You're right about that late 90's early 00's era in gaming, it was a great time of old and new mixing together. Its strange because even though we have better tech today, it seems like gaming went in total and very wrong direction. I mean its not all bad, but compared to then, certainly we lost something on the way. I'm definitely checking out that GITS and Capcom VHS, thanks for uploading them, nice video.

Holy crap please keep this series up; especially with the second channel because you never know what kind of mystery would be solved with these tapes. For instance, the channel Pandamonium Gaming uses tons of old Japanese TV footage to show of early Sega Saturn stuff. I bet he would get a kick out of these.

Here in the US the trick was to send in all the survey and registration cards that you could. I don't even know how I picked up that habit, but after sending in the cards that came with your games and getting on their mailing lists you'd get all types of stuff. I remember quite a few promotional tapes and this video really reminds me of those times :) This was way before we had the internet so things like this were pretty awesome. Promo tapes, demo discs, exclusive letters, etc... Getting mail as a kid was pretty rare in general and this kind of mail was about the best kind of mail surprise you could even get. Plus, it just felt so exclusive and like you had some hidden connection to game companies other didn't have (besides that one kid who claimed his uncle worked at Nintendo, I guess :p )
Man, I regret not sending in those registration cards back in the day. I want them to suck up to me instead! :p )

I think i remember seeing something about that Ghost in the Shell video before. The intro and extra scenes that game has was what I wanted from PS1 games when we were promised video cutscenes. Had a few games, like Wild Arms, that'd give you a nice anime intro and then nothing else. One day I need to get good at Ghost in the Shell and do a video on it. One of them games I'm glad I got cheap 20-odd years ago. Looking forward to more of this series cos these are some interesting relics of Japanese gaming that probably haven't been documented much if at all.
I, too, was a guy looking for animated cutscenes in his games at that time, even CGI ones like in FFVII. It's hard to explain to people who didn't live through it, but getting a cinematic in a game like that was truly special at the time.
I've got one on a speed run of OutRun, and they amazingly use a glitch which makes the gae go even faster by constantly driving on the curb. Never seen that technique used before or since.

Never played the Ghost in the Shell game (Sadly) but my ears instantly perked up hearing Takkyu Ishino! Huge Denki Groove fan and I have listened to the OST of the game many times~
Amazing soundtrack, it's always on my phone in case I need to give it a listen. Hope you give the game a play, it's one of the best PS1 action games...in my humble opinion.

Still have the first parts and the last parts, but I'd have to play the game all over again. Was actually thinking about making it my next video, so we'll see!
