Thank you for this! I got the same kit as a gift from my daughters and after seeing odd mistakes in the instruction booklet I decided to watch this vid. Luckily I didn't get too far in the build and was able to correct a few issues. Now I will have to follow your series just to make sure I'm progressing correctly. It is very disappointing that an expensive kit like this has terrible instructions. Modelers beware! It has tremendous amounts of detail though.
This is a great introduction video. It shows all the charm and problems of the model. I've been waiting for the Black Hawk full riveted model for a long time. I used to have 1/72 of Hasegawa, but the details were unsatisfactory. I was waiting for the 1/48 model to come out from the Japanese manufacturer, but it was impossible. 1/35 of the academy was dissatisfied with the reproducibility. It is wonderful that Chinese manufacturers can work quickly and fill the holes of Japanese manufacturers. This is the full rivet Blackhawk I've been waiting for a long time. And Kitty Hawk is happy to issue three types of Black Hawk: Army specification Air force specification Navy specification. It seems to be technically difficult and difficult to complete, but I will try it. (I would like to collect all three types if possible)
Have to admit that it's been a while since I followed one of your builds, but no matter: You've become a LOT more confident in building AND presentation, really upped your modelling skills too. Great series of videos on a challenging kit... well modelled, sir !! Best from NZ.
A great start.....will enjoy the next parts of this series. I really like the commentary you attach to your vids....very informative and you provide both the positives and negatives of the build. Congratulations!
Loved your review, and build of this kit. It's £92.00 in Britain, not buying this until there is a better one on the market. Your opinion was honest and forthright, Thank you..! Stay safe.
If you wanted to make a Blackhawk, I think you should have went with the Academy kit. The cabin of this kit looks like the bird is down for maintenance, as all those open spaces would be covered by soundproofing. From what I saw of the interior, there is no soundproofing detail at all. I know it's your build and as such you can make it any way you wish, but I think it would be more realistic to vary grey shades between the ceiling and the floor and use different varnishes between same. Example would be flat clear coat on the floor and a semigloss where the soundproofing is. The same applies to the cockpit although shades of black would be the case.Sorry for rambling on and I look forward to seeing the rest of your build. I guess my OCD took hold, after all I worked around these and other helos for 34 years
Hi G, great stuff I've been looking forward to this kit for a long time. What a shame about the instructions. I'm currently building their SU-34 fullback and for another newer expensive kit the fit isn't very good at all. I shall defo think twice about buying one of their kits again. I hope you and your family are well? Stay safe my friend
Hey there Steve...where have you been? Just dropped off the radar? Anyway, its great to hear from you. After a few Kitty Hawk and other Chinese kits, I have realised that they are a mixed bag. Some are great, some are ok and some are well.... I have already bought a couple more of these Chinese made kits, but from now on, I am waiting for someone else to make the kit before spending so much money...lol. Hope all is well at your end....when is the next upload on the channel??
I bet the instruction sheet was done by the same guy that use to do all of the instructions from the Dragon Armor kits. Leaving parts out of the instruction sheets altogether was their specialty.
Someone told me that Kitty Hawk was started by one of the designers who worked on Dragon or GWH, I forget. But while he is a great engineer and designer, as is obvious from the detailing on the kit, he is pretty bad at instructions. So, apparently he/she outsources the instructions. Lol. But this is all modeller's gossip. But sure looks like it :)
I had the Black hawk version and got up to the point to join the cockpit and cargo to the two fuesalge half's. No matter what I did I could not get them match up. Even after cutting sanding trimming it would not fit what so ever. Ended annoying me so bad it went back in the box on the self. Really was disappointed with this kit. As even the directions was frustrating. Glad to see a finished one that looks great. Good work
Thanks Travis. I know the feeling. Sometimes, particular kits just refuse to go together. Given the size of this kit, I was really apprehensive about lining it up and getting it to glue together properly. That is why I cut and sanded all the contact points on the pieces, to try and get as snug a fit as I possibly could. It seems to have worked on this occasion....but I too have many kits on the shelf, written off because of one reason or another. I guess its part of the hobby :)
Looks like a fantastic kit I have yet to build a helicopter and I do want to get involved in helicopter kit but not sure I can stomach the price tag that come with this one
Yeah this one was pretty expensive. Even I hardly ever buy expensive kits, but I just wanted to know what the deal was with this kit. Everyone was talking about it. I believe Academy has a recent Cobra or Viper out, I am told its a very good kit and reasonably priced too.
Hey Harth...I think you mean M Workshop. No, this kit was bought from Miniature Hobby at Tai Seng. There is a wide range of kits there and really good discounts. Hope that helps :)
Oh nice, finally someone is building this kit. I got the Live-resin crew for this one, should be fun painting all those figures.

I have a quick question where did you get the kit from I looked everywhere but it’s not there
dang gonna have to keep this one in mind to reference back to as i'm building my black hawk! I put it away as the instructions were pissing me off!

Hopi.g I can use some of your technics on my pavehawk. If it isn't unsalvageable from being second hand
Good luck David, I am sure it will turn out great :)
The crazy model is just gorgeous and very expensive, probably?
Yeah...pretty expensive. But I got it on sale. Maybe you can keep an eye out now, as Christmas sales would be on.
Приветствую! ОТЛИЧНОЕ начало! Жду продолжения...
Спасибо, мой друг. Я сейчас редактирую вторую часть, должен быть до выходных :)
