I went here last year. There were no kid's when I went .in fact my wife and I were the only ones under 80 yrs! I was certainly the only foreigner. I enjoyed it immensely. But apart from bathing and eating there really wasn't much to do

絶景であり秘境でもあるけど、宿に着いてみれば別世界。船で運ばれてる間はどこに連れてかれるんだ、と心細くもなるけど、これは素晴らしい演出ですね。
それにしても何を好き好んでこんな場所に、というかよくこんな場所見つけたな、という思いもしばし。これダム湖なんでしょうけど、工事中にこれは素晴らしい観光地になるぞ、と目をつけた人がいたんでしょうなあ。
【追記】調べてみたら、元々近代以前から温泉が湧いてた集落があったのをダムにされる際に湯元を引き上げて温泉旅館として再建したということですね。集落にとっては災い転じて福となす、これは素晴らしい隠れ宿です。もっとも隠れ宿としては山形県の銀山温泉同様有名になり過ぎてるかもしれませんが．．．まあ地元にとってはその方がよろしいかと。
