- Drone footage over the central New South Wales town of Parkes has captured a huge wall of dust moving across the landscape. Damaging winds produced by thunderstorms across the state whipped up the dust storms, turning daytime into night in some towns

This is very real and what Australians living in this part of NSW are coping and dealing with as part of daily life. I love the way they get on with it while offering support and strength to each other. Those who have little to give are still giving. Hope you get that desperately needed decent rainfall soon.
I've seen dozens of dust storms living there. And they are utterly harmless and mundane unless you happen to be dumb enough to continue driving through it or something. We cope with it and deal with it because it's harmless.

Went to a Mars exhibition at the London Design Museum a couple of months ago. It looks just like Mars, red sweeping clouds of dust. Apparently they last 3 months at a time on Mars. Let's hope it's over more quickly for poor Victoria :(

This kind of stuff has been happening for thousands of years. It's just that we now have the ability to record and distribute information more frequently.
The amount of increasing disasters is just an illusion.
@@ElixirEcho Do some research, while things like volcanic eruptions and earthquakes haven't changed much, everything else has been a steady increase for decades now, along with the severity of those fires, floods, storms etc consistently breaking it's own record.
Our planet is essentially a car in the sun with the windows open, the temperature equalizes to neither gain nor loose heat at a certain point, carbon in this example is essentially putting the windows up thus obviously heating the inside of the car up. For the planet that means things start changing.

We're able to look into the past and see that times before were MUCH different to they are now. From gas bubbles trapped in ice to layers of sediment... There are so many ways we have come to realize that our earth is in trouble.
