I cried when the Stadium was torn down, along with Comisky Park! I went to both as a kid and was in the military when they were gone 😐 Long live the legends of both!

The Chicago Stadium was not only the home of the Chicago Blackhawks including the great music concerts, democratic convention, wrestling, and the boxing matches. It was also the home of the Chicago Bulls Basketball team, who won 3 NBA championships in the first 3peat!!!! Blackhawks won 3 Stanley Cup championships in the same arena!!!!!

I am a Canadian, but a lifelong "Blackhawks" fan and I used to hitchhike almost 600 miles to see the Blackhawks when I was a kid. I drove my parents crazy with "Hawk Talk" esp. since I should have cheered for a Canadian team. I hated the Leafs and Montreal they never played in front of the best fans in hockey and they never had the same emotion and as a Canadian born person, I know how much better Hawks fan were because I worked at Maple Leaf Gardens and Leaf fans never cheered anywhere near the sound of Hawks fans. Montreal had a rich history but again they expected a winner and therefore never really had the spirit Hawks fans showed game in game out for decades. As a Canadian kid and now adult, I can say I saw at least 100 Hawks home games and I had to travel 600 miles to see them but the Chicago Stadium and the Blackhawks were worth it no matter the outcome. I just enjoyed the feeling of walking into the noisiest stadium and still is in hockey with the best fans in Hockey to this day. Great Canadian born players like Bobby Hull echoed that many times as did Stan Mikita. The Chicago Stadium was the epitome of the how a hockey stadium should be built but that era has gone and I can say I will always treasure the great excitment and fun going to the 'MIGHTY CHICAGO STADIUM"
"GO HAWKS GO"! ... STEVE THE CANADIAN HAWKS FAN FOREVER!!

@@marcdemell5976 Blackhawks Goal his 43rd of the season scored by number 18 .... Dennis Savard, assisted by number 28 Steve Larmer and number 20 Al Secord. The time 13;38. Savard from Larmer and Secord at 13:38. Don't forget Harvey Wittenberg with his unique sound for each mighty Hawks goal. Of course, Denny was and still is one of my favorites with his skill of skating sideways faster than most players going forward, then his high-speed spin O Rama aka Bobby Orr style, and in ways better. Hawks have generated excellent centermen throughout their history only Montreal can match the center spot with the Hawks. Did you know the Leafs only had one scoring leader in 1938 (Gordie Drillon) in their whole history and the Toronto franchise started 15 years ahead of the Hawks? One At Ross winner in all that time. Tells you a lot about the propaganda in Toronto about their history and not having more scoring leaders. Of course, Denny was born in Gatineau so that helps with your hometown hero but Savard was really fun to watch, Image if he was bigger how much more dominant he would have been. I think in a lot of ways that he was the best player in the NHL all through the '80s ahead of Wayne and Mario esp. lifting fans out of their seats that both Mario and Wayne didn't do as often.

Not exactly. The idea for the stadium came in 1926. The Great Depression didn’t really start until late 1929, months after the Stadium opened.

@@SylveonMujigaeOfficial Exactly right! Late 1920s (early) Art Deco. All the decoration is at the top, and is more Gothic looking. That's what makes Art Deco amazing (then old and then new). I won't go into detail, but the stadium is indicative of the late 20s. There were other venues of that vintage.

There was a hockey game played April 5 1970 when the Canadians who needed to beat the hawks or tie the hawks or score 5 goals to make the playoffs on goal differential the Blackhawks scored 5 empty net goals to win the game 10 to 2 and knock the Canadians out of the stanley cup playoffs
