I met him one night in a high-end L.A. restaurant. On my way to the restroom, I see Oliver Stone at a table to my right, who looked up and nodded. On my way out and going back to my table, Greg Hines was dining at a table/booth on my right. Our eyes met. He was having dinner with a woman, and I stopped dead in my tracks at his table. He looked up and smiled, knowing I recognized him, and he shook my hand. I think we extended hands simultaneously. I can easily recall the feel of that genuine handshake. I told him I admired his work so much and started to move back to my table. He introduced me to the woman he was dining with, and my girlfriend was sitting at our table, agape at seeing this. So, I called her over and introduced her to Greg and his date. He says, "Hey man I KNOW you!" I smiled and said, "I doubt that." and he insisted, "No man, I KNOW that I know you!" I said, "No man, you've met someone who LOOKS like me ... but it wasn't me." We politely disengaged and it's always been a find memory whenever he comes up. He could not have been a nicer, more polite and warm person in that situation. I was saddened when I learned he passed away just a few years later.

This doesn’t reflect at all on the credibility of the black community ! It’s time we stop taking responsibility for everything black ! (Positive or negative). If real equality is the goal then we must realize that everything done/ said by 1 person of color doesn’t reflect on the whole race!

Not to use them as a barometer, but you don’t see all white people apologizing for serial killers (Dahmer or Gacey), or other criminals (like Epstein or Weinstein). I had the opportunity to personally meet Gregory Hines in Brooklyn while he shoot some scenes of a movie in Bed Stuy Brooklyn!
Jelly’s last Jam had already made a hit at this time!
And I saw him while they were shooting some scenes of a Movie he was going to be in, and they were taking a break!
And I walked up to Him and began talking and we talked for about 10 mins non-Stop as if we knew each other!
I was really moved by our encounter and his kindness towards me!
    This happened somewhere between 1990-1992!

I was an extra in the movie and walks up to him and said Mr Hines I am so pleased to meet you and then told him my name and he was so sweet and he took a photo with me and later on when he saw me on the set he winked at me acknowledging that he remembered haven't met me on the set earlier that day as we traveled from one set to the next to do different scenes.

I remember seeing Mr. Hines on Broadway in Jelly's Last Jam with my mother and grandma. They saw him in Eubie and Sophisticated Ladies on Broadway years before. And I remember his grandchild went to the preschool I taught in. I had to contain myself when he walked through the door the first time. It was lovely just seeing him be grandpa to his grandson. Then we just got used to him being there at drop off or pick up time. What a class act. I definitely miss him tapping. Watching him tap looked effortless, like I could get up and do it too. He was hilarious as Ben on Will and Grace. RIP Gregory.

I was a dancer for 15 years . When I first met him in 1984 he was going to the same gym as my mother. She was too cute. She called me at home and told me that he was there and that I should come pick her up. So I did, and I met him, and he was so nice and so gracious. I was 14 at the time, had a major crash in many ways. What a talented man. AND he’s second wife was also very nice. I met her another time at the gym. They would workout together some times. I was strength training at that time for dance.
      Beautiful couple at that time.

I caught about the last 2 hours of this discussion. The Man represents the Nation-State in the marriage. The women and children represent your citizens. It's not a partnership. The wife may need to wear the hat of the CEO, CIO, or CFO. Teacher, Janitor, Doctor, etc... At the end of the day; the man must produce, provide, protect, secure, and defend. Of course, he must also Govern. I hope this clears that whole partnership nonsense up.
