I was a young man in the 1970s. I remember Tamara and Pam and all the others, and loved it. Not tot throw rain on the parade here, but the only place in the United States that Black men talked like this -- was in the movies. I guess we were so happy to finally see ourselves up on the big screen, we didn't realize that we were being stereotyped in ways that would make Stephin Fetchit blush.

If the only thing that makes the Black stereotypes of the 70s good is your fond memory of them, then the stereotypes of the 1930s (Stephin Fetchit) and 1950s (Amos n' Andy and Rochester) are just as beloved, therefore just as valid and "good". And, for the record, a good many of the same Black stereotypes still exist in movies. Just updated for "modern audiences".
...he really was an amazing designer...she..was his main model...i am so glad she did the series...she did not make much money...and she unfortunately wasnt able to make much of a career after the series...but she really is an enduring symbol of black culture...i was really very sad when she died a few years back...she was truly a star....

I saw this Cleopatra Jones yesterday and let me tell you, I loved it. Better movie than Dolemite, Coffy, and the 1st 2 Shaft movies (scared to see Shaft in Africa). Warner Brothers or whoever owns the rights should make a reboot.

Cleopatra Jones is one of my favourite blaxploitation films along with Black Belt Jones.
