    Having participated in 2 “reality” tv, shows I can say with confidence that this show is b.s. The crew would definitely know what’s going on when the “new guy” arrives for work with an entire production crew. Everyone involved also had to sign multiple documents agreeing to participate.

    Safety first! The foreman is awesome! The CEO built a team with individuals with different expertise and it shows. He should not know how to run everything. He only needs to be familiar with the overall process and business goals. I am sure there is higher level business that the people on the front lines don't understand. It goes both ways. I really like this clip!

      I know people who work for this company. On the other end there safety inspectors that have never done the job in their life so they go nuts on things that don't matter. Or asset managers not realizing a guy going 8 hours the opposite direction from the office the next day would bring equipment to his house so he's not wasting time going to get it

    I work for USPS and we work hard. On the days we don't have enough staff everyone even the postmaster chios in. Ties off roll their selves and get the job done. So it's hard to complain when you all work as a team.

    As a field supervisor for a abatement/commercial demo company for over 10 years , I've never had to belittle or expect so much from a green hat. Never had to kick anyone off my job site. You treat others like you want to be treated , and it goes both ways .

He said (in a southern way) dude needed more training before he could be trusted to operate heavy equipment around power lines. totally reasonable. I mean he took a swipe at the piss poor post pounder usage, but wasn't to the guy's face he was trying to talk him through it in person.

      I started in in commercial construction at a young age. All the newbies got treated way worse than this. It gets rid of the soft pussies immediately. Nobody wants to be around them. They can work at chem lawn or the recycling center

      @@glennmccrae7821 yes you do! They had him away from the main area and were seeing if he could drive the equipment. I’m a professional welder that’s been welding in refineries, power plants, shops etc. and this is how they do it. This foreman was good enough to see if he could drive the thing first cause there’s always those people who say they can drive it and then bam they run into something. The camera cut out the important stuff the foreman was telling him. The foreman was showing him what to press and how to move the machine and he didn’t do too well but if he was a normal employee, they’d be showing him over the next few days how to drive it like that. The only way to learn out there is by hands on experience and not by reading a book. His yellow hard hat means he’s a helper and a new guy.

I was simply hinting to the fact they should have trained him beforehand whether that be in a classroom or physical as you cant operate a digger after someone telling you to get in it, I think you are just about a logical as the guy training him.     Any boss in any company should be capable of doing any job or task in that company to the same standard of the person that boss employs to do that job in that company. failure to do so means you cant lead by example.

      How does that make any sense. How is a guy responsible for contracts, decisions, management, ect... exposed to become experts in every little aspect of their company at the same time. A owner of a high-end restaurant will never be able to match his top cheifs skills, or the head of a hospital one of his surgeons who have spent years at school. Those are maybe obvious examples but even a construction company where guys spend years and years working on their skills running specific machinery day in and day out or the engineers/designers' education and abilities each would be impossible for a ceo or owner to ever come close to matching without that becoming their full time job.

    Anyone who thinks the CEO of a big company should be capable of doing every job in the company down to the front line workers is on something I need. I wouldn't expect the CEO of a major cable company to be able to walk in and splice fibre. Nor would I expect a fibre splicing team lead to be able to run a board meeting or shareholders meeting etc.

      That’s not true I used to run heavy equip a lot larger than shown here and you don’t need a certificate. Even osha says there needs to be company training, but the level of that training is based on company policy and standards.

    Alot of boss's can not do the job those under them do. And I DO MEAN ALOT. Yet they typically think those under them are easily replaceable. I am however horrified to see that the foreman put this new guy so quickly on a heavy piece of equipment, granted he did not let him use it for long, he still should not have used it at all on his first day.

    Owning a company doesn't mean that you know how to run all of the technology that exists within that company. A guy who owns the company is providing jobs for the people who DO know how to operate that equipment. So, saying that "he doesn't make the cut in his own company" is pretty ridiculous. I wouldn't expect a guy in a suit and tie to be able to run a bulldozer or a back hoe. Just because I won a theme park doesn't mean that I can personally build a rollercoaster. Sometimes I wonder about the people who make up these stupid titles.
