it is 100% free but you will be provided any kind of help from the company. you have to learn and implement it yourself

you need to open virtualbox and run the erpnext machine to use the software. this will not work like other programs work in Windows

you probably need to get out of maintenance mode. try below command when you are in frappe-bench directory
bench set-maintenance-mode off
