Look at it the other way Tony,, it was a brilliant year to have survived cancer when so many others have not,, keep smiling young man and look forward, not back.
The ‘blues’ after your diagnosis and subsequent surgery is very normal. Mix that with the winter season and well this is what you get. You will brighten up along with the spring, hang in there and keep busy. I’m not diminishing depression, I’m just saying your down feelings are normal and I’m sure you will bounce back. Anybody with thoughts of harming themselves should always seek help.
Wishing you all the best for 2024. Your bravery sharing your diagnosis story was incredible and moving and inspirational. You have an amazing family around you and your followers and friends were there for you this year too. I for one am looking forward to seeing how the changes you have made to the garden and the polytunnel pan out. As we all know being in our gardens and being outdoors can be such a tonic. Sometimes we need to remember to enjoy our space and just sit as well as enjoy the rewards of the work we all do. Your Christmas veg harvest looked great those cabbages … 🤩 I hope you had a wonderful festive season. Happy 2024 🎉
I get where you're coming from Tony. I felt completely out of it for most of the year having caught Covid at the beginning of the year and could have quite happily stayed in the house but we got a new pup, he's 6 months old and I'm out every day with him now, he's a pain in the ass and I could throttle him sometime but I wouldn't be without him. Its a new start on Monday and we can only go forward. remember Yesterday is history, tomorrows a mystery today is a gift, that's why its called the present. HNY pal and keep smiling ... it makes them wonder what you're up to.
Hey Tony take note of all the trials and tribulations of life. We can grow from these challenges. I think you have grown from this year. I am proud of you for accepting what today is and working with it. I have had so many challenges with my own health but before I let myself get down or feeling sorry for myself I think of all those that have it worse than me and I muster myself up and move forward. So no pity parties for me! I hope you and your family have a very special Christmas season.
Just watched Gardener Scott's latest Vlog - IT COULD BE THE ANSWER TO THE LOST MOJO - the answer to allotment guilt & fatigue. MAKE IT NEW! (As well as creating the worlds biggest quad grow collection😂)❤
Yes I agree with phirst55, it was a good yr to beat cancer, my dad just got his last treatment a week ago and in 3 months we do a check up then 6 months depending if it is gone, his levels were Real low last week. So look at the sunny side up, oh and that pupper prince oh my god just so adorable, dobs are my breed Of choice, haven't had one in about 10 yrs now but I miss that energy. Hugs Tony from accross the pond in Ontario Canada. Here's to an amazing 2024.
Tony wishing you and your family a fantastic Christmas. You are looking well. Here’s to 2024 🥂 Good Health and Happy gardening. Got my seeds for Boxing Day 😊 Wishing everyone else a great Christmas 🎄
Tony , you have no idea ! but you kept me going in 2022 ! I had paralysis in my legs for 3 months , and got diagnosed with spinal stenosis, it’s a bit rubbish mate ! you kept me entertained as I to love growing veg ! Have a wonderful Christmas mate and a heart felt thanks from me ! Your a super star ! and much love to you and family xxxx
It'll get easier for you to Tony. My life changed in 2017 when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. I thought my world had ended. 6 years on, the allotment that I only got after my diagnosis has been my lifeline. Things are never the same after a cancer diagnosis, but they will get easier. Sending you a Merry Christmas and a healthy 2024.
Wishing 2023 goodnight for lots of people for many different reasons. It seems to have been a tough year for so many, my one family included. Here’s to 2024 and hoping that scan in May turns out to just be a formality. Merry Christmas
You've come so far Tony, don't be so hard on yourself, enjoy this festive season with your family and lovely but mad dogs😂.. Merry Christmas 🤶🎄👪.. Ps got my onion seeds today so all set for boxing day grow a long 😍😍👍
It is completely normal to feel down after surgery and after cancer. My mum had cancer in the late 90s and she still gets depressed about it to the point we're looking into some cancer talking therapy. It's a huge thing for you to lose your close friend to it then be diagnosed yourself. It takes a while for the brain to process it all. I am amazed actually that you're gardening at all, it would have been quite acceptable for you to think you didn't even want to go back to the allotment for a while. I think ploughing on with it, not worrying about whether you're enjoying it, is the way to go, and eventually as you start to feel better you'll start to get that love for it back.
You got through it Tony, and that's the main thing. You have been an absolute inspiration to everyone you have shared this part of your life with. I'm sure that anyone who is given a similar diagnosis can take a heck of a lot of comfort from watching your wonderful videos. You are an absolute tonic, and thank you so much for sharing what is a very personal part of your life with us. I have no doubt that you will help many people. Merry Christmas to you and the family and have a happy and healthy new year.
Perspective Ton, you shouldn't think of the bad stuff if you focus on the good of 2023 those people you met, the cancer you beat, the growing you did, even wee Prince being in your life, I bet you had way more good than bad. You're a survivor and many people don't get to say that. Happy Christmas Ton, Happier new year.. x
Hi Tony, you have come through your cancer journey & are looking very well too. The friendship you had with Steve is very special and you will always have that and will always be there in your heart ❤ thanks for sharing and have a lovely Christmas with your family 🎄🎅🌲🤶
Tony how joyous is the dog's bring so much happiness. You have been through so much trauma this year and it will take a while for you to be able to get back to the way things were before your diagnosis but it will come have a great Christmas with your family and more power to your elbow in 2024 x
You are so lucky! I haven't been able to garden at all since 2031 since a massive stroke. My mobility is gone. I so miss my harden but physically I cannot do is. So sad on my part
It totally changes your outlook on everything. You lose interest in things easily at the start, mainly i think its the shock of it all... but every day you get stronger and slowly you realise that the things you did that don't actually serve you, you ditch all together, and the things you did that make you feel whole again, you throw yourself back into...its crazy how I spent so much of my time sweating the small stuff prior to cancer, once I was recovering my whole perspective changed. I'm back to work now but I nolonger punish myself for things at work and stressing myself out. I'm there to pick up a wage only... my concern now is my garden its what makes me happy, so its where I spend my time and energy. The fact you felt you just had to get down there today means you have found your mojo again, you look excited about the new changes your making and that is awesometo see. Big loves , bit by bit you'll get back to it. Those dogs are beautiful how fun.
Oooohhh... how I miss my Daisy, who looked exactly like yours. My heart breaks 😢. So happy you are feeling better ❤Happy Christmas to you and all the viewers 🎄🎁
Tony I love watching your youtube clips, your so inspiring. Fingers crossed 2024 is a better year for all of us. I've had cancer myself and luckiy I'm ok now, those hospital appointments always turned my stomach but I'm still here loving life. Changed my lifestyle and look after myself better now. Looking forward to growing a load of free food next year. Thanks for all your top tips. I'll be quadgrow tastic next year. Take care.
I hope that next year is a better one for you Tony! You inspired me to take up gardening and for that I thank you. I'm a bit older than you and now am trying to get as much perennial food garden going as possible. I turn 80 next year and am not sure how much more weeding I will be able to do. Thank you so much!!
Happy Christmas 🎄 to you Tony and all your family. Enjoy the fruits of your labour from your garden. Onwards and upwards you are doing great. ❤ . Marion 🇮🇪
Hey Tony. Just been through my own cancer treatment that I finished up 8 weeks ago. I have my first scan in February to see if treatment been a success. I completely relate about the ‘looming’ part as cancer is never far from our minds and the best we can get is NED for the rest of our lifetime with these scans being early warning indicators. It’s hard without any doubt. We just need to live in the moment and make sure everything we do brings us happiness. Happy Christmas and to 🎉a great 2024
Unfortunately I have to carry my crappy year over to the new year, I’m legal guardian to my 56 year old brother who has down syndrome and non verbal autism, sadly he passed away on Monday after a very short 2 day illness, the ventilator was turned off and me and my sister stayed with him singing his favourite songs until the very last heartbeat. I have his funeral to organise in the new year now. However for someone who was non verbal I’ve had over 600 messages about him which is wonderful but I feel like a piece of my heart has been torn out.
