The 44 mag is not the most powerful handgun. It is in 3rd place behind the 500 and 460. Also all revolvers have gas venting at the front of the cylinder when fired as normal operation and always have even with the old cap & ball ones. That is engineered and is termed cylinder gap.
My local range back home had a 500 magnum revolver you could rent, but before you could rent it they were required to notify you about the idiot who fired it with their middle finger on the trigger and their index across the cylinder, got their finger blown off lmao

On a double action revolver it pulls back the hammer and releases it. Single action revolvers are from the late 1800s to mid 1900s most of the time.

They're not double action they have recoil operated slide actuated Hammer Cocker it's basically a controlled version of what you see in the video
This is why you load 1 round at a time until you are comfortable with the gun
