the Claro paddle switch will turn the controlled lights on or off, it won't dim, and it isn't smart, but it doesn't have to be since you've already installed a Diva Smart Dimmer on as part of the three-way?

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The light will stay at the dim level you set with the app until you turn off the light and turn it back on again. Then it would go back to the slider position. Pushing on a second time goes to full brightness.

      Yes you can do it either through automations in the Lutron app (hub required) or you can just keep the slider on the Diva set at 20%. Then tap on once to go to 20% and a second time to go to 100%. The only thing you can't do is have the dimmer slider adjust based on time when you manually turn on the light.
