I like having a bunch of Big Twist yarns on hand too. It’s perfect for making amigurumi. My Michael’s order was cancelled too, just like yours. I’ve been avoiding ordering from them ever since. I don’t think customer retention is their goal. Love the gingerbread man bag!
JoAnn’s gets me with the bags. To me it’s an extra treat when shopping. Big Twist is an inexpensive value yarn, no bells and whistles, it just works. We’ve talked about a few more shelves for me. I’d like have at few cubes of just the Big twist yarn.
I use bulky yarn for my looms as well as thinner weights. Bulky weight yarn does tend to be more expensive as well as there's less of it. My favorite yarn bulky yarn is Charisma from Michael's.
Hi Shannon.....I just knit clue # 23.....I must say I like it and finally red! I didn't do line # 7 as yet as my Atlantic time zone won't drop till 7:00 am.tomorrow. Ill have to make a decision at that time as to color of ribbing before I head out to my daughter's for Xnas Eve.Stay tuned.......🙂
That bag is adorable. I can't find any of the winter yarn or the cute xmas bags at the Joann's I have been to. Bummers. That scarf is a cute pattern. I did find some of the sparkle big twist though and some cute lion brand yarn for a baby blanket.
JoAnn is interesting in their limited run yarns. They had some they considered Halloween colors that was in select few stores and not a lot online. I think the Winter yarns are the same. Only the largest of stores will have a limited stock and if you are browsing online you might get some sight unseen. That’s sad on the bags too. I always look for cute ones and enjoy grabbing a new bag when I go there.
Wow! I feel like I just took a yarn class and I loved it!!! Thank you! Love all the colors you picked up. Loving the stocking!!! So excited to see them finished. P.S. I sent you an email today :)
I never thought about it, but I am also confused about bulky yarn. I have very little of it in my stash, come to think of it. The ones I do have I bought for a specific pattern. I love the red Winter yarn with the marl pattern in it. I do not use glittery yarn very much. It tends to scratch me. I can handle pure wool scratchiness, but not that stellilna stuff. Go figure, LOL.
By the way, love your channel! I found it a few days ago. I am now inspired to make the Arne and Carlos stocking. I also want to learn how to make Christmas balls.
It sounds odd that a yarn would be confusing but it is. I never have a clue on how many balls of bulky I need for a project. The black sparkle $8.99 for 65 yards. Is that an expected price range. What do you do with 65 yards? It throws me every time. The scarf is stunning, it will be well loved so I guess it’s worth it.
Bulky yarn is confusing to me also. I like the sparkly black yarn. They don’t have any in my store. I’m leery of ordering online because rumor is Joann is going bankrupt. I don’t want to not get my order but still have to pay for it. Merry Christmas!
The sparkle black is really nice to work with. Bulky is fast, I’m still not trading my thinner yarns though. I’ve heard the rumors regarding JoAnn going bankrupt too. I don’t know if there is and validity in that though. I’ve also heard both good and bad shipping experiences with JoAnn so trust your own instincts on that one. I was happy with the sale on the black yarn. Getting 5 cakes wasn’t outlandish and the recipient will be so happy with the scarf.
Hi Shannon - love your bag - so cute. Love the black sparkle too - what pattern did you use - or did you do your own thing - if you did how about a tutorrial - I know not your norm - but it would be cool - have a great weekend leading to Christmas = God bless you and yours
Yes, the newer labels have a manufactured date in them. Now we can feel guilty in 10+ years when this is still sitting in our stash. We KNOW when we got it 🤣
I agree the $3.62 was good. I was referring to full price $8.99 for 65 yards. I’m not as familiar with the yardage and how far that goes in bulky yarn like I am the thinner ones. The scarf was 3.5 balls and I’ve not done more than think of a hat. With all the sales and a fast handmade gift I was happy with it. Of course as Crystal always says “yarn is worth what you’ll pay for it” and in that logic everything I got was worth it. 🥰
G'morning Shannon, yes the gingerbread man bag is too cute, i love it🤗 Very nice shopping haul
Thank you so much 🤗
That’s stunning Shannon!!
Thank you - fun finds.

I’ve used Charisma a couple times. I’m not against the bigger yarns they just require more thought on my part as I’ve not used them much.

Good morning! The bag is so cute!!
I’m working to catch up on my stocking - just still a few days behind 🤷🏻♀️😂
You can do it. Just a few more stitches per day and it will be complete in no time.
You do beautiful work!
Thank you 🥰

I’m so happy you enjoyed this video. I love finding things and sharing them.

The Christmas balls are fun too. I’ve made a few of those in the past too.

I'm with you on bulky. I never know what to do and my tiny hands hurt when I try to work with it.
I’m happy with the results of these two scarfs. I am not a convert though. Using big needles is hard on the hands.
Could you tell us what pattern you are using for the scarf? I think you might have told once before when you made the other one. Love it!
I just added the scarf pattern information to the description box.

I added the pattern inspiration and my divinations in the description box. Hopefully that will help.

👋🏽🤗🥰
So much fun getting new yarns
Is there a date on it?
Yes, the newer labels have a manufactured date in them. Now we can feel guilty in 10+ years when this is still sitting in our stash. We KNOW when we got it 🤣
You do understand bulky I think you don't want to understand. With being at Joanns $3.62 for that yarn is good
