Morissette started singing at 3 when she started singing a song of Regine Velasquez on the family karaoke machine. There are Wish Bus performances of Regine who is in her mid-50s now but has remained vocally in top shape. In addition to that, PPop groups are new. Used to be "total performers" or "triple threats" (sing, dance, rap) like Sara Geronimo or Darren Espanto were formed as it was everyone for himself. Every home has a karaoke machine, so they start singing young. All throughout school from elementary they be performing dancing and singing until graduation. Which explains all generations singing songs / classics that they don't sing over here. As in America, your social image/appearance or group defines what you listen to. Like groups would be listening to Rap and others would be House music etc etc. However, in the philippines, it's a bit different as they grow up singing the classics at home regardless of their ages. Sure they say karaoke makes a lot of copies, but karaoke is the start. It polishes their skills, after obtaining that skill, then they could work on originality, flavor, and style. If there is 1 really really good singer out of 10 households. and you quantify that, it explains why there are so many really good singers over there. It's mind boggling.
