    Hey everyone! I wanted to share this short video of the rare and mesmerizing rainfall at Uluru/Ayers Rock, which I recently captured while filming one of my upcoming documentaries. This video is without any music or voiceover, so you can fully appreciate the natural beauty of this incredible event. I recommend wearing headphones to fully appreciate the soundscape. EXCITING NEWS: I currently have 3 new documentary projects in development, and I can't wait to share more with you soon! Until then enjoy this unique glimpse of nature at its best.

      Of special interest to myself and my wife, as we have walked around Uluru on two separate occasions, and unsurprisingly it didn't rain! We often wondered what the largely empty pools would look like, and some of the locations on here were quite familiar. We will likely never get the oportunity to go again so this footage was most enjoyable! Thanks!

    First of all, thanks for this. It takes me back 38 years when I was a young man visiting Aus. I hitchhiked from Adelaide to the “center” to experience Uluru. Back then you could go up a steep trail and explore the top, take in the views, meditate…. After, I hiked all the way around. I wanted to experience the whole thing. It’s just too big. All you have is glimpses. I feel fortunate to have been there. It is truly one of the 7 natural wonders of the world…..not to mention the Olgas just 12 klicks away and equally impressive. I hiked through the night from one to the other by starlight. What a memory.

      Its an absolutely awe-inspiring natural wonder wet or dry. Nothing compares to standing at the foot of it. I'm not a religious person but being there for me it was a spiritual experience, difficult to explain but there you are. Thanks for watching, cheers Phil

    • @oldtimer2192
      @oldtimer2192 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Exactly just what I was thinking!
      The DEEP time involved here for water to carve out channels and even valleys is just mind blowing, bearing in mind it is usually pretty dry in central Australia!
      In another 225,000,000 years or another full rotation of the Milky Way galaxy this rock will be nothing more than a small pile of boulders!
      Food for thought.

    Phil,
    Many years ago my wife & I walked all around Uluru in the pouring rain.We had splashed out on a new fangled video recorder and my wife filmed the amazing cascading waterfalls and captured the enhanced colours revealed by the wet rock. I was giddy & awestruck by the sight & sounds in that unique special place.My wife put the camera back in the bag saying “ You can stop messing about now I’ve switched it off “.........which was the start of a 20 minute film of the inside of the camera bag. The only record of a rare & special visit! She was a technology teacher and easily confused.
    So Thank you so much Phil,for reviving our long lost memories with so much more professionalism & skill. I will download your beautiful vid (with your permission )and surprise my wife with it. She will blush but be delighted.

      Video recorders caught a lot of people out. My dad bought one for a holiday in Italy and didn't seem to grasp the basics like if the viewfinder is pointing down so you can see from above, don't hold it level or you are just filming the ceiling. How he didn't spot it I don't know. Also zoom back out before doing a massive pan. He asked me to edit his tapes to get one tape with the good bits. I didn't have the heart to tell him none of them😊. It was nausea inducing just watching them.

    This is beautiful. I was fortunate enough to experience this in 1978. It rained harder than on the occasion you've filmed here as each pothole down the face of the rock would fill so rapidly that the water sprayed up into the air like some kind of explosion. It was an unforgettable moment. It was midsummer, so only my two travelling companions and a ranger witnessed it. Love the birds and birdsong you've captured here. Can't wait to see your next work.

    This suddenly popped up today - what a magnificent video. It has led me to your website, and I have just spent a wonderful half hour in the Blue Mountains. I lived in Sydney for a few years as a child and spent many happy hours exploring the bush thanks to Dad's enthusiasm for camping. 60 odd years ago now but never forgotten. I only have to hear one call from a magpie or a kookaburra, and I can smell the eucalyptus and wattle. I'd love to go back but sadly too old and decrepit! I can at least look forward to some virtual trips through your videos. Thank you.

    😊Thanks! Hey Phil, Always great to see any form of video uploaded by you, long or short. You really do have a knack with a camera. I always find myself gazing transfixed and let's face it, when you start staring at Uluru, it's impossible not to get caught by the multitude of colours and hues, which change even more rapidly during the rains. Then there's the contrasting surfaces blending together in a patchwork quilt kind of craftsmanship. Simply majestic. I'm looking forward to your upcoming docos, which no doubt will be hypnotising displays of natures art caught the way you do so well.

    • @IntotheWildFilms
      @IntotheWildFilms  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Grant, firstly thank you so much for your generous Super Thanks, you are very kind mate and I really appreciate that. For me there is something quite magical about Uluru, I'm not a religious person at all but when you stand below its massiveness there is something quite spiritual about it, I cant explain it, it just has to be experienced. When you travel hours across vast flat plains then arrive at this behemoth rising almost vertically to 350m from the sand is just mind blowing. Well it is for me anyway. Upcoming docos are underway, filming is probably 80% there for all 3, i head off on Sunday for another few weeks to try and wrap up what i need. We will see how things go, nature doesnt always follow the script.... Take care my friend, thank you again, stay safe. Cheers Phil
