Reporter Actually Gets Stabbed on TV While Testing 'Knife-Proof' Vest

- While testing a supposed knife-proof vest, a reporter in Israel was stabbed multiple times and didn't feel a thing. But, the knife actually penetrated through the vest causing a superficial stab wound. Eitam Lachover got a few stitches and was released from the hospital. The Vice President for the company who makes the vest said that a section of the vest that didn't have the protective material. Israeli soldiers are supposed to receive the vest after stabbings have occurred in the country. #InsideEdition
I feel bad for the reporter, he trusted someone and got stabbed in the back.

At least they will learn from this mistake... And hey, the reporter is doing fine now.
@@FawnTheCreator yeah but all it takes is one mistake like this to completely ruin the public perception of a company. Even if they improve on every part of it people still aren’t going to want to buy a vest from them if they’ve seen someone get stabbed while wearing it. They basically have no credibility now, no one will believe them if they say their product is safer now because last time they said it was safe some random guy got stabbed. At this point the only way the company could realistically recover is if they change their name and make a different product

I'm a QA engineer and I audited a British company that makes stab proof and bullet proof vests. They test every batch before despatch. The test for the stab proof vests were set up in conjunction with the metropolitan police as they were the customer and they brainstormed the "worst possible knife attack" they could envisage. It was someone running at an officer with a bayonet fixed. So the test drops a weighted bayonet (actually french foreign legion as that's the sharpest knife they could find) onto a jacket from a great height. None of the vets fail. How in the hell this jacket failed is mind boggling. The knife wasn't even rammed in particularly hard. Pathetic.

The situation underscores the need for thorough and accurate testing to ensure the safety of individuals who rely on such products, especially in high-risk situations like those faced by soldiers. Why does a “knife proof vest” have parts of it that aren’t knife proof? 😂😂
Exactly, and why would the guy with the knife stab in those areas?
Why do bullet proof vests have parts that aren't bullet proof, its the same thing
So it's not gonna be heavy for the carrier. All vests have separated plates in them so your spine won't snap if you put them on
That's like saying why wear a bullet proof vest when the guy could shoot you in the head... It is because it protects a significant portion of your body and more importantly it protects vital areas from being punctured. It is not like the bad guy is going to be able to perfectly hit those spots during an actual fight it would be very difficult not to mention he probably wouldn't even know where to hit.
People in the middle ages already figured this out, and our dumbasses can't know how to make a stab proof vest?

Exactly
He missed guys y’all gotta read
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's a weird excuse. If that part wasn't "stab proof", the damage would have been way worse.
Lets be fair guys, the vest stopped several stabs from the knife before reporter received a minor cut on his back.
The vest may not have worked perfectly, but it did do a pretty good job of keeping the reporter alive.
then lets be honest, that wasn't a brutal offensive stab; it was more of a "I'm going to test this big ass knife on you while you wear a knife proof vest that is not knife proof where i test stab you" kind of stab. In a real attack the attacker will be putting brutal force onto the vest with a very sharp object, which will probably make it all the way in seeing as the test stabs made it in as well.
Then lets be honest, I don't want to preface all of my comments with "then lets be honest,"
There are 3 things that you need to understand about the situation:
1) Force.
True, the attacker didn't smash the knife into the guys back like it was a sledge hammer.
BUT, he wouldn't need to.
Had the reporter not been wearing the vest, the knife would have easily made several deep wounds in his back. Assuming the knife missed bone at least once.
2) Frequency.
How many times did the attacker stab at the reporter? about a dozen times.
How many times did the vest fail? only once.
How bad was the failure? a minor wound that only needs a few stitches.
Had this been a real attack, the reporter wouldn't have just stood there either. Maybe a surprise attack would allow the attacker to get one or two swings in before the reporter ranaway/turned around and fended him off with his hands. The vest prevented multiple stabs initially, and when it did "fail" it didn't do so catastrophically. Having 1 minor wound after several swings is far better than having multiple deep wounds.
3) Why did the vest fail.
This is important. According to the vest makers:
~
Avi Blum, the company's CEO, told CNN that because the material had not been sewn in place or otherwise anchored in the reporter's jacket, "it moved a little bit down" and the employee "stabbed him in the upper part, where there was no anti-stabbing material.""
~
www.cnn.com/2016/01/07/middleeast/israel-reporter-accidental-stabbing/
/////
upon further reflection, the reason for the shallowness of the wound may have nothing to do with the vest at all (because apparently the knife missed the stab proof stuff entirely).
an alternative explanation would be because the attacker was aiming for the shoulder blade instead of in between the ribs.
+Shane Rooney I hope we can agree on the fact that we don't know the attacker's thoughts; we can't determine "he will stab us here, this fast, this many times" and get it right. That is why the Vest must be 110% functional and safe one little fault in the vest and that could mean the difference between life and your last few breathes.
You have proven my points for me, which i thank you.
The vest had a fault and if it got into the military with that 1 fault, even the tiniest fault, consider it a "game over" outcome.
Devin Smith
my point was never that the vest worked perfectly.
My point was that the vest, despite being flawed, was still better than nothing.
speaking of flaws, you comment holds one as well:
*even the tiniest fault, consider it a "game over" outcome.*
The vest DID have a fault, but it wasn't a "game over" outcome. :P
