Very clear as usual ! Drawbacks of tables : The input cell(s) and the formula(s) MUST be located on the same Sheet (the table’s one) ; can eventually be very slow ; and if you manage to take control before computation is completed, then you get a partial update of the table ; to change the table range is tedious / impossible : one must first delete the old range then select a new one. Started watching your videos couple of days back and i must say this is one of the best YT Channel i have seen so far for excel dashboards n other important tricks n tips.. Thanks a lot 👌
Unfortunately, TH-cam allows only one like, or else I might have automated likes for few days per video, really really heartful thanks, It might take days to learn few features which you just explained in few minutes, it added a lot of value and had cut shorted my time in banging head. Thanks Mynda.
Thank you so... much, mam to explain this concept with examples which make it crystal clear to me. 👍 And not only one, u took two examples for explaining DATA TABLE which I found really a gud thing in this video. 👍 Tysm again mam. ❤️
Again, for understanding this concept I chose ur chnl. I've not found this kind of explaining style in which I make myself clear promptly, in any another chnl.
Thank You for this, I have two comments. One is that the formula outputs, the formula inputs, and the data table need to be on the same sheet. Else the data table does not function. That is you have to reference cells on the same sheet. My second issue is that my data tables do not seem to be working correctly and I cannot find the fault, any ideas on how to troubleshoot?
Hi Mynda. Great video to kick off 2021! Data Tables are awesome for what ifs. Love what you did there with the break even analysis and conditional formatting. Thanks for sharing :)) Thumbs up and Happy New Year!!
Question: why my fill Series won't work on a mac version of office 365 subscription (latest version?). Do you need to set it up as a table initially? I tried many times, nothing worked.
Thanks Mynda, I really liked the conditional formatting affect. Question, why advantage do data tables hold over normal formulas (with relative references for rows and columns?)
i need help on making a chart on excel. never used excell before so im new at this. Lets say theres 4 soccer games, and the options are Over/Under in goals for each game, my formula :would be 2(options: Over or Under) ^ 4(games), I'll get 16 different probabilities. All games going over is one probability out of 16, first game over, other three games under, thats another probability out of 16. How can I lay the all out, lets say if i want to do 10 games instead(2^10=1024 different probabilities)
Hey, I try to this with but I dont want to use hard numbers in colum and rows...But the output of the table has than wrong numbers.. is this just not possible or whats the reason for it? Also when I changed the number in the top left corner in the system the data table doesnt update by itself and even if I press F9 or try to refresh the data it doent work (also I checked in Options that Refreshment for data table is on).. do you know the mistake? Thanks in advance!!
I tested it with a formula in the savings amount values and it worked, so not sure what you're trying to do. Not sure why it wouldn't be auto updating either. You can post your question and Excel file on our forum where we can help you further: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/excel-forum
We've known Data Tables (DT) for years now, but I've not used them for a long time. And now I wonder: with the advent of Dynamic Arrays (DA), I would be inclined to make these tables that way (applying the concepts of (pairwise) Lifting and Broadcasting - I myself use different names). My question is this: how do both 'techniques' compare in your opinion? I choose DA instead of DT... ;-) Any thoughts and considerations?
I agree, this same analysis can be done with formulas, even without DAs. Out of habit I'd probably use a formula, but not everyone is confident with formulas like you and I, so Data Tables are a nice easy alternative.
Thanks! Data Tables never seemed intuitive to me and I always defaulted to just using formulas. Although they are handy when doing Monte-Carlo simulations.
Very clear as usual !

Beginning at the 3:28 mark, how do you have the vertical text show up in column B with the values to the right? Thanks
It's in a shape 😉 but you could use merge & center and then rotate the text up.
Great! I'm so glad that you made this video now. I had a chance instantly use it on my business scenarios! Thank you.

Hi, great little video. I was wondering, on the pizzas calculation, how did you do the vertical label "Pizzas per Month"? Text box?
From memory it's just text in merged cells rotated. If you download the file you can see how it was created.
Thanks Mynda, I really liked the conditional formatting affect. Question, why advantage do data tables hold over normal formulas (with relative references for rows and columns?)
Thanks, Farooq! No real advantage using data tables other than they’re maybe quicker and easier for some people.
Now I understand the meaning of Data Table in What-if analysis. It was there for so long time and I didn't know what does it mean? Thanks
Great to hear 😊
