I bought one of these also from Amazon and love it. I followed the instructions and used Orval's white corn and it worked on my micro wave with the popcorn setting. It worked better and beyond expected. It's great and I recommend it.
I, too, use this Salbree Popcorn Popper and love it. For the record, you can definitely add oil or butter for flavoring before popping. My recipe is is 3 Tbs of good popping corn (I use Pop Secret) and 2 Tbs. of oil, butter or a combination of both, and 1/2 tsp of popcorn salt. The salt will dissolve almost instantly in the oil for uniform coating of the popcorn.
Thank you for this. My bf found one of these for $1 at a thrift store and I can’t find the instructions that came with it 😂 I can finally have popcorn and use my fun seasonings! 🍿
I ordered one from Amazon, and it got here today. So I made some popcorn and it came out awesome. I too would highly recommend this product. You are not supposed to put butter or seasoning in the bowl while cooking, it could start a fire or damage your popcorn maker.
We mix well together the popcorn kernels, quite a large amount of Wabash theater coconut oil (the yellow stuff), with some Gold Medal Flavacol "better buttery" salt (if too solid to mix up, melt for 30 seconds or so in microwave) and put it in our microwave (inverter high powered), until there is a good full 2 seconds between pops (but no longer. About 3:15 for us) and it turns out perfect. Just like theatre popcorn! Not even close to catching fire or burning! Our popcorn popper bowls (We got 3! Lol) are the housewares brand, from Amazon & are pretty much the same as the video. (Actually, we bought everything on Amazon. Lol)
I just got this new at good well for 3 bucks. I was wondering how it worked with the cover and seems awesome for 3 bucks new in the box was never even taken out of the package. Great video
I love mine too, works great! I do add 1 tablespoon coconut oil to bowl, then 1/4 cup (Orville R) popcorn, salt, and sometimes a generous sprinkling of garlic powder, before microwaving. I get more kernals that don't pop than he does, but probably need to experiment with the microwave temp. I never liked microwave popcorn until I tried this.
It's weird that everyone is saying they put oil or butter in this while popping, while it clearly states in the product information; Don't use any oil or butter or flavoring in this unit.
I love this way to pop corn. I do like Reddinbacker)spell check)I put popped corn in a big giant stainless mixing bowl spray it with olive oil to be somewhat healthy(is pretty close to butter) or drizzle butter and what ever seasoning in it .Cover with same size bowl and shake to distribute. Doing this after popping doesn't make it soft. I always change up experimenting with garlic salt or grated cheese.Enjoy! Oh yeah another thing that works unrelated to this but take the two stainless mixing bowl and but your fresh garlic cloves in it. Shake the crap out of it like you're trying to beat them to death. And most of the shell comes off the garlic.
I just bought a. colonel popper microwave popcorn bowl like this one.. can put melted butter in before popping website says. I haven't used mine yet.. I noticed that your lid is hard looking, this one is soft like the bowl
I have one under "Popco" brand. I've used it now about 5 times and on one occasion the popcorn burned slightly; I did everything exactly the same. I just used it again and it burned the popcorn extremely bad...whole house is filled with smoke...don't know why...followed the instructions to a T, and the same way I did it when the popcorn did not burn. Stumped.
good review, finally someone who shows the ratio of popped and unpopped kernels I also have one question, can you tell me how powerfull is your microwave?
How can you prevent only the middle popped corn from burning. I followed instructions and let it continue popping until it was 5 seconds between pops. 🤷
I have one of these, it takes about 6 minutes for my kernels to pop in this, either my microwave it defective or this popper is, would it be because I’m in Australia and the popper is from America?
It's probably your microwave. Try at a friend's house or another microwave. If it's a really old microwave it could be it too. Microwaves lose power (effectiveness) as they age.
@@furyofbongos I could be that it's a bit under-powered. Don't use the popcorn setting just listen to it yourself. after that you'll know just about how much it needs to be going. But again 900W could be the reason or the microwave is not very efficient at heating. I still love mine, and use it often.
I was wondering if the bottom of the popcorn bowl discolored like mine has. It looks like a hot spot where the popcorn sits I wonder if this is bad for the popcorn SALBREE bowl or my health. It looked like the bottom of your popcorn bowl popper was discolored as well. I hope to hear back from you thank you. And PS Great video well done.
@@ureviews thx, I decided to go with the glass carafe style one instead because I read some reviews that complained about a chemical smell that doesn't go away.
@@ureviews I am beyond late on my answer. Years late, but i still have this device and still love that I can make it as healthy or unhealthy as I like. The only thing that’s annoying is when I put too many pieces in it and it overflows in the microwave 🙃😂
From the product page: "Lose Weight - Live Healthy; if you don't want to add oil to your microwave popcorn. With this popcorn popper you have the choice to add oil before or after popping, but it’s never required"
just got one, and threw it away after one use. seemed to pop the corn alright, but hand washing it (i had my house built without a dishwasher) is ridiculous because the thing is like soft rubber.

I use a lunch bag with 1/4 cup kernels, fold over top of bag, put in microwave for two minutes. Perfect popcorn every time!
I'm going to try this
Saves money

I find myself burning mine often and left with unpopped kernels, what time do you set it to?
It varies between microwaves... I do 4 minutes and no burning.
Good note on salt dissolving!

Love this thing. I add two tablespoons popping oil and a teaspoon of Flavocal before popping - makes fantastic popcorn!
+Pierre Cardone Yeah I wasn't kidding that this suprisignly works well... Thanks for your comment :-)
I thought most suggested only to add oil "after" to reduce burning. Advice?
If you want to use butter, don't use standard butter, you need to use Clarified Butter (Ghee) as that won't make your popcorn soggy.
charvelgtrs i used mine with regular butter and it was just fine!
i honestly love when it gets a little soggy from butter 😅 sooo good 🤤
I started pouring a little bit of olive oil before popping. Works really well.
I just found one of these in the house I'm renting for a month so happy to try it out 👍 thanks

That's to cover their own ass in case a fire happens.

The lid on mine is soft too, but the outer ring makes its structurally stiff.
