    Mesmerizing, meditative and inspirational. The quietness with only the sound of scratchy paper is very peaceful. I can't wait to try it.

    This is one of the coolest techniques I've ever seen -- totally therapeutic to watch you (as I would imagine it is to do it as well) -- you have such a light touch -- and thank you again for the silence . . .

    Is it posible to use acrylic paint? I’m working digita with photo and mixing pictures, both from nature and my clumsy scrabbled, I’m also colourblind, but realy want to try this method, but I have no experience with paint, oil or acrylic. Thanks and take care 😎😊

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes this will also work with acrylic paint, but because of the faster drying times it might help to use a retarder which will slow this down. Hope it works and thanks for watching.

  • @johnjack5417
    @johnjack5417 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hello Dan, I tried the same multi-window method but the oil paint is completely deposited on the first pass. I don't have enough to file a second or third time.... How do you do it? Special oil very greasy that dries slowly? Other? Thank you. Thank you.

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just use as much paint as you need for each pass of colour, spread paint thin on the transfer sheet then when the paint is used simply apply more paint. Hope this helps.

    • @johnjack5417
      @johnjack5417 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanTirels yes thanks Dan i'll try again with differents kind of transfer sheets and then i will post the first monoprint i'll be proud of. (I have to say... that my (chinese) oil paint is not real quality...

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't filmed a demo of this but the easiest way is to take a square piece of card and draw around it, repeat as many time as needed.

    Hi Dan, thank you so much for sharing your mono printing processes! Your works are incredible, and love your videos.
    Question for you: I am curious what the paper/surface is that you spread out the ink on and then use for drawing on? It looks almost like a velum or wax paper....but then not. Sorry if you have that info posted somewhere I've watched a few of your videos and haven't found it though.
    EDIT: Is it a plastic bag?? I was just reading your comments on this video for process and see you said the transfer sheet is a recycled plastic bag? So cool!!

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's correct, try experimenting with different types of plastic. Good to know you enjoyed the demo. Hope you give this a try.

  • @paulinefaulknerartist2738

    Hi Dan I love your techniques! Have tried some of them for myself and I love it. I also use oils but am a little concerned about the oil paint on paper, will it eventually damage it? I have got some lovely prints and would like them to remain beautiful for many years. Thanks.

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a good question and it is an important consideration when using oil paints on paper. I always recommend using good quality paints (which have less oil in them) and work on a heavyweight paper or card that is at least 200gsm You can use a mixed media paper or try one that is made especially for using with oil paints. I have work that is at least 10 years old and there is very little signs of age, except the oil can cause yellowing of the paper and the colours can become duller. You can spray paper with a primer which would eliminate this. The fast drying oil paints are excellent for use on paper and I have just begun to work with these. Hope this helps.

    • @paulinefaulknerartist2738
      @paulinefaulknerartist2738 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanTirels thank you so much for your reply. By quick drying, do you mean alkyds or water mixable oils? Aha! Just seen your latest video and I saw an alkyd being used so the question is now answered!

    • @DanTirels
